Oh for pity's sake, get your minds out of the gutter! Since I've wrapped up some big freelance projects and it was SUCH an obscenely gorgeous day, I decided to treat myself to a noontime cruise on the Goodtime III!
Sure, some of the views are from the same vantage points but the lighting is different, and this time we went waaay further south on the Cuyahoga than I'd ever been on previous cruises. Oh, and for the budget conscious, go to their website and you can download a coupon for $1 off ($14 instead of $15). https://www.goodtimeiii.com/ A special shoutout to the folks from the Bedford Recreation program - there were at least one hundred elementary-school aged kids on this cruise (the sight of more than one of them is normally enough to make me jump overboard), but the counselors did a good job at keeping the kids corralled.
In honor of the ship that got me these 90+ shots, I give you the appropriate soundtrack:
- This is THE Goodtime!!!
- And the view of downtown Cleveland from where the Goodtime is docked:
- Folks enjoying a day of fishing:
- Like I said - *perfect* weather:
- Pedestrians enjoying said perfect weather:
- A family with a small child enjoying time in downtown Cleveland?!? The h#ll you say!!!
- Kind of an odd looking plane:
- Yeah, and I was worried about how the angle of the sun would affect my pics, pfft!
- Lakewood - Gold Coast in the foreground, downtown in the background:
- Coast Guard Station - I *love* how close you can get to the river traffic (see the people on the right?)
- Just a bridge here or there:
- Tell me again how Flats East Bank isn't shovel-ready?!?
- You know the routine, just another bridge:
- Lunch crowd at Shooters on the West Bank of the Flats:
- I think this bridge is the most bad@ss (not prettiest, not coolest, but bad@ss) of them all:
- Rooflines over the years:
- Stonebridge Plaza getting a touch-up:
- Tallest in Ohio:
- Center Street swing bridge - swung:
- Postcard and postage stamp view:
- Flats foreground, Warehouse District background:
- Rinse...
... lather and repeat:
- No words needed:
- Columbus Road lift bridge detail:
- Postcard view #2:
- Framing again:
- Hooples bar, a Duck Island landmark and the West Side Market clocktower - the landmark of Ohio City, and the Columbus Road bridge:
- Landmarks of the southwestern section of the Warehouse District - the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen (thanks to KJP for clarification!) and Perry-Payne buildings:
- Framing one more time!
- And the Columbus Road bridge one more time!!
- "Diaphanus" is the best way to describe the clouds that day:
- Cleveland Trust Tower and AT&T Huron Road:
- The B&O Railroad building, *still* awaiting restoration:
- Folks at the riverfront Sherwin-Williams campus taking time from lunch to wave hello:
- While others enjoy the beautiful day:
- Detail of Landmark Office Towers, HQ for Sherwin-Williams:
- Federal Courthouse Tower:
- And the full view of Landmark Office Towers:
- Eagle Street Bridge and a few more office towers:
- The next few shots showcase some of the hottest guys in Cleveland ;-)

- Over under...
- Under over?
- If it walks, quacks - wait, that's not a duck!
- West 3rd Street bridge, one of the most recently rehabbed bridges:
- Since Cleveland is relatively flat, it's not often one gets shots like this:
- Bright sun, stainless steel = shimmery!
- To paraphrase Scooby Doo - "if it weren't for that meddling concrete silo, I'd have had a great shot!!!"
- Ah well, the towers of Playhouse Square:
- We're as far south as Tremont - Tremont Pointe in the foreground, and St. Theodosius Russian Orthodox church in the background:
- Not as close to downtown, these poor bridges don't get as much love (but they're just as kick@ss):
- Minus the big three, this looks like a respectable skyline for a smaller city:
- But you can't just forget the big three, now can ya? ;-)
- Alright, I'll shut up - just admire the bridges:

- Not sure if this guy was allowed to be on top of a gravel pile, but screw it - it made for a cool shot:
- Sorry, I love my Art Deco:
- Saw something out of the corner of my eye, thought it was a seagull - pfft!!! It's a heron!!!
- After our nature break, it's back to the skyscrapers:
- And the "towers" of Progressive Field:
- Woohoo! More scaffolding being removed from the Terminal Tower!
- This building manages to look pretty cool at certain angles:
- The Western Reserve building - Burnham in the Warehouse District!
- Okay, I see why people call the Federal Courthouse tower the "barcode" building:
- But it makes a nice "bookend" for the western part of the skyline:
- Tried this on the previous cruise - much better results this time around:
- This derelict building near the Center Street bridge looks scary and cool at the same time:
- Detroit-Superior bridge - looking superior, indeed:
- Stonebridge Towers, Stonebridge Apartments, and Stonebridge Plaza:
- Settlers Landing, with people!!!
- Sun was starting to wash out colors here:
- Sooo, nowadays when ODOT wants to build a highway, they demolish everything in a two mile radius? :?
- OHIO!!! Where's Drew Carey when you need him?!?
- ""It has always been my opinion that the shortest, easiest and least expensive communication with the invaluable back country would be to let the courses and distances be taken to the mouth of the Muskingum and up that river to the carrying place to the Cuyahoga, down the Cuyahoga to Lake Erie."
- George Washington
- Okay, other concrete silos have been converted to residential use - if that happens here, sign me up!!
- The former Coast Guard station, *still* awaiting reuse:
- Yeah, this was a good day for a cruise:
- and photos, of course:
- About time my pilot got here with my ride! :-D
- A little bit of everything in the Warehouse District:
- Lakewood, lighthouse:
- Just another skyline shot:
- I want a houseboat, and I want to anchor it right at this spot (except during the winter):
- Bridge - frame, it's all good:
- Nautica Queen, pfft! It's all about the Goodtime!!! :-D
- Five bank buildings in this pic:
- OMG, that family from the William G. Mather spent several hours in downtown Cleveland and emerged unharmed!!! ;-)
- Not sure how I missed that the Rock Hall has outdoor dining:
- I wonder if my photo is appearing on some "Sandal-wearing female photographer" forum?
- Heading south on East 9th Street:
- This was so surreal, I couldn't help but snap a pic!
- And for some reason, that plane kept circling Burke Lakefront Airport:
- Let's leave everything on an upnote - hope you enjoyed! :-)
