Cleveland: Bob Stark Warehouse District Project
A little modification for KJP's mantra: "Think first. Then write. Then re-read what you've written and ask yourself why your posts come across as incoherent diatribes". :wtf:

Cleveland: Retail News
^There was, but I believe the owner lost the franchise - it's now "Double Donuts" - whatev.

Cleveland Eateries: A Where To Guide for Visitors and Residents
Have to give kudos to Lola - I took my partner there for a birthday lunch yesterday. The space is gorgeous with the glowing alabaster (or onyx) bar, coffered ceilings, quirky light fixtures and a variety of seating options. Pricewise, they really weren't too bad - pricier than fast food or takeout but they have a nice "Lola Express" menu where you get your choice of half-sandwich, soup, or salad for $11. My S.O. had the Lola burger - he loved it and the fries were seasoned with sea salt and rosemary - I ended up stealing quite a few. I had the "Lola Express" and chose the spicy chicken salad sandwich and spicy tomato bisque - the sandwich was pretty good; a little on the small side but enough that I didn't go away hungry. The tomato bisque was awesome and perfect for a cold winter day. The highlight was the chocolate-peanut butter mousse dessert - deee-fricking-lishous!!! An added treat - Michael Symon was in and you could hear his diabolical laugh all over the place

Forbes: America's Most Miserable Cities
I've never understood why anyone would enjoy seeing any city on a bad list. Then again I've never understood why people on this forum even pay attention to these worthless lists.

Cleveland: Steelyard Commons
And why would you need to support a chain like West Elm when you have Duo Home or Anthropologie when you have Room Service - both located in Detroit-Shoreway: http://www.roomservicecleveland.com/info.html http://duohome.com/default.aspx You're all a bunch of chain loving suburbanites!!! ;-)

Cleveland: Downtown: The 9 / Rotunda / County Admin Development
"other development dorks of my caliber that would be interested." I (and a bunch of us) resemble that remark!!! ;-)

Cleveland: Steelyard Commons
And THAT is exactly what I mean. Sorry, MTS - we warned you. Folks - when Admins or Moderators say "the next person to post something off-topic gets time off" - that's not the best time to add silly commentary. That's when it's best to:

Cleveland: Steelyard Commons
It has two, actually - this was regarding the bickering about what stores were beneath MTS's standards: But folks - the next off-topic post gets the perp three days off. Thank you! :-)

Cleveland: Downtown: The 9 / Rotunda / County Admin Development
^And you didn't have a camera with you? BANNED!!! :whip: Back when the county had just bought it, I sent an email to Peter Lawson Jones asking if I could do a walkthrough. Never heard back from him.

Cleveland: Shoreway Boulevard Conversion
Amen and well said! Chester might be a PITA compared to some rinkydink backwater but it's NOTHING compared to most comparable cities. Anytime someone complains that "waaaah, my commute's going to be 5 minutes longer" - I want to dropkick them to somewhere like Chicago (or even smaller cities which have much worse commute times than Cleveland) and let them stew in their juices and grow some ulcers. Then they can come back and realize just how easy they have it. Suck it up, nancies!

Cleveland: Filling in Euclid Avenue
There HAS be some way to remedy this - those f#cktards at ODOT tried to pull the same thing in my hood with the Steelyard Roundabout (a sign about 20 feet by ten feet over West 14th - I don't think so!) - they were told where they could stick that monstrosity. I refuse to believe those signs on Euclid can't be adjusted. http://www.freetimes.com/stories/14/19/chatter-big-mistake

If you were to start a business...
"Sounds regressive to me." That's because you aren't one of the "chosen ones" - we can't all be so blessed ;-)

If you were to start a business...
David, what you're suggesting is that "my people" lose our collective mystique when it comes to our (well, MOST of our) instinctual fashion sense. I simply cannot advocate anything that would dilute our brand by suggesting "anyone can do it!". ;-)

CLEVELAND - A quick trip to the West Side Market!
Oh I'll be the first to say I'd love to see a little more gentrification around here!

Cleveland: Shoreway Boulevard Conversion
As Jane Campbell once said, one of the best things that could happen for Cleveland is for our region to secede from the state of Ohio.

CLEVELAND - A quick trip to the West Side Market!
RBCA - welcome to the forum - love your blog, btw! :-) For the record, I would love to live closer to the Market... it's not so much the time or even the money I'd spend there, it's the effect the time/money would have on my waistline. It's like you said, you can get so much food for so little money (and that's NOT including the "produce by the ton" vendors) - I'd have a hard time knowing when to stop. I'm a Taurus and we are all about creature comforts - food being close to the top of the list. And besides, I can't cook too well too often - I can't have my partner expecting great meals every day! ;-)

Moving to Downtown Cleveland
Nope, this is perfectly fine as far as subject matter. I've never heard anything about the Bradley Building but I did stop in during a Warehouse District tour. The finishes seemed pretty nice and the unit I toured was also on the Cloak Factory side - it seemed pretty quiet. Good luck and keep us posted! And oh what the heck, it's one of my favorites, here's a photo of it:

Cleveland: University Circle: Cleveland Clinic Developments
I added a few photos of the area in general - just to give it perspective. I have to agree - if the Planning Commission approves suburbanized setbacked garbage like the UH heart center AND the demo of this building, they're even more worthless than I thought and waste of my tax dollars.

Cleveland: University Circle: Cleveland Clinic Developments
"UCDD 08-002 – Cleveland Clinic Foundation – Demolition of the Carnegie Medical Building (former Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine) 10501-10523 Carnegie Avenue Demolition of the 1930 eight-story stone & steel building that was occupied by the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine until 2007. The now vacant site will be converted to surface parking. Brian Smith – Cleveland Clinic Foundation David Krymowski – Cleveland Clinic Foundation Carmine Russo – Cawrse & Associates, Inc." Three idiots in a row - here's what they want to demo, folks - for surface parking: And to the right of that vantage point: And to the right of that: Toby can take his supposed interest in Greater Cleveland's aesthetics and cram them up his aorta for all I care.
