  1. Okay folks, I guess it's time to fess up. I completely fabricated this press release and Photoshopped a new facade - the Tower at Erieview is NOT being reclad any time soon. Please don't hate me, but April Fools!!! ;-)
  2. KJP - glad you can make it! Vulpster, it'd be great if you could make it too. :-)
  3. Alright folks - it's going to be low 40s tomorrow so bundle up. Crop Bistro at West 6th and Frankfort, 12 noon - closest stop is B-Line Trolley (West 6th and Frankfort), the 20a, 22, 25, 26, 35, 45, E-Line, and 79 drop off at West 6th and Superior. Driving? Good luck! :-D Oh and since MTS is a cheapskate, bring enough cash to cover your tab.
  4. Well if you're going to be so hoity-toity to suggest "somewhere more fabulous" than Crop, I think you should offer to cover our tabs! After all "to those whom much is given, much is required". Noon @ Crop, Wednesday, April 2nd folks - be there or be from Shaker Square!
  5. No, no one in the history of mankind has ever made the remark that gambling and lotteries are a "poor tax". Thank you for enlightening us with your truly original epiphany.
  6. Well you know how we operate here at UrbanOhio.com - if there's an announcement of some massive project that would make urban geeks get their collective jollies, we sure as h#ll wouldn't take the time to POST it here! :-P I'd say the Erieview proposal is interesting even though it's not new construction.
  7. Well, princess, everyone else has been courteous enough to let me know so I can get an accurate headcount. What's your excuse? ;-)
  8. Um, if you have absolutely no intentions of attending, kindly butt the h#ll out. :-) Granted, I know that I'm one of those odd people who realizes that just because I *can* say something, it doesn't mean I *SHOULD* say something. How does 12 noon work for everyone - those that are planning to go?

This firm is in the building where I work - no idea of their rep, or if these positions are still open but never hurts to try: http://www.osborn-eng.com/careers.html
  10. "I don't mean abandoned projects (Jacob's tower) or even likely abandoned projects (like Stark's Warehouse District)" Tell us again your source for this info?
  11. I know a lot of buildings in NYC are having their 60s/70s facades replaced with glass or other materials, I guess Cleveland's finally getting into the act. :?
  12. Got this in my email this morning. I wondered why they had asked me for permission to use this image - now I know why. This is pretty interesting - I think I might actually miss the dark facade, but who knows? For immediate release: Minshall Development Company continues to invest in Tower and Galleria at Erieview 04/01/08 Melanie Faczant, Marketing Director, Minshall Development Company It is with great pleasure that Minshall Development Company announces the next phase of improvements for the Tower and Galleria at Erieview, our signature property in downtown Cleveland. Minshall Development Company CEO Werner E. Minshall states "the investments at Erieview represent Minshall Development Company's enduring commitment to downtown Cleveland". Dollar Bank, a regional bank based in Pittsburgh, is relocating a retail branch and offices from the Tower at Erieview to the corner of East Ninth Street and St. Clair Avenue. This relocation and expansion is the result of a multi-million dollar investment. The exterior of the bank branch will feature a high-profile digital screen, glass facade, and a new entrance at the southwest corner. The Tower at Erieview is to undergo major capital improvements to better serve our tenants. A new and efficient HVAC system is scheduled to be completed by the end of May 2008. This new system utilizes the latest "green" technologies to provide a comfortable environment for tenants and guests of the Erieview complex. Installation and design of the HVAC system was handled exclusively by Johnson Controls, Inc. Representing the largest investment in the next phase of improvements, the existing facade of the Tower at Erieview will be removed and replaced with energy-efficient panels. The panels are composed of an aluminum alloy which will reflect heat, reducing the load on the building's cooling system. The new facade will also improve the aesthetic appeal of the Tower at Erieview, affirming its status as a landmark of downtown Cleveland. DAS Construction, Panzica, and Coon Restoration have been selected as the team responsible for the facade replacement. For further information about the Tower and Galleria at Erieview, contact: Minshall Development Company 1301 E. Ninth Street Cleveland, Ohio 44114 Management Office 216.861.4343 Fax 216.861.0209 [email protected]

Interesting first post... what type of music do you prefer?
  15. Best guess: Shoreway westbound: Shoreway eastbound:
  16. Great set of photos, Andrew - you've done a fantastic job covering so much area, getting shots of the city's beauty, along with some of its warts. Wonderful job!
  17. I was at the site yesterday taking photos for Zaremba and yes, it sounds like the townhomes are selling quite well. The "second" crane for the 1211 St. Clair building was used to dismantle the tower crane.

More downstate whining... from a former hoodrat, even!

Up yours, you classist goyim. Sorry, that was inaccurate - you SINGLE classist goyim! :-P
  20. I admit it's off topic but my favorite episodes are the yuppies who waaaay over-improve their home and act devastated when the realtor points out that spending $50K to improve a half-bath in the basement MIGHT not have been the wisest investment :-D
  21. "What does the group think about the Eaton massings? Does this relieve the "campus" fear?" Not completely. I'm seeing a moat of greenspace around a midrise with a pedestrian bridge connection over the tracks. On the south side, I can understand needing a buffer (and barrier) for the Norfolk/Southern tracks, but to the west... not liking what I'm seeing. As mrnyc said, with anything of this scale it's gonna be hard to get a "A" for every single element, but of course this rendering is still in the preliminary stages.
  22. Hate. Comments. cleveland.com Sorry, are we supposed to shocked? ;-) Welcome to the forum, btw.

"Actually its only a 30 minute drive" A 30 minute drive after a long tiring flight? No thanks!
  24. "The WFL is the cleavage of the Flats East Bank" RTA's newest ad campaign!
