  1. "and because I like to argue" Arguing for the sake of constructive discussion is fine; arguing just to get a rise out of people is frowned on here.

    ^And a future UrbanOhio forumer, I'm sure! ;-) Congrats!!!
  3. Another amazing set! :-)
  4. Yeah - I've been calling Mike's. Once every 15 or so minutes since I first posted and each time it's been busy. After six times, I think I've given them a fair shake. So without a website to know their hours (no need for anything fancy, just a logo, phone number, hours, and maybe a menu), and no way to find out when they're open (a lot of places will have info available if the phone is busy; "thanks for calling ____, we're located ___, open ____", etc.), I guess they don't need the business :-\ Too bad, it sounded really promising. Thanks for the suggestions, everyone.
  5. Peter, are they open on Sundays, before or at least by noon?
  6. Not open on Sundays - should have mentioned, I need this info for tomorrow :-(
  7. I know, I've been wanting to try Cornerstone AND Brew Kettle but they don't open until 1pm and we have to be somewhere at 1:30pm. :-( Thanks for the other suggestions, though :-)
  8. Alright - in need of a lunch place near Baldwin-Wallace. Here are the requirements: 1. Relatively inexpensive (i.e. burgers/sandwiches no more than $8) 2. Relatively mainstream cuisine - decent bar food would work. No Alladins, Vhooda, Treehuggers, etc. 3. MUST have one decent beer on tap (if it's just Dortmunder, that's okay - but no p!sswater) 4. MUST be open by noon so we can make an appt. at 1:30pm. 5. A Rockne's/Winking Lizard local chain would work. 6. Preferably IN Berea not far from Bagley Road. ***IMPORTANT*** I know there are some good spots but the following are out because they base their hours on the days of the Puritans: Cornerstone Brewery (a shame because we've been wanting to try them) and The Brew Kettle. I saw two places that might fit the bill - Mike's Place and Upper Deck Sports Bar... any opinions?
  9. There's criticism, even harsh criticism - and then there's insulting someone who has made an effort to reach out to this forum, and helped resolve a lot of issues for a lot of people. No one's suggesting that criticism isn't welcome, but deliver it without the disrespect.
  10. I don't think we have to worry about Symon going Wolfgang Puck foodcourt on us ;-)
  11. "why bother now, when so much of his food is available here." Because there is not here, and it's possible the menu might be a little different ;-) I think they may be trying to set it up so each level of the hierarchy feeds into the next, with Lola being the flagship and so on.
  12. Before we get all flustered that we might end up with a bunch of Symonbees where we can all eat good in the hood, do we really think the same concerns haven't been expressed about every celebrity chef's empire? Can't we just for a little moment in time, be happy that he's doing well enough to even consider expanding into new venues when the economy is still in the sh!tter?!?
  13. Gotta give a shoutout to one of my favorite spots, Lava Lounge - always a great spot moreso now because of their current beers on tap. Off the top of my head: Bells Two-Hearted Ale Stoudt Lager Thirsty Dog Old Leghumper Porter Thirsty Dog Stud Service Stout Hoegaarden (not my thing, but listing it anyway) Flying Dog Tire Bite Golden Ale Magic Hat #9 (again, not my thing) I might be forgetting one or two - but anyway, love this lineup! :drunk: http://www.coolplacestoeat.com/lava.html
  14. " Let's remember, the shootings at Perk Park occurred behind one of the mounds in the old design. It provided a perfect secluded/hidden area for the crime." Keep in mind that not only were there mounds, but a majority of the park was below-grade, and had large concrete slabs strewn about which exacerbated the problems with the old design. Also, as horrific as the shootings were - it wasn't a case of just a random pedestrian being targeted off the street. I don't think anyone is dismissing your concerns - and most would say that first and foremost, the layout needs to address safety/perceptions. However, at some point we have to stop designing our public spaces with the "lowest common denominator" as the standard (aka "ooh, we can't NOT have fences on the Detroit-Superior Bridge because someone might jump!").
  15. Any chance we can get a shot from further away? :-)
  16. I hate to add to the RTA hatefest, but I was on the E-Line Trolley, #2709 today: That's not someone being cute and tagging their initials, those are the marks of some of the worst gangs in Cleveland. http://www.wcpn.org/WCPN/soi/4249 For what it's worth - these are on the seat directly across from the rear exit door and DIRECTLY under one of the security cameras.

  18. At this point, I think you two should either take it to PM or simply move on.
  19. "I do agree with you that they need to coordinate with any I-90 construction to keep disruptions to a minimum." That part, I'm in absolute agreement with. But um... commuting "problems" in greater Cleveland... that's always good for a chuckle.
  20. Just to confirm, you want your screenname to be "Hts121"?

I've always liked the view from the Innerbelt bridge - and as I've said before, I HOPE you weren't driving when you took those photos!
  22. Looks like they switched it but according to the link they posted, it's here at :16 - http://www.archive.org/details/Arteries1941

All About Eve - no action, no CGI, no T&A (except for a brief appearance by Marilyn Monroe) - just a great script performed by incredible actors.

I have to ask - does anyone else who regularly travels through the Flats see the "cloud" of gulls floating and realize they have to change their route since it's obvious one of the freighters is heading through the Cuyahoga?
