Ironton (pop: 11,211) is the county seat of Ohio's most southern county, Lawrence. Ironton is part of the Tri-City Metropolitan area of Huntington-Ashland-Ironton, with a population of around 289,000. With the beautiful Wayne National Forest surrounding the city, Ironton has a wonderful courthouse along with the Lawrence County Museum inside a splendid Victorian house once owned by John Rankin, the famous abolitionist, dating back to 1870. Ironton is near the southernmost tip of Ohio, where standing on Observation Point, one can see three states.
