| Detroit-Shoreway
is one of the city's most urban neighborhoods. One of the west
side's most eclectic architecturally and a touch of grit, Detroit-Shoreway
was originally part of Brooklyn Township back in the mid-1800's until
being annexed by Cleveland. Detroit Avenue is the west side's answer
to Euclid Avenue, with many commercial districts, funky shops, and going
through some of the more Clevelandesque double-decker neighborhoods.
This neighborhood of Germans, Irish, eastern Europeans, and Hispanics has
grown even more impressive over the years due to wonderful infill projects
(particularly near the lake), the Gordon
Square Arcade, park overhauls, and a growing sense of community.
The Cleveland Public
Theater, the Lorain
Avenue Antique District, the Capitol
Theater, and a RTA station are neighborhood notables.
