"And, btw, in case you noticed, this is a forum. I don't know who you are or who you think you are, but people are allowed to voice their opinions whether you happen to like them or not." Apparently I need to remind people that participation in this forum is a privilege, not a right. And you should apologize to X because as you know, that's not how we talk to each other here. He made a very valid point - he might care deeply, but he doesn't need to constantly rant and rave about something to show it. Don't worry, I edited your thread appropriately but consider this a warning.

I believe peabody posted that in response to Cleveland's statement regarding "I don't have to worry about my car getting stolen, getting mugged or picking up some weird disease."[/i] That said... BACK ON TOPIC!!! :whip: :whip: :whip:

German solar company plans HQ in Cleveland
An acquaintance was interested in applying for the City's sustainability position - mind you, this was years ago (pre-Jackson) but they declined to take the position when they were told "well, we don't want to be too efficient with certain things - we don't want to upset Cleveland Public Power".

"Does anyone know what's going in next to the substation across from Target and south of Best Buy?" Have you seen the lease plan? Are you referring to something that's not labeled or am I thinking of somewhere else? PDF - large file: http://www.steelyardcommons.com/pdf/SiteLeasePlan1.pdf

"Because the worse Cleveland gets, the worse the suburbs get. Look at Cleveland Heights. Hell, look at South Euclid these days." Yeah, they both remind me of Baghdad

Cleveland: HealthLine / Euclid Corridor
I'm sensing a lot of the same train of thought that resulted in the fence being left on the Detroit-Superior Bridge Promenade. Bear with me, it's somewhat related. According to state law, the original railings of the Detroit-Superior Bridge are up to code and by law - the fences aren't necessary. However, because a few concerned parties lobbied for the fences (mainly to protect people from their own stupidity and/or inflicting their stupidity on others), the fences stayed. As Lillian Kuri said - "it's sad that in America we use the lowest-common denominator of human behavior as the starting point for design." Sorry - as JMasek has said, you can only do so much to protect people from themselves.

^And as I've often said - you hear about the car break-in, but you don't hear how the "victim" left their purse, valuables in plain sight, etc. I'm not saying they're the majority but there are things that can be done to help prevention.

Is this on the northwest quadrant of the intersection? I'm trying to place this - I know Wyld Stylz (the most kick@ss vintage store on earth) used to be close to that intersection but I don't think their space was a grocery store.

No, he called it right. They're hysterics that echo a lot of our sentiments, but they're hysterics nonetheless.

Cleveland: 4600 Euclid Avenue
I'll admit that the building itself (*not* the site) is a breath of fresh air along Euclid and/or Chester. The bluish-green glass along with the "radar dish" crown sets it apart from the more somber surroundings. However, those positives are really outweighed by the fact that it's surrounded by ashpalt and flimsy fencing. It's not unlike the Pierre Ice Cream HQ - the building itself is alright, but the siting is completely inappropriate.

"if your so worried about disease don't shop their... i don't have to worry about my car getting stolen, getting mugged or picking up some weird disease... Don't forget picking up grammar skills. Folks, for the love of all that's holy - get back on topic.

Cleveland High tech employers "Begging" for employees!
I like Michelle Jarboe's reporting - she gets into details and I don't see a lot of negative editorializing so common with other Plain Dealer staffers (aka "Downtown Cleveland of America's Poorest City Becoming Technology Mecca"). Great article overall.

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
I have to say that while the food was usually terrific at La Tortilla, I can't say the same about the service. They were never rude but that sense of anguish seemed to be apparent the last time I went (about a year ago). When we walked in, the hostess said (whispered) "how many?", sat us down with menus (no water, no drinks, nada) and we were left sitting there for ten minutes twiddling our thumbs. The staff just wasn't very engaging and didn't exactly make us feel welcome - no "how is everything?", "would you like another beer?", etc. Lack of business? Maybe if they acted like my business was appreciated, I'd have gone back.

"I know I'm not comparing apples to apples, but I'm just saying..." I hear ya, but there's a LOT of restorative work that has to be done at a painstakingly slow pace (in some cases, hundreds of ornamental sections/pieces being rebuilt literally brick by brick - see below images from Coon Restoration). With the Times Tower, it's basically assembling a giant TinkerToy set - not an easy feat but much less detailwork than restoration of a historic landmark:

Cleveland: Bob Stark Warehouse District Project
What did you do? You annoyed the f#ck out of me, the other admins and the mods. How, you ask? Instead of shutting the h#ll up when a mod says "knock it off", you channeled a f#cking toddler and started with the "I didn't do it" bullsh!t. Grow the f#ck up. That goes for anyone else who pulls the "I didn't do it! Waaaah! It's their fault!" crap. If you're told to put a sock in it, don't come back with some juvenile response. Folks - this thread is locked until there's real news to report.

This discussion is all well and good but it's more appropriate for the City Discussions thread. To get back on topic, it looks like more of the scaffolding is coming down from Terminal Tower: From today at noon: And from August:
