Beachwood: New Eaton Headquarters
I have some shocking news - I kept looking at the rendering, and I couldn't quite remember the context or the inspiration for the new HQ building; and then I realized it was all part of an insidious - nay, it's a DARTH Sidious plot!!! Look out Gungans, the tradE federATiON is coming for you!!! Many Bothans died to bring us this information ;-) *For those who don't get it - lots of Star Wars references in this post.

Cleveland: Jack Cleveland Casino
Having been in the temporary Greektown casino in Detroit, there's not that much involved beyond cosmetic stuff and rolling in a few dozen slot machines, tables, etc.

Business Relocating to Cleveland - Need Space
"I know that a commercial realtor could help, but getting advice from someone without a financial interest in pushing a property would be nice." We do have a standing rule on the forum that anyone offering a service (such as realtors) should fully disclose who they are or the company they work for. We don't discourage or prohibit legitimate offers of assistance, but we do ask that everyone exercises common sense (no spamming, etc.) It just keeps everything on the up and up. That said, CorySnyder (who has told us he's with Allegro Realty) does make a good point - especially if this is your first time looking for property to rehab. Let us know how everything turns out :-)

Cleveland: Innerbelt News
"Lorain-Superior" Never heard of that bridge. "No where to really go on south end anyway besides Tremont And Clark-Metro, Old Brooklyn, Duck Island, and a few other places that will connect to the Towpath and other trails. Contrarian viewpoints are fine but could we at least make *some* effort to be factual?

Cleveland: Retail News
Several of those cities subsidize the retailers' operation; that's a dead horse that won't be beaten here any longer. We've gone over how the income levels of Cleveland's residents - specifically within the urban core compare to other cities; another dead horse that won't be beaten here any longer. See where I'm going with this?

Cleveland: Retail News
"Still doing somewhat better than these downtown malls in many other cities (however, a drop in the bucket compared to what's going on in NY, Chicago, Toronto, Boston, Washington, San Francisco, etc., etc.)." Do any of those cities have demographic$ comparable to Cleveland? I think Htsguy could be onto something; the construction of the casino is going to be pretty disruptive for a while, so perhaps upon completion, retailers might see the added foot traffic (or lack thereof depending on things play out) and reconsider the viability of Tower City, and FCE might become more aggressive with tenant retention. Pure speculation on my part.

Cleveland: General Business & Economic News
Ouch. Not unexpected, but ouch nonetheless: From crainscleveland.com: Penton Media plans Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing By KATHY AMES CARR 10:48 am, February 9, 2010 New York-based Penton Media, which has about 280 employees in Cleveland, announced today it will file Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the next few days under a debt restructuring plan that, once finalized, will eliminate about $270 million of the company's debt and strengthen its balance sheet. The business-to-business media company said in a statement that there will be no layoffs, and operations will be unaffected by the restructuring plan that has been approved by lenders. Historic Ohio Theatres
Add Salem to the list - the State Theater, now Salem Community Theater. It used to have a sign running from the marquee to the top of the building but that was removed: More info at: http://www.salemohiohistory.com/HistoryMakers/State-Theater.aspx

Thread Closures / Locked Issues & Questions
Yes. If it's a large amount of people arguing, there may be a general "knock it off!" post, but usually we'll send a PM or post something if we feel that'll get the message across.

Ohio Intercity Rail (3C+D Line, etc)

Cincinnati: Downtown: Queen City Square
Welcome to the forum - although the photos are indeed impressive (especially the last one), in no way, shape or form do the owners and operators of UrbanOhio approve or encourage trespassing or violating the law for photography purposes. We love great photos but the safety of our forumers comes first. If we (the owners and operators of UrbanOhio) are contacted by any representatives of Queen City Square, Great American, the construction company, developers, or law enforcement, our only choice is full cooperation and if need be, turning over all information (ISPs, etc.) requested.

- Cleveland: Midtown: Development and News
Agreed about the snarky tone but seriously mick7012- if there's any substantial residential project that's been stalled (like Upper Chester), 99% of the time it will be because of the economic/market conditions. The fact that it's in Unversity Circle might give it a better chance once conditions improve but until then, we probably won't see much movement on it.- Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
Folks, we've had enough discussion about the ins and outs of the restaurant/hospitality business and economic theories of this or that. - Cleveland: Midtown: Development and News
