Well we first submit it to Mr. Nunya, then it reaches Ms. Damm who then forwards it for resolution to Mrs. Bidness! That answer your question? :-)

We all receive it - there's no "confirm receipt" that I know of. And fyi, when you click that, all the recipients can see the email you've used to register on the forum.
  3. I think this would be a *fantastic* way for Cleveland-area UrbanOhio members to contribute. I wonder if we could convince a Detroit-Shoreway eatery/bar to provide discounted eats/drinks for participants after the cleanup? :-)

Are those cosmos? My partner has quite a few blooming in the garden.
  5. I can take that one of two ways: 1. Glad my Photoshop skills are convincing, but no. 2. I *wish* UrbanOhio had that kind of budget!!!
  6. there really can be no disputing this fact. Concur Concur x2 Concur x3 Concur x4 - sorry Sherman, "well done"? Just NO. That's like going to the Precinct and asking for A1 sauce!
  7. From crainscleveland.com: National City's former headquarters building soon to bear PNC name http://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20090807/FREE/908079979 By ARIELLE KASS 1:35 pm, August 7, 2009 PNC Financial Services Group will take the first step toward re-branding National City Center in downtown Cleveland this Saturday as it begins the process of installing new signs bearing the Pittsburgh bank's name on the edifice. The signs will be installed on all four sides of the building at 1900 East Ninth St. between 5 a.m. and 8 a.m., though it will be several weeks before the new name will be visible on the building. Parts of Euclid Avenue and East Ninth will be closed until noon as a helicopter lifts the crated letters to the top. The letters — nine feet tall, and with a 12-foot PNC logo — weigh about 1,000 pounds each. The National City name was removed from the bank's former headquarters building July 23.
  8. We used the El a few times (Brown and Red Lines) - on a Saturday, we were stuck on a northbound Red Line train for about 15 minutes due to "signaling issues". The other times, everything went relatively smoothly but my friends in Chicago that delays like that aren't uncommon at all. And drivability? Pfft - they had traffic jam alerts: on SUNDAY - at 2:00 in the afternoon?!? :wtf: As I told my partner, I'd love to see Cleveland skew a little more toward the vibrancy of Chicago but not to the point that it loses that sense where you can manage things. Does that make sense?
  9. ^That's your opinion - a lot of us are interested in what's happening across the state. Just like on the forum, there's plenty of cross-pollination; a lot of us have friends, occasionally visit other cities in Ohio, etc. so we pay attention to what's going on. We may not post on every thread since - what would be the point other than boosting our post count? I regularly check out Akron, Cincy, Youngstown threads and not because I'm an Admin keeping tabs. On the other hand, we can't hold a gun to someone's head and say "check out this thread that you aren't interested in!". With all due respect, this poll honestly has a sour grapes tone - you can't expect Dayton (a smaller area) to have as many people and as many topics as the 3-C's - it's simple demographics - nothing more, nothing less. As X said, I think a thread for brainstorming to boost membership (and more importantly, participation) from smaller areas would be terrific.

    MTS, PLEASE QUIT POUNCING.
  11. Wellll, they also have people who give credibility to potentially libelous posts from an unmoderated site like cleveland.com to blame. Granted, I believe you were posting out of legitimate concern, but this site isn't the most ideal arena to settle legal issues. Just an fyi, the Admins can see where all posts are coming from (IP addresses, etc.).
  12. I find it odd that the person who first started this conversation hasn't followed up.

Going to have to take a raincheck on this one - so if anyone wants to gossip about the management, THIS is your opportunity! ;-)
  14. Burnham's plan included a train station but never included anything remotely as iconic (or tall) as the Terminal Tower.
  15. When i used the search function i didnt see anything come up in a Burke thread so i posted here. If it needs to be deleted then go ahead. Every now and then, there are going to be cross posted topics (like this). No harm, no foul.

Sushi place You have options - for great sushi in a spartan setting (lunchtime/weekdays only), there's Sushi 86 (you can always get it to go), located on Ontario just south of Public Square. For a nicer sit-down place, there's Ginza http://www.ginzasushi.com/ on Carnegie near East 9th (across from the Hilton Garden Inn). I'd advise against Sushi Rock in the Warehouse District - it's not as good as Ginza and service can be spotty. Place that serves food late (past 11pm) tomorrow night (we are @ the Key Center Marriott) Most places on East 4th - if you're craving pizza, there's Teresa's Pizza (with some beers on draft) http://www.teresaspizza.net/locations.html Italian place Osteria di Valerio http://www.pluggedincleveland.com/restaurants/1373+go.html Martini bar Kevin's Martini Bar located inside Pickwick and Frolic on East 4th: http://www.pickwickandfrolic.com/KevinsMartiniBar/index.html Wine bar D'Vine on St. Clair in the Warehouse District - http://dvinewinebar.com/ Best variety of beer bar Bier Markt on West 25th in Ohio City http://www.bier-markt.com/ Of these - the only place not downtown is Bier Markt. I'd recommend checking the websites of any place that interests you and plug the relevant phone numbers into your cellphone if you have one. That way, you can call ahead for reservations, directions, etc.
  17. From wkyc.com http://www.wkyc.com/news/local/news_article.aspx?storyid=119207&catid=3 Avon Lake break-ins have residents on edge AVON LAKE -- Homeowners in Avon Lake were taking defensive measures after at least 11 homes were targeted in a spree of break-ins Sunday night. Most of the homes had screens ripped and pried off, and windows jimmied open. Four homes were actually entered by the burglars. Greg Schenkelberg's was one of them. © 2009 WKYC-TV
  18. Welcome to the forum. And thank you for directly addressing the issue.
  19. Okay folks - last batch of photos from Chicago; your soundtrack: Okay, so we're not quite ready to go up in the John Hancock Center but let's check out their wacky parking garage entrance: Can you say exoskeleton? A little meandering around the area: Walked by this building a few times before I realized it has a curved facade - that's about the only redeeming feature, though :| D@mn tourists! ;-) There's not much to the design of this building but for some reason I like it: In the other corner, we have the Tribune Tower which has plenty going on: As does the Wrigley Building: Just a little more milling about: Merchandise Mart, 333 Wacker, and a wacky arch for Mickey D's: Alright, you guys have been patient - let's head up to the observation deck BAR! That's right - the bar of the Signature Room restaurant is actually on the 96th floor. Sure, you pay $8 for a good beer but you tell me if the views were worth it :-D A beach so close to "downtown"? Fabulous. Palm trees planted in it? Give me a break  Sorry about the noise in this pic, I had the camera zoomed as far as she'd go. That's the Chicago Skyway off in the distance: As it turns out, our friends were running late so we checked out the Gold Coast room at the Drake: And enjoyed another cocktail or two in the Palm Court. To any guys in Chicago - if your gal is a sentimental sap (I mean, it's not like I requested "Moon River" or anything ;-) ), THIS is a good place to take her - make sure that this gal is there with her harp. http://www.pennycurrier.com But it was time to go - Trump Tower and Wrigley Building from Lake Shore Boulevard: Cluster of buildings near Millennium Park: Another cluster south of Grant Park: Big church on the South side: I got yer grit right here! Onto the Chicago Skyway: Managed to outrun a nasty storm: After the mind numbing drive through Indiana, this was a welcome sight :-) Hope you enjoyed!
  20. "making it something more than just another grey facade." Sounds great - but I'll take grey over Pepto-pink! ;-)

Lelolai is in Ohio City on West 25th, close to the West Side Market. And while it's more "Mexican fusion", I highly recommend Momocho, just around the corner from Johnny Mango http://www.momocho.com
  22. His name is LeBron. Carry on. :-)
  23. HEADS UP - for anyone viewing this at work, everyone is clothed and there's nothing you wouldn't see at any beach, but just so you know ahead of time. Enjoy ;-) Soundtrack for Part 2 - take your pick, I watched Berlin perform both at their show during Market Days: And alright, so I got a little misty-eyed when they performed this - I totally missed out when this song first came out: When we last left off - we were checking out some of the sights near the Chicago River. The Carbide and Carbon Building - now the Hard Rock Cafe Hotel: The Mather Building: Chicago River twinkling in the morning sun: Chicago icons: One of the more high-profile victims of the recession, Waterview Tower - planned to be a 1,000+ ft. mixed-use tower, now just the parking garage base and even that isn't being used  Okay one more shot of Marina City and the IBM Building: A little more time was spent admiring the Jewelers Building - one of my favorites along the river: Aqua, one of the newest residential towers - making waves with its balconies ;-) The cupola of the Crains building: Art deco elements on another Michigan Avenue highrise: But it's time to go for a walk, further up Michigan Avenue, the Sofitel peeks out from behind a neighboring tower: And finally we make it to the Oak Street beach and pedway/bikeway. Okay back from the beach, here's some sportscar zipping through the 'hood: Some *gorgeous* architecture just west of the beach: But time for lunch (and people watching!): But time to head back to Halsted and Market Days! I suppose I can see why people thought the bartenders at Minibar were attractive ;-) But as Positive K said - "I Got A Man!" so we headed out to the street: Back to the Addison stage where Berlin was performing: There's Terri Nunn - still rockin' it and looking great! She got on one of her roadies shoulders who then carried her through the crowd! Rock the f#ck ON!!! As we headed out, there was more entertainment to be had! :-o And of course, drinks and revelry - so I'll just leave you with a hint of what's in the next section :-)
  24. Yep, that's what I was getting at. :-)
  25. Getting back on topic, I'm just going to say the following: 1. A comment on cleveland.com could be completely legit OR completely bogus. 2. The problem is we'll likely never know because they don't require registration. 3. Obviously any potential problems are a legitimate concern for potential residents. 4. It's fine to discuss those problems here, but again - refer to #2. 5. If people going to be dispensing legal advice - just like anyone else in their respective professions; it's probably best to be upfront about who you are. 6. Depending on what kind of advice we're talking about, I might suggest taking the discussion offline. Carry on, but keep those points in mind please :-)
