Cleveland: VA Hospital Expansion
^I learn something every day - never realized they had a presence there; I'm guessing *if* they're going to consolidate, it would be into the office tower phase on 105th.

Okay, pure speculation on my part - the red section lines up at about the same height as the Red Line bridge in the background. Coincidence?

^Nothing happening on the East 105 phase yet - and you're welcome, I'm glad the sun was out and it got above 30!

That's CMA phase II; the VA is too far away and down the hill to be seen from that spot :-)

^Although I would love to see the parish remain in place - if there's any church that would be ideal for a residential conversion, St. Emeric's is at the top of the list - easy access to transit, the West Side Market, great views of the skyline, etc.- Happiest States: Hawaii Moves Into First Place, Ohio 47th
Have you ever been to Hawaii?- How do you pronounce: Columbus
I've never quite understood how one could "hate" an entire city/metro; at least those with over a million in the metro, a decently built-up CBD and a handful of interesting neighborhoods. Not that I'd want to live in some places I've visited, but they usually offer enough to make a few days' visit interesting and pleasant.- How do you pronounce: Cleveland

^It's so odd to see that angle with the former warehouse building which was demo'd for a Doubletree Hotel that was never built (on the left); then the Bradley Building without the added floors, and of course the Pinnacle would be above the car on the right.- East Cleveland
It's been a while since I've been over that way - good to see some of the homes/buidings being restored but equally sad to see some deteriorating even further. I see quite a few of the rehabs have "wackadoodle" paint jobs but I'll take that over board-ups anyday.- Pet Peeves!
^Add me to the list. I struggled to get C's in remedial math classes in undergrad.- Weather
I agree - I don't like winter, but I'll take what we've been having this year anyday over 2+ feet of snow and temps under 20. The cold never bothered me until a few years ago - for whatever reason, I became a freezebaby. If it's under 30, I'm wearing thermals. If it's under 20 - I'm wearing thermals *indoors* (and we keep the thermostat at 70F); I just can't shake that chill like I used to (though a generous splash of Kahlua in hot cocoa seems to help!). The hardest part is the first month or so of temps in the 20s, then I slowly adjust but by the time it doesn't faze me, it's spring again.- Weather
I heard there was a 40+ car pileup on I-71 near Columbus - yikes! Once again Cleveland's dodging a snowball - we're only supposed to get an inch or so today and slightly more tomorrow. My hometown still has about two feet on the ground and might get 6-8 more inches tonight! As much as I'm not a fan of cold weather, I'd rather live somewhere like Cleveland where the city has the equipment to keep the main streets mostly passable. Sidestreets are another story but so far we haven't been snowbound yet.- Ohio Intercity Rail (3C+D Line, etc)
"His coverage has generally been fair, thorough and detailed.... and he hasn't taken critics or proponents comments at face value." That was pretty much his M.O. when I worked with him at the Daily Kent Stater.- Historic Ohio Theatres

Good call, that house IS adorable!- Relocating to Shaker Heights??
Just to confirm - Broadway crosses I-480 in two areas - near Garfield Heights, and near Oakwood near the intersection of Broadway/Forbes. Neither is very far from Shaker Heights or Shaker Square, but are you planning to take transit to work or will you have access to a car?- Relocating to Shaker Heights??
Welcome to the forum, and welcome to Cleveland! I'm not as familiar with the area as some forumers are, but you'll want to know that there is Shaker Heights, an eastern inner-ring suburb and Shaker Square which is a eastern neighborhood within Cleveland city limits. Both are desirable areas - with Shaker Square having a lot of the amenities you've mentioned (including access to transit), but it will all depend on your interests/preferences. Also, if you could let us know the approximate area where you'll be working (no need for specifics), that will help everyone give more appropriate recommendations. - Cleveland: University Hospitals Expansion (University Circle)
