Richmond & Eastern Kentucky University (pop: 28,658) Founded in 1798 by Colonel John Miller, a Revolutionary War Soldier. It's county seat once stood in nearby Milford before being moved to Richmond. This city enjoys it's quiet downtown which is half a mile from EKU. EKU brings a great deal to this quiet town; nearly 14,000 students every semester. Richmond is also home to the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training(DOCJT). Over 10,000 law enforcement officers throughout the state attend training here annually.
