""Will you love me tomorrow" The Shirelles" One of my all-time favorites :-)
  2. ^Don't get me wrong, it was a brazen crime no matter how you look at it. But keep in mind that they were on East 13th, and it was likely pretty late. That little stretch of 13th past the Sterling building is a pretty desolate pocket without any residential until you get to the Parkview Manor. and if there was one or two streetlights out, that makes it even less safe.
  3. ^^Not exactly - you have credit unions (which are seeing increases in business), strictly online banks, and other business models. I don't think it'll get to the point of the domestic auto industry but I do see a polarization between the megabanks and the small-time operations.
  4. "If you can tell me how..." I'll try - and I'm not being a smart@ss for once :-) 1. "I can pay off school loans which are around $90,000 with a job" $90K in school loans isn't easy to pay off, no matter where you are. But when you're not spending four figures and up on rent, it's a little easier. 2. "live alone in Cleveland" Again, check the rents for a 1-bedroom around here compared to where you are now. 3. "not need a car to get around in Cleveland" http://www.riderta.com http://www.mycitywheels.com And some of us have gone out of our way to look into motion graphics jobs for you - so not everyone is just saying "la dee daa, just move here", and it'd be nice if you could acknowledge that. BACK ON TOPIC, please. :-)
  5. "I feel so effing depressed. Something in this city needs to change. What's that guy's name... you know, the guy from India... something about "being the change..." ;-)
  6. "There will always be idiots jumping in front of buses. But there always have been. The average Clevelander, whether on foot or in a car, has good enough judgment to determine when it's safe to go. Allowing them to do so is not only respectful, it improves traffic flow by letting each person make the most efficient move at the most effective time." Amen, there's only so much that can be done to protect people from their own stupidity. It's called "thinning the herd" and if someone is stupid enough to step out in front of moving traffic (regardless of whatever signaling), oh well. As someone blessed with good enough judgement and having learned at 4 years old that one needs to be careful crossing the street - the first RTA cop to issue me a warning about crossing Euclid at East 6th when there's NO traffic whatsoever is getting an earful.
  7. Are you sure about that? ;-)
  8. This is the same knucklehead that said in one of his columns - "wouldn't it be great if Cleveland had people who did art projects in different neighborhoods!?!"... yeah, they're called Cleveland Public Art - he 1. didn't even know of their existence or 2. obviously, didn't bother to call them to get any information for his column.

^You? As an Admin, I *have* to read this sick sh!t!!!
  10. ^More to the point, there have been cases where one member of a gay couple has been in the hospital; a distant cousin with whom they've never had contact, or their estranged abusive parents could legally have more control of their welfare than their partner of many years. Now, some couples have taken the steps to secure powers of attorney for each other but is that something you carry in your wallet? Speaking of - remember that issue that Ken "Bigot" Blackwell championed? Well, he was hoping to render those powers of attorney invalid - you know, that whole part about "anything resembling marriage"?
  11. Well well well, once again Steven LaTourette does something beyond grandstanding - Dennis? From cleveland.com WASHINGTON -- Bainbridge Township GOP Rep. Steven LaTourette is seeking Treasury Department and congressional investigations into whether Comptroller of Currency John Dugan steered $7.7 billion of taxpayer bailout money to his former client, PNC, so it could buy National City Bank. LaTourette noted that before being sworn in as the nation's primary banking regulator in August 2005, Dugan represented Pittsburgh-based PNC as an attorney in the Washington law firm Covington and Burling. 12. ^Oh, I'm sure he'll have a press conference at the corner of Euclid and 9th - after all it's a business shutting down!
  13. "MayDay-You seem to be interested in placing blame. I am not concerned with who is at fault. It is not relevent to the solution." I'm simply saying that had the execs at National City exercised some restraint, it wouldn't have been so decimated by the fallout. Yes, the fact that bailout funds are being used to aid M&A's is disturbing but what's done is done. National City is gone, it's not coming back and that didn't have to be the case - had better judgement been exercised, National City could have been in the position to receive TARP funds rather than be acquired. From cleveland.com: http://blog.cleveland.com/business/2008/10/the_events_that_led_to_nationa.html Four key periods led to National City sale Posted by rmezger October 27, 2008 00:01AM The sale of National City to PNC Financial Services has its roots in decisions made years ago. As Northeast Ohio tries to digest the demise of National City Corp., one of Greater Cleveland's oldest companies, the simple question arises: Why did it happen?
