Baltimore (pop: 2,881) is a rural village in Fairfield County north of Lancaster. The municipality is actually a merger of two towns, New Market (later called Baltimore) and Basil. Although downtown Baltimore acts as the center of the community today, a smaller downtown area still exists at the old center of Basil, although it is not much to speak of.
