Too expensive, or not in your price range?

My memory is fuzzy but wasn't the Jay Hotel operating in 2005? That would account for a lot of the crimes near Dave's.

When I first saw Lorain (back in the day), I was expecting the downtown area to be along the lines of Canton or a smaller Youngstown - needless to say, I was kind of underwhelmed.

How about you knock off the trash talk, w28th. You don't have to like other architects in this city, but tone down the venom.

Preferable to Bud Light, but inferior to Great Lakes, Buckeye Brewing, etc.

I do think this is a good idea so that when the time comes to add additional mods, we have a good feel for who might be a good fit. :-) "No, I meant MayDay." I've been hated a lot worse by a lot better, beeyotch! :wink:

What's prompted your nominating another moderator? Do you feel that the current mods aren't doing their job? I'm not asking to be combative, it's just that I haven't heard too many complaints about our current mod roster.

THANK you, both! :clap: I know I'm a broken record, but honestly - that is one of the easiest ways to promote your business. More to the point, it's the easiest way for happy customers to spread the word. It doesn't need to be anything fancy, just a blurb about who you are, location, hours of operation and the menu.

I am NOT crabby... the proper term is "ill-tempered". :-D Anyhoo, if the place was easily Googled (or gee, they actually put up a site and advertise it), we wouldn't have this problem.

For the love of the mother of all that's holy - the next person to comment about their visit to Latitude (or any other worthwhile sounding place) without getting a website or at least hours of operation gets a week off.

The problem is that Crocker Park is in a bubble - across Crocker Road you have a string of the garden-variety office building/sea of asphalt crap from Detroit going south. Then you have the Crocker-Stearns extension to I-480 which is going to pour a sh!tload of traffic onto Crocker. As much as I'm for traffic calming, I don't see much benefit for the area by locating shops along Crocker.

It's not just people your age - unfortunately people in general are a combination of apathetic or busy and it leaves very little time for "extras". Just an example - when we first discussed having a forum "happy hour" meet, dozens of people said "yeah, that'll be great!". While I'm glad and grateful for the people who DID show up, it's never been more than six to eight. It's frustrating because so often people complain about a lack of social outlets, yet when one is available they don't take advantage of it. So believe me, I feel your pain and I sometimes think "why bother?". :| I think what you're doing is great but as stated earlier, it's pretty ambitious. I would definitely recommend finding certain core elements to focus on and then add more as your site/project develop. Dealing with younger folks and trying to get them involved is probably like trying to herd cats. Once you can get a few people involved in specific areas, it might be easier to grow from their input.

Alright folks - thanks to StrangeBrew for inviting me over to the 1211 St. Clair construction site. Some great (better than you'd expect from 8 floors up) views from up there! Not sure if it's been mentioned but Long Phung (formerly the Big Egg) is being remodeled - looks like it will still be a Vietnamese restaurant. Speaking of - I picked up some of Minh-Anh's "Cinnamon Beef Soup" (aka pho) tonight... it had been a while so I was curious if it was as good as I remembered it:

The pedestrian map/kiosks are a terrific idea - when they first proposed them for Cleveland, some people balked but honestly I see people using them all the time. I'd be curious about the Columbus design proposal - it doesn't look like there's any way to sell ad space (which is how Cleveland's are funded). They're a great way for the smaller local businesses to get exposure since they can purchase a smaller space on a single kiosk rather than have to "buy in bulk".
