  1. Okay folks, let's save the hotel reviews for tripadvisor.com.
  2. Looks like the Lancer is no more... The Lancer Steakhouse destroyed in morning fire in Cleveland By Donna J. Miller, Plain Dealer reporter December 06, 2009, 8:41AM CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Lancer Steakhouse at 7707 Carnegie Avenue was destroyed by fire this morning. A passerby reported the blaze at 5:30 a.m., but it had been burning too long for firefighters to save the building, Assistant Fire Chief David McNeilly said. More at http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2009/12/the_lancer_steakhouse_destroye.html
  3. "The search function no longer stays within the board you initiate it from...which is extremely frustrating." Okay, THAT's an essential - we need that fixed whatever format we go with.
  4. "Heres another Cleveland t-shirt company. (certainly some "darker" ones) http://www.bctzcleveland.com/store/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=1 Do you know if they still print their logo on the back? I ask because a year or so ago I saw a shirt, loved it and then on the back it had a stylized rooster and in pretty bold letters "Big Cock T'z Cleveland". That went right back on the rack.

Since that comment has so much loaded potential, I'm just gonna call it a day.
  6. 16-20 years of age? Maybe if they were 12-16. Most of the scumbags that decide to carjack at ages 16-20 have rap sheets longer than the drive between Cincy and Columbus.

"Found this ridiculously stupid video today" And I may have to look into litigation to recoup the 47 seconds of my life that I'll never get back*. *Not that I'm contemplating anything along those lines like "Man vs. Pugs" :-D
  8. Civvik and ColDayMan pretty much nailed it; and while we try to keep everything organized, there are always going to be some grey areas. If a thread develops to the point that it might be better placed in another section, we'll move it.
  9. Compared to the prior version and the new incarnation, Babylon isn't just tidy, it's stripped down. However, I'm speaking as someone who not only participates but as an Admin, has to be able to cut through threads to kill reprimand stupid f#cktards people who violate forum policies. Now - what I will say is that the forum should always be in a format that's compatible with the largest amount of users; not necessarily the newest software.
  10. I've used Babylon for as long as I can remember - I like things clean and tidy.

First thing I did was set everything back to "Babylon".

How about this - Meredith Baxter (fka Meredith Baxter Birney), who played the mom on "Family Ties" came out on the Today show today. http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/34228231/ns/today-today_people/

"There's something about gloomy weather and industrialization that just don't go together." I wholeheartedly disagree - you've let the euphoria of Mickeylando infect your brain ;-) While it's not something I want to see day after day after day (and in January/February, I'm usually spending a week somewhere warmer/sunnier), I think there's something hauntingly beautiful about gloomy weather and industrialization. One of my favorite photos by Margaret Bourke-White demonstrates that perfectly: From the Cleveland Museum of Art, clevelandart.org And combined with the right music... Nicely done and gorgeous shots - a little odd on the editing but ah well.
  17. Folks, the county commissioners are lame ducks (remember the voting results for Issue 6?) and will be out of the discussion in about a month.
  18. Just following up with McCleveland's updates - all from the Euclid side:
  19. Just so you know (and to clarify) - the Signature ROOM is the restaurant at the top; the Signature Lounge is the bar. Stick with the Lounge :-) During the day, I'd say that dressy casual would be fine - when I was there, it was anything and everything from fanny-packing sandal-wearers to dolled up couples. A "dressy casual" shirt and nicer jeans would be perfectly fine; later at night I'd imagine people get more formal but I don't believe the lounge has any kind of hard and fast dress code.
  20. "Well.. at least at some point in the past they would have!" Those are the operative words.
  21. "Breuer house is still for sale" My retinas and soul have been scarred after seeing how they've decorated the place
  22. I'm not sure why people have forgotten that this is corporate architecture, and that very very few corporate HQs of this size are ever innovative designs. It's unfortunate but that's how it usually plays out.
  23. "I suggest the Hancock deck." Instead of going to the observation deck, go to the Signature Lounge (96th floor of the Hancock Tower) http://www.signatureroom.com/Signature-Lounge/. Instead of paying $15 for the observatory admission you can pay $8 to $10 for one (overrpriced) drink and still get amazing views. Science and Industry Museum is great - if you're seeing a specific show at House of Blues, then go for it but otherwise it's a concert venue. Can I ask what you're interested in when it comes to Navy Pier? It's really chintzy/touristy (not in a good way) and getting to/from will take up time. Millennium Park is touristy in a good way - definitely check it out. Walking Michigan Avenue (Magnificent Mile) is a great experience - check out the Tribune Tower, the Wrigley Building (catty corner to each other). It'll probably be crowded with holiday shoppers, so if you need some breathing room, head west toward State Street where it meets with Oak Street - imagine the center of Cincy's Hyde Park on steroids, that's Mariano Park where there's plenty of places to sit and get a bite to eat.
  24. Fantastic shots - I never knew about the Breuer house.
