Jackson (pop: 6,184) is one of southeast Ohio's larger cities. The county seat of Jackson County, it was first named "Salt Lick Town" as it was a part of Ohio's first industry, the Scioto Salt Works. The "Apple Capital of Ohio" has hosted many industries along with having a relatively intact downtown, which includes the Markey Cultural Arts Center.
