Downtown is the central business district for the Baton Rouge metropolitan area. It is also home to many of the State's government operations and is a hub for cultural and entertainment activity. Located on the eastern banks of the Mississippi River, Downtown Baton Rouge also boasts an excellent riverfront park and tourist area with museums and a convention center.
