Baton Rouge, Lousiana's State capital, is a metropolitan area of around 800,000 people. The city is in southeastern Louisiana situated on the mighty Mississippi River. Incorporated in 1817, this historic Southern city boasts a large industrial presence particularly in the petrochemical field. Also home to Louisiana State University (LSU), Baton Rouge grows considerably come college football season with many people from nearby New Orleans coming up for the football festivities.
