Cleveland: Cleveland Institute of Art Expansion
"Kind of shocking for an art school to go with something so bland." With a few exceptions, most art school buildings tend to be more functional than a design statement. As zaceman said, the desire for natural light and functional space is much more important to artists than how it reads to the general public.

Cleveland: The Park Building
The interior demolition is due to the reshuffling of the existing retail tenants. Since the building was configured for offices, one of the restaurants (Sushi 86) had their kitchen on the second floor (accessed by a narrow staircase) which is now being converted into the condo units. So, they moved them to the Ontario side where they're on one level and have more seating. All the restaurants are "mom and pop" but it would be nice to see a retail space or two in that spot as well.

Cleveland: HealthLine / Euclid Corridor
Yep - mind you, my "$10 an hour" comment is a bit exaggerated but you never get in and out in under an hour. Some elective surgery places will validate your parking but most of the outpatient departments don't. I'm car-free, and my partner offers to let me borrow the car but I detest driving for anything other than leisure. http://cms.clevelandclinic.org/body.cfm?id=532

Cleveland: HealthLine / Euclid Corridor
Oh, I know - it's just that the few times I've had to use the 6, it seemed like it took forever just to get from East 93rd to East 9th. Believe me, I have appointments at the Clinic and any time someone gripes about the Euclid Corridor Project, i.e. "who would ever use it?!?", I pipe right up and say "I'll use it for my doctor's appointments - like I want to pay $10 to park for an hour!".

^You were on around the time school lets out. The problem with the 6 are the stops every other block (that's how it feels anyway) - I almost always try to get on the 9 instead.

Cleveland - Where to live for $150,000?
Carole, I think peabody's comment about languishing refers to the Loftworks units - not Fries and Scheule.

Foreign Languages
In my hometown, foreign language wasn't offered until your freshman year of high school - the options were Spanish, German and French.

Cleveland: are there really old walking tunnels under the City?
He means the Cuyahoga Building (designed by Burnham and Root) which was demolished - it stood on the south side of Superior at Public Square where 200 Public Square is now.

Cleveland Clinic's tunnel under Euclid at East 93rd. What do I win? :-D

"I saw you today walking through the library's reading garden at lunch. I was there with my son and wife. I tried to make eye contact, but you just walked right on by." Sorry - not intentional; I was in "errand" mode and had my iPod blaring Taylor Dayne - don't ask. ;-)

A few hours ago, far far away from North Olmsted... looks like they're replacing the copper trim below the columns: You can see the original stuff in the lower right:
