cardsnxtyr, that's great to hear - glad she got a chance to enjoy some of the best spots in Cleveland. The thing is - while it's not on any scale with Cleveland, there are a few historic buildings in downtown Phoenix. And much of the nightlife in Phoenix is concentrated in Scottsdale and Tempe - but whatever the case, glad to see positive feedback :-)

No matter what you think of her (and to be honest, I don't care WHO said it but it happened to be her), I *love* the quote from Jane Campbell when she was asked "what's the best thing that could happen for the city of Cleveland?" - her response? "Secede from the state of Ohio". I admire and appreciate the cities of Columbus, Cincinnati, etc. - I love visiting, I have friends there, but simply put - when it comes to transit, they didn't get it for decades and they're just now catching up to us. Cleveland alone has rail transit worth mentioning (and the first airport-to-downtown route in the Western hemisphere), along with the first BRT line in Ohio, but god forbid the downstate politicians acknowledge that, and even worse - support that!

I was there today, and aside from one small stretch between Nauti Mermaid and Starbucks, it was pretty much done. Nothing fancy but that extra square footage makes a big difference!

I'd heard that the building on the left (ugly 70s looking thing) has some structural issues - are they planning to bring it down?

Oh for pity's sake, get your minds out of the gutter! Since I've wrapped up some big freelance projects and it was SUCH an obscenely gorgeous day, I decided to treat myself to a noontime cruise on the Goodtime III! Sure, some of the views are from the same vantage points but the lighting is different, and this time we went waaay further south on the Cuyahoga than I'd ever been on previous cruises. Oh, and for the budget conscious, go to their website and you can download a coupon for $1 off ($14 instead of $15). https://www.goodtimeiii.com/ A special shoutout to the folks from the Bedford Recreation program - there were at least one hundred elementary-school aged kids on this cruise (the sight of more than one of them is normally enough to make me jump overboard), but the counselors did a good job at keeping the kids corralled. In honor of the ship that got me these 90+ shots, I give you the appropriate soundtrack: 1 - This is THE Goodtime!!! 2 - And the view of downtown Cleveland from where the Goodtime is docked: 3 - Folks enjoying a day of fishing: 4 - Like I said - *perfect* weather: 5 - Pedestrians enjoying said perfect weather: 6 - A family with a small child enjoying time in downtown Cleveland?!? It's a heron!!! 62 - After our nature break, it's back to the skyscrapers: 63 - And the "towers" of Progressive Field: 64 - Woohoo! More scaffolding being removed from the Terminal Tower! 65 - This building manages to look pretty cool at certain angles: 66 - The Western Reserve building - Burnham in the Warehouse District! 67 - Okay, I see why people call the Federal Courthouse tower the "barcode" building: 68 - But it makes a nice "bookend" for the western part of the skyline: 69 - Tried this on the previous cruise - much better results this time around: 70 - This derelict building near the Center Street bridge looks scary and cool at the same time: 71 - Detroit-Superior bridge - looking superior, indeed: 72 - Stonebridge Towers, Stonebridge Apartments, and Stonebridge Plaza: 73 - Settlers Landing, with people!!! 74 - Sun was starting to wash out colors here: 75 - Sooo, nowadays when ODOT wants to build a highway, they demolish everything in a two mile radius? :? 76 - OHIO!!!
