Just to clarify, the building that was demo'd was the Woolworth Building, not the Empire State.

Cleveland Eateries: A Where To Guide for Visitors and Residents
I've walked by Freddie's on many a late Saturday night and not once did it ever occur to me that I'd want to ingest anything from there. Who'da thunk?

Cleveland Eateries: A Where To Guide for Visitors and Residents
Gotcha - I didn't realize it was more than a "taste" issue for you :( I will say that the food (from what little I've had) is still worth the trip. :-)

East Cleveland - Shaw Marching Band
http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,7355.msg213348.html#msg213348 Having come from a poorer background, I can testify to the life-changing experience this trip will be for these kids. For most of them, it's not likely that they often get to travel, much less abroad. I *still* vividly remember my first band trip - to NYC and I can only imagine how amazing this will be for them. :-)

Cleveland Eateries: A Where To Guide for Visitors and Residents
"My friend got the Mac and Cheese that has figs in it, which was just amazing...whoops, I mean inedible." That was second on my list but not having been to the gym recently - I decided to try that another time, if.I.must. ;-) rockandroller, here's a sincere question - what beers have you tried, and have you ever been to a tasting that matched beers with certain foods? I'm not saying that would completely change your tastes, but just like wine there are beers that are so bitter they strip your palette to beers that taste like melted chocolate to anything in between. A few friends who also prefer wine to beer seemed to like Belgian white ales (along the lines of Blue Moon).

^You've gone to quite a few UO meets and needless to say, we didn't feel the least bit uncomfortable! ;-)

East Cleveland - Shaw Marching Band
And Shaw's band will play in China Friday, February 15, 2008 Connie Schultz Plain Dealer Columnist Donshon Wilson picked up his ringing phone on the morning of Monday, Jan. 28, and heard an excited voice on the line. "You've got to get to the treasurer's office right away," an East Cleveland school administrator said. No sooner had he hung up the phone when it rang again. By the third call, the Shaw High School Marching Band director decided to see what was wrong. Cleveland - next UrbanOhio forum meet will be....
Hi all, we're going to have our first official UrbanOhio lunch meet (not lunch meat) on Wednesday, February 20th. at NOON In addition to meeting and hanging out with the "cool kids", our goal is to bring a little extra business to locally owned spots so our first destination will be Octane Cafe at 528 Euclid Avenue. http://www.octanecafe.com/ If you can make it, please reply in this thread or send me a PM - if we have enough people, I'll go a little early and snag some tables. Hope to see you there!

Where do you usually hang out in your city?
"Any other gallery recommendations in Cleveland?" Anytime there's an opening at Cleveland Public Art or at Josaphat Arts Hall's Convivium33 Gallery, it's almost always a great crowd: http://www.josaphatartshall.com/ "Otherwise, I hate going out by myself and just sitting there pretending to read the paper while I wait for my food." Really? In my single days, I was happy to grab my favorite magazine and head out to wherever I felt like grabbing a bite. Between people-watching and reading, it was just nice to soak up the atmosphere. A few servers even said "you're just here by yourself? That's pretty brave." but I just thought there's nothing brave about it, I just wanted out of the house. At work, I always grab lunch out, and almost always eat on my own. As far as my haunts: The South Side (Tremont) West Side Market - peabody99, you're too funny ;-) Great Lakes Brewing The Arcade (lunchtime people-watching spot) Medical Mutual Plaza (quieter lunchtime people-watching spot) Prosperity (Tremont) Flying Fig (happy hour)

Cleveland Eateries: A Where To Guide for Visitors and Residents
I finally made it to the Tremont Tap House last night. I'll say this much ;-) - I was not impressed by the vast amount of beers (good beers) on tap; I did not care for the Bear Republic Hop Rod Rye Ale with its hoppy yet smooth flavor; I was not finding the exposed brick appealing, nor was I impressed by the local artists' work that was on each table; I did not find my blue-walnut/apple/egg/raisinbread sandwich absolutely delish; my partner did not think there was any flavor with his chicken baguette - overall folks, just stay away, I'll go ahead and go back a few times - you know, just to support a local but really just stay away. Just go down to Applebees in Steelyard Commons ;-)

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
I'm not going to prune this thread or anything but if we can keep the dining reviews in the "Cleveland Eateries: A Where To Guide for Visitors and Residents" thread, that'll keep things tidier :-) http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,3577.0.html

And speaking of the Dollar Bank expansion at the Galleria, they've just installed a large video screen on the East 9th facade.

Probably - at one point a Doubletree and a Homewood Suites were slated for the area west of West 3rd and north of Lakeside (aka just north of the Warehouse District).

Cleveland: Random Development and News
Between the Dollar Bank offices, the Avenue District and this, there's a nice chunk of change being invested into the Galleria area.

Happy St. Valentines Day - 2008
Rando, with a description like this: "Your sampler could include the following flavors: Triple Chocolate Chunk Chunky Walnut Toffee Almond Crunch Butter Pecan Peanut Butter 'Buckeye' Blitz Raspberry Soiree Hot Chocolate (Aztec Spicy) Kona Buzz (Espresso) Cheesecake" I think you did just fine! "Thats sweet. So what did you get for him?" A little bit of Nunya, a pinch of Dayum and a healthy helping of Bidness! ;-)
