Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
Ouch - that's gonna divert a lot of traffic onto Franklin and Columbus; and Franklin's not looking so hot lately (lots of slippage/cracks). I mean, I know there's no good time to do stuff like this but I hope the pavement on Franklin holds up.

Cleveland: Random Development and News
I'm sure it was - after all it wasn't for the entire month and it was clearly red, not pink. It's no longer lit except for the uppermost section above the scaffolding. One thing I noticed - the way that section is lit leads me to believe they're using new (and much brighter) lights. The old lighting scheme was that orange-y tone, whereas the new lights are more true to the tower's color. I'll see if I can get a photo sometime soon.

"couched under the guise of humor (your clever Republican photos on the giving to homeless thread, for example) when I try to do the same, I get slammed." Then maybe you should take notes on how to be clever ;-)

Dan, you can make your point without the insults. Or you can have a few days off. Your choice.

Are you sure about that? It sounds reasonable but if you don't mind me asking - your source? As far as how National City looks pink vs. Terminal? National City is clad in travertine which is a much lighter shade than Terminal Tower's limestone.

I don't think so - Tyler is mostly clustered around 36th and Superior - scary though.

Panhandling/Scamming stories
I have to admit when someone says "can you spare some change?", the warped side of me wants to just once - channel Lovey Howell (Thurston's wife) and say "Sorrrry dahling, I only carry $100 dollar bills and my American Express Platinum - toodle-loo now!"

Metro Cleveland: Road & Highway News
"Now, if Lorain County is smart, it will get out of NOACA and join, or start, a similar agency to meet its needs. Some Medina County officials want out of NOACA too, having watched in horror as Avon was assaulted and realized Medina County is likely to be bloodied next. Medina and Lorain county officials should see if others want to join in a move away from NOACA, and get it done." Don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya! :behind:

Yeah, every time I see it lit up, I sigh... :-) Speaking of, it looks like the big net is coming down. Not sure what that means in the grand scheme of the restoration but I've hated that thing as much as the scaffolding on the upper floors:

let me tell you, I think they just made that Belgian beer section. They used to have a few on the shelf, but now, it is amazing.. The willingness and ability of Daves to adapt to their individual markets is one reason I think they'll be fine in spite of Wal-Mart. And I know I'm not the only person who would shop at the Giant Eagle on Clifton before I'd ever set foot in a Wal-Mart.

Panhandling/Scamming stories
"Here's a lesson for you. Not a single one ever ate the food, as far as I am aware." A friend of mine used to work for the Kinkos near Cleveland State - her manager got tired of the half-dozen panhandlers congregating outside, so one day he decided to give them an opportunity. He said "alright guys, either I call the cops and have them haul you off, or you can help me move some empty boxes in our basement from one side to the other and I'll give you $50.00 each." Mind you, these were empty boxes full of packing peanuts so we aren't talking hard labor, just about 15 minutes of tedious lifting. Every single one of them bolted.

See... the lefties get too sappy and serious and don't get it; the righties are callous and evil and can't get it; for us moderates, people GET our attempts at humor ;-)

Not quite... this is how most Republicans would handle the situation ;-)

Okay fine - the most disgruntled of disgruntled zombies.- Cleveland: Steelyard Commons
"If you knew how much say a credit card merchant charges for transactions (flat fee + sometimes %), you'd know how bernie keeps costs down. When a mom & pop says "credit minimum charge, $5" its literally that they won't make money on the transaction, i.e. the credit fees eat away all or more of the profit they have built into the price." I'm fine with that (mom and pop minimum charge, etc.), it's just the few times I've been in a Marc's, there's not even the option. My biggest gripe with Marc's is that every person working there seemed like some sort of disgruntled zombie.- Cleveland: Steelyard Commons
I'm not saying Dave's is some plush foo-foo experience, but Marc's is just downright unpleasant. Does Marc's even take debit/credit cards yet?- Cleveland: Downtown Office Buildings Updates
