Portsmouth (pop: 20,909; metro: 79,905) is the county seat of Scioto County. The city is famous for the grand Portsmouth Murals built along the city's floodwall, with each frame telling a different story of the city. The city with two downtowns (the actual central business district along Route 23; the other is the Boneyfiddle District, which is built along the floodwall area) has wonderful galleries, parks, cafes, shops, restaurants, and pottery centers. The city is the home of Shawnee State University, Shawnee State Park (the home of the "Little Smokies" Mountains, as seen on the Southeast Ohio front page) & Resort, the Pepsi-Cola Factory, the Portsmouth Brewery Co., and many other attractions.
