Oxford (pop: 21,493) is the home of Miami University and is one of the oldest college towns west of the Appalachians (1810; the college was founded in 1809). The actual campus of Miami University is red-brick, Georgian-architectural style, and very tree-lined. The Uptown Oxford business district is full of typical college amenities along with some decently nice restaurants and theaters. Miami University was named one of the original Public Ivies and was the presidential alma mater of Benjamin Harrison. Interestingly in the 1800's, Miami was in the same "league" of Yale, Harvard, and Dartmouth in size and prestige. It may not be there today but it's still regarded highly in the country. But remember, the University of Miami is in Florida...Miami University is in Ohio. GOT IT?! Good.
