Just 6 megapixels. Sorry to disappoint:

It's a little more coherent than some of Edsiou's posts, but that's not saying much.

Ahem - was going on a cruise* at Christmas - I wasn't going anywhere NEAR a place that sold dark-chocolate covered macaroons! *http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php?topic=14827.0 http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php?topic=14828.0

CLEVELAND - All the cool kids are doing it!
Nope, just lots of practice with Photoshop's crop tool (with perspective clicked) and image resize.

"That Gehry looks so light-reflective. Anyone ever get sunburnt standing near it?" Not that I'm aware of but now that I think about it - that would be a great way to stop the once-every-two-month tanning bed visit. "Didn't we almost die over here a couple of years ago?" No, the spot you're thinking of is to the southwest of where I took that photo. And like I say about near-death experiences, Cleveland winters, and a good stiff drink - "It builds character, son!!!" :drunk: caitskee, we'd love to see your photos!

Ahh Hugh Hefner... what a classy and inspiring precedent to follow  Thanks for the history lesson but I'm well aware this isn't the first. Rando, that's a Photoshop job, just like this:

Cleveland: University Circle (General): Development and News
Gotcha - though it's actually because my birthday is May 1st. :) So how about that Collegiate Gothic Drag? Maybe it'll be our new catchphrase to replace "World Class Signage" :-D

You should go into the signage business. I like your style. I'm a designer, not a copywriter ;-)

Kendle International Branding Carew Tower
"Bank of America and P&G do not need to put their name on their buildings because you already know the building is theirs and they occupy it" I do. You obviously do. However, outside of Cincinnati (or Charlotte in BofA's case), I can assure you the average person would not recognize those buildings, much less what company that's headquartered there. Show someone from outside the region a picture of P&G and tell me how quickly they respond with "don't be silly, that's the P&G headquarters". Even so... you don't see the marketing people at either being so insecure that they resort to such a gauche measure. "It was either this or they leave downtown for the burbs.........got to pick your evil sometimes." If being able to deface the tallest historic landmark in Cincy was their compelling reason to stay downtown, they have seriously warped priorities. Like I said - I've regrettably had to deal with the self-important and vapid people who - rather than just ask their boss to "drop trou" and pucker up, find it easier to kiss @ss by proposing a needless company logo slapped atop a landmark office tower. I'd be fine if they kept their idiocy to themselves and confined to their conference rooms but now they'll be inflicting it on everyone.

Cleveland: Downtown: Euclid & 9th Tower / Schofield Building Redevelopment
As long as they don't strip the paneling and let it linger and linger and linger and linger and linger and... you know, like the Atrium Building. Sure, *I* know the reason it looks the way it does but Joe Blow on the street doesn't and in turn, that gives jack@sses like Feagler more ammo to call the Euclid Corridor project a boondoggle. The least they could do is plaster up a banner saying "This building looks like this because we had to strip the 70s panels off to try to qualify for historic tax credits - so quit b!tching already!".

Proof is in the pudding - w28th's right. I wouldn't mind a little more attention to detail - I don't mind my tax dollars being used but I expect a little better than this:

Cleveland: Downtown: Euclid & 9th Tower / Schofield Building Redevelopment
OMG, you bunch of dorks need to just settle down. First - WHO goes out of their way to check on the Euclid progress?!? Second - it's just an old building - big deal! Like I care! Oh alright, I confess: I had photos of this by 12:20: Looks like some of the decorative work on the top portion of the pilasters might be damaged but it's probably fixable: I'd be curious if they plan to restore the clock tower on the corner:

"Neighbors objected strenuously to the new building, because it replaced a community garden that once occupied the site." Steven Litt's channeling Demi Moore? :wtf:

Alright, since others are doing their 2007 recap threads, I might as well join in the fun: Thank you... And good night :-)

Kendle International Branding Carew Tower
That's appalling - what is it with insecure and self-important marketing people in medium-sized companies and their incessant need to deface landmark towers? I can understand adding signage to a bland shoebox tower, but let's see - Bank of America doesn't have their logo on their HQ's crown in Charlotte, P&G doesn't have a logo plastered between the "twins"... so why do these dipsh!ts think this is ever a good idea? If you're worried that your company doesn't have brand recognition, how about improving your brand and product before you justify your employment by plastering your ego logo on a beautiful building? Idiots.

Cleveland: Random Development and News
Long story short - back in the day, emporis.com was known as skyscrapers.com. The "team" behind it asked me if I'd like to help them develop their Cleveland section. I said I'd help, because I'm such a nice guy. I added the most basic info but they wanted me to basically take all the work I did (information AND photos) for my site and hand it over to them - they also wanted me (and other section/city editors) to update our stuff every six weeks or we'd lose our access. I explained that Cleveland didn't really add new buildings every six weeks, and that I had no intentions of replicating all of my work on their site but they wouldn't hear it and rescinded my access out of spite. What they didn't do is remove the images (or credit them) that I had uploaded until I raised a little h#ll. Others have had problems with them as well - from what I went through to failure to pay for licensed photos. They're a shady operation to say the least (unfortunately there are good people who are caught up in their bullsh!t), and they don't respect the people who could have helped them the most.

Cleveland: HealthLine / Euclid Corridor
Update on the south side of Euclid between East 6th and Public Square - a lot of streetlamps have been installed. They're shorter than the Public Square lights which should brighten things nicely. Pretty snazzy if you ask me:

Cleveland: Random Development and News
To the best of my knowledge, there are no renderings of the First Union proposal - or at the very least, none that were made available to the public. Btw, emporis.com's information about Cleveland buildings is spotty at best. You're better off asking me. :-)

A close-up view of that building - I believe DFAS will be staying put in the Federal Building:

15 things we love about Cincinnati
Union Terminal would make my list if it was still a transportation hub along the lines of Grand Central. Don't get me wrong, it looks great and the history behind it is impressive but not being in use as a primary transportation facility takes away from it - for me. What I love about Orchid is that it's not the smallest space but there's so much deco accent and proportioned just right to give it a human scale - it's awe-inspiring and at the same time intimate. Honest to god - if you're dressed in anything less than dressy casual, you walk into this space and feel uncomfortable but it's at the same time such a cozy spot to enjoy some cocktails. God I *wish* there was a place like this in Cleveland.
