  1. "^^ Thanks MayDay :-) Anyone know what those units are priced like? That location looks like it might be perfect, with the obvious exception of lacking a grocery store, and i always thought the building looked pretty cool." Not really sure - I can ask for you. Keep in mind that you have Constantino's on West 9th and the Reserve Square grocery not too far, a CVS further up Euclid and you'd be about a block from Tower City for taking the Rapid over to the West Side Market. So the groceries might involve a modest schlep but not that bad in the grand scheme.
  2. "Anyone have any idea who manages the building that Bang & Clatter is in? I could have sworn there were apartments above, but I can't find anything on the E. 4th website." http://wtgrantloftapartments.com/index.html

The 11th tentatively works for me.
  4. Just an fyi, Baltimore's tallest is 529', same height as the Tower at Erieview.
  5. Saw a flyer for a "Save National City" site... what does it say when the site has a photo of the Baltimore skyline on their homepage? http://www.savencb.com/ They're supposed to have a rally at noon on Friday at Public Square.
  6. "RTA really needs to hire a serious graphics designer" A serious graphic"s" designer? As someone with over 15 years in the industry, I would caution you - to never, EVER, refer to anyone in said position as a graphics designer. Just. Don't.
  7. Not sure, but the place is packed (occasionally annoying so) at lunch - a good problem to have.
  8. Get it back on topic (aka the photos), folks.
  9. ^Take a gander at some of the clothing and jewelry that Lois Aldrin sports to different social events. I don't think the whole "capsule/5000F/plummet-to-earth" thing fazed her too much ;-)
  10. rockandroller, did our advice help, and what did you think of the Healthline on its own merits, and compared to the previous service?
  11. Off-topic, but what the heck - if anyone is familar with Dubai and Sheikh Zayed Road, the main drag where the bazillions of new highrises have been built - that's named after the patriarch of the family that FerrariEnzo mentioned.

As far as gifts for others, I've usually given my loved ones photos that I snapped earlier in the year. Those are more personal, and those seem to be more appreciated than some tchotchke. I might splurge a little for my partner and immediate family but nothing over the top. As for me, I was planning to spend a little to upgrade my camera and equipment, but considering 1. my camera's done alright so far and 2. most of the major projects I had planned to photograph have been postponed indefinitely or canceled, and 3. who knows just how bad the economy will get, I figure I might as well wait until after the holidays.
  13. "“My work is mostly informed by growing up poor in Ohio and being forced to be resourceful rather than conceptually clever,” he said." LOVE that quote!
  14. "And the Huntington Building will see vacancies jump above 50 percent with the bank leaving and Ernst & Young and Tucker Ellis & West planning moves to the Flats." http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,1823.0/msg,344289.html

  17. ^Yep, the Walker building is at the corner of Euclid and East 105th - per the CCF map, that's the last numbered street before Stokes.
  18. Anyone know the Heimlich maneuver? People ask me how it's possible for me to live in Cleveland and not really be into sports - here's a clue: I'm seeing nothing but CHOKING all over the f#cking place!
  19. rockandroller, do you know the name of the specific building? From your description it sounds like the W.O. Walker building.
  20. Don't forget that the city of Cincinnati directly subsidizes some of their downtown stores - can you imagine if Cleveland handed a $6.6 million check over to a luxury retailer like Saks?!? It's not as if the playing field is level here.
  21. I guess Huntington has a think for pinkish granite buildings:
  22. And the signage renderings... not sure that I'm a fan of the offset logo (the small "H" on the sides isn't so bad):
  23. Huntington will occupy approximately 8% of the office tower. This lease brings 200 Public Square to 90% leased. The lease, which carries a term of 20 years, consists of two full atrium level floors, a third floor, and retail space for a Huntington Banking office on Euclid Avenue and in the atrium of 200 Public Square. Huntington is expected to begin transitioning their regional headquarters as early as November 2010 with a completion date of November 2011. Within the terms of the lease, Huntington Bank will have the right to add prominent signage to the building, including the top of the tower. “We are thrilled that Huntington Bank has chosen to relocate their regional headquarters to 200 Public Square,” said Jordan Slone, Chairman and CEO for Harbor Group International. “We firmly believe we offer Cleveland’s most desirable office environment in terms of location, quality, service and amenities. Having Huntington Bank join our list of prominent tenants is strong confirmation.” “This move exemplifies our ongoing commitment to Downtown Cleveland, our customers and our community,” said Jerry Kelsheimer, President, Greater Cleveland Region for Huntington Bank. “While Huntington has grown significantly, we still believe in a ‘community banking’ approach – where we invest in our local market.” “The decision announced today by Huntington Bank is indeed welcome news and is another example that downtown Cleveland remains a competitive and attractive place for major corporations to do business,” said Mayor Frank G. Jackson. “The other strong and clear message that resonates from this announcement is that Cleveland’s public/private partnership is alive and well.” 200 Public Square is a 45-story Class A office tower built in 1985. It contains approximately 1,270,000 square feet, a 757-space parking garage, several dining options, a fitness center, conference facility and an eight-story atrium. 200 Public Square is clad with Sunset Red Texas granite, in a saw tooth design accentuated with Sequoia granite. The building is located on Public Square in the central core of downtown Cleveland and is also accessible from Superior Avenue to the North and Euclid Avenue to the South. The property enjoys excellent access to the three primary arterial roadways, I-71, I-77, and I-90, which serve Downtown Cleveland and North East Ohio. 200 Public Square is within walking distance of Cleveland’s financial district, numerous hotels, restaurants, theaters, the Terminal Tower (station of the regional Rapid Transit System), retail, and all government facilities.
