  1. Jayson, you absolutely have a case of copyright infringement and they should absolutely know better. Find an attorney with experience in intellectual property law and nail 'em!
  2. Everyone finished?
  3. Construction crane at V.A. Hospital for the new Cares tower
  4. Your assessment is pretty accurate - that area's nowhere near as blighted as others but the crime rates are way up there.
  5. Update of the Ireland Cancer Center construction:
  6. Facade work underway:
  7. Went with a friend to the V.A. in Wade Park; hopped on the Healthline at Cornell at 8:58am. Arrived at East 6th at 9:16am. Love it!

On one quadrant; the others have a movie theater and a grocery store.
  9. Looks like it gets a good amount of sunlight from early afternoon on... :?
  10. I believe it's in front of this building:
  11. How about we wait and see if Mov2Ohio gets any resolution to this, and get back to the topic? :-)
  12. Uh, did you not see this part? "I'm not saying this had anything to do with race, but as a few of the only blacks in the place being accosted by security while other white patrons could wear their caps pisses me off." Sorry, this is 2008, not 1958. And while this may not be a big deal for a news station, it might not help Cadillac Ranch to be known as a place with racist security staff along with the bad publicity heaped on them by the union folks. Do you think I'd steer my event planning friends to a place with that kind of rep? :|
  13. ^I take it you've done extensive research and have concrete evidence that Cleveland firms aren't up to the job in order to make that kind of generalization? Sorry - you've earned yourself a callout with that one. :-) I think I understand what you're saying - that most of what has been actually built doesn't demonstrate "outside the box" design, but is that because Cleveland firms haven't been given a chance, or because they aren't capable of anything groundbreaking? And as far as Flats East Bank - I don't believe that any of the renderings the public has seen were anything resembling final designs.
  14. Uhhh, when you live at the other end of the block of the Christmas Story house and you have tourgoers on Lolly the Trolley being driven by your house every 20 minutes, and the "authentic-firetruck-that-saved-the-kid-with-his-tongue-stuck-on-a-post" driving by with more revelers every other 20 minutes - that's about all of it that I can take. And your boyfriend is obviously a foolish mortal.
  15. 1980 for me - I'd gone with my folks to Southern Park Mall in Boardman, and signed up for a mall store giveaway. Silly me, I was 6 years old and like most boys my age, I had hopes to win a Tonka truck, or maybe a remote-controlled car. Imagine my surprise when indeed I did win a prize - a few weeks later, it arrived. It was the double-album soundtrack of Xanadu. Yes. XANADU. If that's not proof that I was ordained by the almighty to be gay, I don't know what is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T76XI2aG-jk Yeah - top that.

Should be do-able for me :-)
  17. ^Isn't that the same firm that owns Lake Park Tower in East Cleveland - the one that had the fire recently?
  18. "So if any of you see a chubby bearded man, listening to Tolstoy while sewing a pink and purple floral quilt at a bus stop in downtown Cleveland, I'm not an escaped mental patient." Compared to some of the shenanigans I've seen, that's downright tame - and waaay more cerebral than most. :-)
  19. Yeeeah, I'm not one for taking the holidays too reverently - links are NOT to be viewed at work: I remember seeing this at Visions nightclub in downtown Cleveland (now the site of Tequila Ranch, I believe) - I want to say it was 1996, because this was well before South Park had gone mainstream. Needless to say, everyone who saw it first saw primitive cartoon characters and thought "wtf?" - within minutes everyone was howling with laughter: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=srLd0z2N5WU

^Ah, gotcha - I always loved that view when I commuted from Hudson (bypassed the traffic on 77 via East 49th and went right by that spot).

Once again - fantastic images! "HDR's from the Jefferson Rd Bridge" Is this just east of West 3rd?
  22. Ad campaign will try to sell Cleveland kids on education Posted by JKroll December 01, 2008 05:48AM For information about the PolicyBridge campaign, call 1-866-975-7297 or check policy-bridge.org/educationpays once the campaign begins Dec. 8. Call them brainwashers or propagandists; they probably won't mind. Their mission is to use billboards and other advertising to indoctrinate inner-city youngsters with this message: "Education Pay$. Get Yours." More at cleveland.com http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2008/12/ad_campaign_will_try_to_sell_c.html ............ ""There was no real community-wide push that said education is important,"" I know it's a different world, and a different dynamic (well, not as different as some would like to think) but is it really necessary to spend $400,000 on billboards and a website for someone to understand that quite simply - poverty sucks?
