If you don't see the images, it could be for a variety of reasons: 1. The forumer who posted them stores them on a site like flickr; some photo hosting sites only allow a certain amount of bandwidth use. For example, if the hosting site allows five "views" per day, and you happen to be the sixth person viewing the thread - you'll see "bandwidth exceeded". 2. It's possible the forumer who posted the images rearranged their images; for example if I post a photo - it has a specific link to a specific folder on my site. But if I go on my site and organize them into a different folder - the link I posted on the forum no longer works. 3. The forumer may have deleted the images.
  5. ^I'd suggest working with someone to polish the look of that before you pass it around. If you're going to be affiliated with the DCA, use their actual logo; you're asking people to invest - well make your message look like it's had effort invested in it.
  6. Just curious, do you have a fenced yard? I can only imagine how many kids in most areas would spot that and think "ooo, jungle gym!!!"

^^I've always said that love him or hate him, Gehry's work on the Weatherhead Building raised the architectural awareness for the various institutions in UC (with the most obvious results being the Botanical Gardens, CMA, CMNH's Shafran Planetarium - they could have made their additions bland boxes, after all). Not sure how I feel about this rendering of the new MOCA, though.
  8. Considering they're trying to sway public sentiment, I think it's important to take the rendering into consideration. If they're trying to "wow" people with that rendering, they're not off to a good start. The developer was quoted as "this is steak compared to hamburger" - if *that's* what they consider steak...?

"halfway between Akron and Canton, in an area that changed from rural Amish country to suburban sprawl over the years." Let me guess - Hartville? Welcome to the forum - if you could give us a ballpark estimate of your budget, that would help. You might surprisingly find a few places that will allow large dogs (probably with a deposit) because of the economy - it never hurts to ask. Just from what you're telling us, I might intially look at Lakewood, north of Detroit and possibly even Rocky River, north of I90 and east of Wagar Road. Both areas are a little older, with historic homes and commercial strips and have proximity to the lakefront. They're more densely built than "Olde Brooke Estates", with a 'streetcar suburb' feel to them. Certainly more urban than you're used to but not swan-diving into hardcore city living. You'd have a commute of less than 30 minutes (possibly 15 to 20), and a quick drive to most areas of Cleveland.
  10. ^^hubz, It's one of those things where it could be posted in a lot of different places and still be appropriate but it looks like this thread is getting the bulk of the replies. It's all good. I think that Tenenbaum's quote means that they would use existing facilities to set up casinos, rather than build a megaproject like Jacobs is suggesting. The hotel looks like it would be located at the corner of Ontario and Lakeside; I'd say this is the view from the south side of St. Clair on Mall A (by the mid-block crosswalk), looking northwest.
  11. Nice! Now imagine that entire corner with such a vibrant shade of red :-)
  12. I think it's back to tragic... they've obviously not spending their budget on the design of the hotel - from newsnet5.com: It's like a really craptacular version of the Scripps Center in Cincinnati.

I'm the youngest of two boys (aka the baby of the family). Occasionally my Mom will introduce me as "this is my baby" and instead of being embarrassed, I wear it like a badge of honor (or a tiara, take your pick). I'm also a Taurus. My friends have said I was probably like Stewie on "Family Guy", I don't totally disagree.
  14. That said, I'd like to remind everyone that while everyone on UrbanOhio loves to get detailed information about new developments, that does not mean that information/renderings should be distributed here before such distribution is approved by the parties directly involved. Carry on :-)
  15. ^And? Many of those are poorly planned, unsustainable, and bearing the brunt of the foreclosure crisis.

"The *having* of the baby was nothing compared to the first 2 weeks after it, which is just a complete, messy blur. I was having spells of vertigo because I was so sleep deprived, and the little one just needs nearly constant attention. But I knew it would be like that, I was ready. And even when I was exhausted to the point of dizziness and couldn't remember if I had actually said something out loud that I was thinking, I was happier than any day I've been at work at any job." Sounds a lot like being an Admin of this joint! :-D

Sounds pretty good - when you say Great Lakes, bottle or on draft? (on draft will help me convince the S.O. to attend :-) ).
  18. Great, one more place for me to pick up fattening fricking delicious fattening fricking delicious food!

That's my hood - nice job getting it in pics!
  20. I made a thread in the "Events" section, and linked it to the calendar.
  21. The Friends of Edgewater State Park will meet Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at 5:30pm at Latitude 41N, 5712 Detroit Avenue. On the agenda: stable clean up, spring fundraiser, logo, membership recruitment, design competition for pavilion, monthly clean-ups. Hope to see you there. Mandy Metcalf 216-577-2505
  22. What is that odd-shaped structure in the rendering just next to stern of the Mather? I believe the presentation described it as a glass enclosed building - presumably for retail/tourist uses.
  23. Some massing models from the presentation: Scav, I'd be inclined to agree if it weren't for the fact that a high-rise at that location would be directly in the flight paths at Burke.
  24. This is just awesome - if you don't mind sharing the $$$ details over the course of a few months with us, I think a lot of people would be interested.
