If the critics were strictly from a poorly moderated nightmare *cough*cleveland.com*cough*, I might agree with clvlndr. But knowing a few of the critics personally, and a few via the forum enough to know that they're level-headed people just wanting to find yet one more local place deserving of support, sorry - I'd say that thus far, I'm hearing fair critiques. Maybe five or more years ago, Clevelanders might have tolerated so-so service (even with the best intentions) in a fabulous space but thanks to so many folks in the restaurant biz who busted their @sses (again, some I know personally) to provide high quality service and food - with FAR less hype than 2020 has received, Cleveland's dining scene has matured. I'd say it's matured enough that it's no longer a case of "wow, it's like a place you'd find in NYC!", it's now finally "wow, it's a place that compares with the best in Cleveland!". It's like rockandroller said - intentions are great, and even I will admit the concept of employing the difficult-to-employ is wonderfully admirable, and by all that I hold holy, I hope they succeed, but like I say about so many institutions, people, and places in Cleveland - NO ONE IS BEYOND REPROACH. Their goals are great, and my heart goes out to them because everyone knows the restaurant biz is absolutely brutal. I sooo wish them well but from everything I'm seeing and hearing, they REALLY need to get their sh!t together. And this is coming from someone who you DON'T need to convince that supporting your locals is essential to your city's health.

She was TOTALLY robbed and that show has BY FAR the worst editing I've ever seen. Say what you want about Tyra-nasaurus and Top Model but at least each contestant gets their appropriate time at judging.

Sure, Dollar Bank currently has their offices in a low-profile spot in the first floor of the Tower at Erieview (aka behind the Galleria). They're moving from that spot to a much larger and much more prominent space at the corner of East 9th and St. Clair. In doing that, they're also going to be "opening" up that corner of the Galleria with glass replacing a lot of the panels and other enhancements:

^I should clarify. 1. I'm of Irish-German descent. So apparently I'm in the .0001 segment ;-) 2. People who say "wooooo!!! Let's drink green beer!!!! WOOOO!!!!!" should be shot on sight. 3. Why anyone would even drink green beer knowing they'll be ill later - it's green when it comes back up, folks! 4. I go to the parade, linger long enough to take photos and am OUTTA there by the end of the business day. It's a little obnoxious by the time I head back to work, but it's not like you're surrounded by idiots. That usually happens when work lets out - jeremyck01, if you're not wanting to deal with obnoxious drunks - check out the parade and then stay out of downtown after 4pm-ish.

I'd say if you want to dine at Lola - go at lunch - I took my partner there for a birthday lunch and I recall quite a few vegetarian options. As X said, and I would recommend - try Saigon across the street - like most Vietnamese restaurants they have a slew of vegetarian entrees (at great prices - most are less than $10.00 at dinner). It's the newest place on East 4th Street and looks great. There's also the Mexican restaurant/tequileria Zocalo which is essentially next door to Saigon, but I've only been there for lunch and I'm not a vegetarian so no clue what they offer. I'd also heartily recommend Tremont Tap House - especially if you like trying a variety of beers. I think they have something like 24 on tap - let me put it this way - I overheard someone ask for "something like Miller Light" and the server said "the closest we have is Stella". So when their most mainstream beer is Stella, you know it's more a beer connoisseur's joint. For vegetarian food - I highly highly highly recommend either: the egg/spinach/blue-cheese/apple on raisin bread sandwich *or* the macaroni and cheese with figs and rosemary. Both are damned tasty. Bar Cento, next to Bier Markt is another great spot. They specialize in wood-fired pizzas and you can order beers from the Bier Markt list so you aren't just limited to everything on Bar Cento's menu. Across the street is Phnom Penh, with Cambodian/Thai cuisine - so you might have vegetarian options there as well. If you happen to be downtown during the day and want to grab lunch - go to the Market Cafe in the AmTrust (Ohio Savings) building at East 9th and Chester. Cafeteria-style, but focused on sustainable practices, etc. - lots of vegetarian fare as well. Oh - and you have to be downtown during the St. Patrick's Day parade - as much as I loathe the amateurs who can't enjoy their drink responsibly, there's something to said for seeing several hundred thousand people reveling in downtown Cleveland:

Yes, it finally stopped snowing and we finally got some sunshine AND the thermometer finally hit 60! Just a short thread to capture the ambiance - since we're supposed to be around 35 tomorrow :-P Of course, we start at the Avenue District: The next batch of townhomes is shaping up nicely: DCA Ambassadors doing their thing (shooing away the parasites panhandlers that are particularly obnoxious on this stretch: Yyyyes!!! :clap: Between the War Memorial statue and the Hope Guardians and this guy... there are some hotties in Cleveland! (inanimate, but oh well): Pausing for lunch at the Arcade: THE store for all things Cleveland!!! An angle I'll never get tired of: The Arcade is beautiful inside and out: It's not one of the more well-known buildings downtown but I like the Superior Building's facade: The Dollar Bank expansion at the Galleria - not too exciting but it'll improve this corner: It's no Arcade but I like the Galleria when sunlight pours in: And the food court - if they could ever get the retail component to be this busy, they'd be set!

I've said it before, I'll say it again - get the the folks at WSM and Duck Island NIMBYs to breathe for a second, realize the world won't end if they built up the area a smidge and put that massive swath of asphalt and the craptacular strip plaza to better use - the green is retail on the first floor, residential (market-rate only) or office above, and parking hidden from the street. It could be *half* the height of the rendering and still provide ample parking: H#ll, tear down the plaza and build that complex first - that way WSM still has parking for the "amateur days" :roll:

Get a better camera - specifically a DSLR - and I don't mean this in a snarky "quit being cheap" way because I'm considering an upgrade myself. One of the limitations of point-and-shoots is that nowadays they come crammed with more and more megapixels but many use the same processors/equipment from the original incarnations of the camera. That's one main reason for the noise, and DSLRs are designed to mitigate that.
