Newark (pop: 46,279) is the county seat of Licking County. The city 35 miles east of Columbus is the home of a gorgeous town square and county courthouse. Located in the Appalachian foothills of Central Ohio, Newark is the home of the Longaberger Basket Company, a Louis Sullivan masterpiece and even a historic arcade. Together, with Granville, it makes a metropolitan area of around 150,000 total. Not bad for a town no one has heard of that is blessed with hidden gems.
