"we shouldn't expect the place to ourselves. I think that any bar with a TV is liable to be busy, though." Is that okay with everyone?

The Dating Thread
I'm not talking about dating in general (hello, if it was easy it wouldn't be called romance) or being stood up (that's just tacky) - I'm saying I've had to listen to too many workaholics b!tch that there's no one to date, but it's "nnnever" about them and their maniacal schedules, it's always someone else.

"In regard to being single, some of us like it." And that's perfectly fine :-) "As much as I'd like to be in a relationship, my life doesn't allow it and I think I purposely work like I do, so I can avoid dealing with a relationship." As someone who has had to listen to others in the same situation - do me a favor (this isn't directly at you, MTS) - be happy being too busy with work but for the love of god, shut the h#ll up about "I can't meet anybody!" and "there isn't anyone to date". You're the one who decided that working 60+ hours a week was more important than having a healthy social life or time where you'd be available for a date - you've made your bed, so please stop whining and sleep in it! pope and musky - there's just sumthin' unnatcheral about that.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
"WHERE GAY FANS GATHER - Gym Sportsbar 167 Eighth Ave., nr. 18th St.; 212-337-2439" That place is such a joke - goatp!ss (aka Bud and Bud Light on tap - that's it) and two flatscreens, one of which was tuned into NASCAR when I was there. Give me Cleats any day!

Please do follow-up - we've had a few people sign up and ask questions but we don't always hear back. We won't know if our advice is helpful without feedback. Good luck in your search! :-)

Cleveland: Filling in Euclid Avenue
It's not vacated, it's only used for special events (weddings, some high holy days, etc.). Thus, it's not "full time". :-)

Okay, I stopped in at Wonder Bar and the cute gal behind the bar said that they're open Sundays. She also said they have the following on tap: Stella Dortmunder Christmas Ale Guiness Blue Moon and a few others... So - how does Wonder Bar sound for Sunday, Oct. 28th? Any time preferences?

Ohio Bars
"No duh. Except who's more pathetic, the guys who just stand there or the guys who dance" The most pathetic guys are the ones who never learn that occasionally indulging the silly whims of their gals is going to win them serious bonus points. Taking things so seriously is one thing, but inflicting it upon others to do the same? Lighten up for crying out loud - as though having a silly moment dancing to retro-cheese is going to destroy your cred. Folks, if that's your attitude - fine, but don't dare question why you can't get a date.

Downtown Cleveland Move
Just an fyi, Richfield is about 15 miles south of downtown Cleveland via I-77. As others have said, you'll be reverse commuting which will help but there could be some heavy traffic near the I-480/I-77 junction - that's the Independence/Rockside Road area which has a lot of office parks (and thus exit ramps get backed up during rush hour). If you're coming from an area like NYC, Chicago, DC, etc., you'll chuckle at what constitutes rush hour in Cleveland. Another note - the area near Broadview Heights/Brecksville which is north of Richfield tends to be heavily patrolled so don't get crazy with the gas pedal. My guess is that your commute would be about 20 to 25 minutes each way. The only exception is of course, inclement weather - in that case, I'd recommend taking extra time and using Rt. 21 (a prime north-south route) since it tends to be better plowed than the highways. Honestly though - the days where driving isn't an option due to snow aren't as frequent as you'd think. As far as taking the Rapid to/from the airport - your most convenient location would be downtown, followed by Ohio City. It's do-able from Tremont (I live in Tremont and have done it) but if you're returning in the off-hours, transit service is less frequent. On our last trip, my partner and I took the Rapid from the airport to downtown, grabbed a taxi from a hotel at Tower City (main Rapid station downtown) and the ride from there to Tremont was $10.

Downtown Cleveland Move
My only commentary is about #3 and I'd suggest it for anyone moving anywhere - rent first. That's something I'd suggest no matter what - but especially given the current economy (local or otherwise). It'll give you a chance to get the lay of the land without the worries of ownership. And welcome! :-)

The Dating Thread
Now I'm just throwing this out there - quite a few of the people who are complaining have never shown up for an urbanohio.com meet/event. :drunk: No, you may not find a potential date, but you'll meet some d@mned nice people who 1. you have something in common with (the forum AND in most cases, beer), 2. could possibly know someone who might be dating potential. You never know.

Cleveland: Retail News
IIRC, the riot basically stemmed from the free movies (filled to capacity and they had to turn away mobs of angry teens). I also remember walking into the Terminal Tower portico and some stupid vaudeville band was blaring so f#cking loud that the cops couldn't hear on their phones/walkie-talkies. I had a feeling that it would best to get out of dodge by early afternoon. What the h#ll were they thinking?

Cleveland: Flats Developments (Non-Stonebridge or FEB)
I'm not saying everything is all sunshine everywhere but "near halt"? Don't get me wrong - the market has definitely slowed, but it really depends on who you talk to... Just an example - Chicago has seven residential towers over 700 feet tall (taller than the Terminal Tower) under construction (as in, cranes are in the air, floors are going up). I highly recommend the following section at the skyscraperpage.com forum - a rundown of most North American (and a few European) cities construction. http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/forumdisplay.php?f=87 Is there a crash in the future? Who knows, but as nice as the development in Cleveland is (especially during a real estate turndown), it's a blip on the radar compared to its peers.

^That would be the "Free Days" weekend... aside from the riot (and gunshots) at Tower City, it was a decent time (free admission to the Rock Hall, Terminal Tower observation deck, etc.). I've always said they need to have a police state in there based on logistics alone.

"I don't understand how our town has so many parking lots yet it's hard to find parking" Hard to find parking? In downtown Cleveland? HAH! Or do you mean free-and-two-feet-from-my-destination parking?
