Conneaut Revisited
Photos are great but like a lot of eastern Ohio small towns - nice at one point but not what they used to be. Sad to see the Carnegie library in such rough shape.

Agree with @X - if it's not the avatar of the forumer, think it should be turned off.

Cleveland/June 2025 - the Goodtime III, Part One
Took a ride on the Goodtime III, with air temps around 60F and water temps not much warmer, it was a little brisk (but it would be considered balmy in February!). Add some upper level Canadian wildfire smoke for some sun diffusion and it was another case where no good time on the Goodtime is exactly the same.

A few pics from the Goodtime III yesterday - I know not a lot people check out other sections of the forum but I'll have over 100 pics posted in the City Photos section; hopefully in the next day or so.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Irishtown Bend Park
Aye, 'twas a good time from the Goodtime seeing the progress on Irishtown Bend (I'm half Irish, so trying a wee bit of a brogue 😆)

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
One of the less publicized (re)construction projects on the lakefront - the walkway at Wendy Park/Whiskey Island to the Coast Guard station. It's been closed since last August and is supposedly going to be completed this August. Based on these photos, not sure how realistic that timeframe is. It's unfortunate as that's one of my favorite spots in the vicinity, but hopefully it'll be reopened sooner than later.

Genuine skepticism from decades of similar announcements isn't necessarily instant negativity. Quite a few of us have seen plenty of announcements like this and can't be faulted for being optimistic realists. We've been doing this since before some of you were born 😅

Went to Globe Iron to see Tennis last night, first time visiting the building in its new incarnation. It was a great show and the space - well, not sure it's going to be my favorite venue but for seeing a compelling act it's fine. They've thankfully done a good job of keeping the industrial vibe of the building. Globe Iron is in the former Metropolis/Trilogy nightclub complex at the corner of Elm and Spruce which (for those of a certain age) hosted Church on Sunday nights for yeeears starting in the early 90s. They've reconfigured the entrances from Elm/Spruce to the mid block portion of the building; looks like Spruce Street has been vacated for the loading/staging area. What used to be the side room is now the main 'lobby/bar/facilities' area. The main floor has changed a little - the upper walkway/mezzanine that used to run the length of the space is now about a third of that for what they call the "deck". Guess you have to pony up for access but it's at the far end of the main hall - on the other hand, there's no other seating - none. We lucked out snagging a leaning spot along the wall and had a pretty good view. Overheard two Gen-Zish people next to me saying how "yeah, this is a new venue!" and "this is probably the first time most of these people have been in here". Where we were standing, on a Sunday night, was right by my old "claimed" Church spot on the Metropolis dance floor (I was a bit of a club kid back then) from about 33 years ago 😐 😳 What threw me off even more - the show wrapped around 10:30; back in the day we didn't even get to the place until midnight 😜 IMG_9776.mov

CLEVELAND UrbanOhio Meet Up - May 17 Goldhorn Brewery
Thanks again to @Boomerang_Brian for organizing this meetup and a special shoutout to the plus-ones who support our ‘geek fest’ 😆 Doesn’t happen too often so I made sure to get a photo of the OG’s of UrbanOhio - the Admins: @ColDayMan @richNcincy and myself 👍 Wish we could have stayed longer but great to see everyone!

Blossom - I've seen a lot of amazing shows there in spite of its logistics. I'm at the point where it has to be a reallllly compelling act to make the trek there. Yes, sound and views are usually great from my experiences and once you're there it's a great venue in a cool setting. Being of a certain age and okay fine - I can be a little bougie 😆 but I need an actual seat for a show so I'm Team Pavilion. That said - for lawn seating, pray that the few days before have been dry. Yes you can bring a blanket but the lawn can get really muddy and slippery - on a bit of an incline. You can rent low-slung lawn chairs (can't bring your own, last I heard) but you have to wait in line to get them and return them. Traffic. Easily the most loathsome part of any Blossom show. If they offered helicopter taxis from Cleveland, I'd seriously consider it. It's bad enough that peoples' overall situational awareness has gone out the window but take 20,000 people out to a semi-rural area, load them up with drinks, and then dump them out on to one or two roads and hope for the best. Yes, they provide traffic control but what they really need are giant cattle prods to keep people moving. Oh - for anyone who wants to mention a certain lesser known route - your post WILL be edited 😈

Folks - when threads are locked (usually for going off topic), the approach should not be "oh hey, here's a semi-related thread I can just post here instead". As a courtesy, the Admins and Mods can and do parse out posts into their appropriate threads when we have time. Just know that the more threads and off topic posts - it's usually just easier to delete, unfortunate but that's the reality. In this thread alone, in less than ten posts we have: RTA, TOD, Ohio City, BRT, traffic calming, Kansas City, Dublin, inner ring suburbs, Mitchells ice cream (big fan but ...) In the rare case there isn't an existing thread that's suitable - forumers are always welcome to create a new thread; it can always be merged later. Another out there idea - hold that thought until the appropriate thread is cleaned up and unlocked 😉

Cleveland: Downtown: Huntington Bank Field
Alright, I agree there's a lot of hyperbole being used with the whole "Furthest East Dome". What really needs to happen is an association with a proven tourist destination concept - I give you the Furthest East Largest Domed Ball of Twine (FELDBOT - rolls right off the tongue). People come to see the Ball of Twine, take in a game, dine at one of the many Michelin starred spots, go shopping at the luxury retailers and drive seven hours back to East Bumble####.

Cleveland: Downtown Parks & Public Spaces - Development/Construction
It's been awhile since we've handed out any suspensions but with all the ridiculously off-topic posts (from people who know better), maybe that needs to change. Also - for those who enjoy complaining about how the Admins and Mods do/don't run this forum to your preferred standard: Why do you keep coming here? When was the last time you offered to help out, or contribute? Why haven't you started your own better-managed forum during the 21 years this place has been around? Our Admins and Mods have families, full time jobs, etc. and still make time to provide this space.
