Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
"I'm sure there are people on this board that had were bullied or felt like outcasts. This only made me think of the horrible way I treated kids who were underclass, viewed as "different" or unpopular. I thank my lucky stars none of them went postal." As someone who had to endure that treatment on a daily basis (below and beyond the typical teen harassment), you're absolutely lucky. I would suggest that if you have children or younger relatives that you nip any signs of bullying in the bud, and teach them to intervene when possible. It meant the world to me when I was getting bullied and one of the more sensible people in the group would tell the perps to knock it off. It would kill me when teachers would be in earshot and do absolutely nothing - I was blessed with supportive parents and enough sense to know that they wouldn't be worth the jail time. Obviously my situation wasn't the same for everyone.

Cleveland: Marketing the City
Sorry, I may be pro-Cleveland all the way but I've never lived in downtown proper. Plus, given my income bracket, "luxury living" isn't on the agenda* *If that's not a problem, then I'd be happy to help.

Cleveland taxi cab stuff
"Shouldn't the taxi cab companies have done something to make the service they provide better instead of taking this route of suing after Cleveland has made its decision?" You heretic! How dare you suggest such common sense! ;-) No, this is the typical lazy-@ss response - don't do anything for your job security (or even do your job) until your job is actually in jeopardy. Screw 'em, I say.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
A realllllly bad/quick mockup I made back in the day, showing the view from the Garfield Monument. It would probably sit a little more to the right than I rendered it but you get the idea:

Cleveland: Steelyard Commons
The "heritage center" looks exactly like the building in the center of the graphic. The others were creatively positioned - the one in the background on the right looks like the Wal-Mart.

Cleveland Guardians Discussion
Ain't that the truth - my partner chuckled as we were driving home last night. Some idiot was playing "pace car" on the Innerbelt so I went into my usual profanity-laced tirade and then as soon as I looked over and saw Terminal Tower, I did a 180 and said "ooooooo... preeeety!". :-)

Hispanic populations in Ohio's Cities
The topic isn't taboo, but obviously there are certain parts of the issue that are a little touchy.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
Welcome to the forum, you're welcome, and congrats on the new digs! :-) "It seems there are plenty of leases options available in 5 years for both projects to start." I guess that's the big question - is there enough demand among enough different companies that both Stark's proposal and a Jacobs tower could be feasible? There are so many variables right now - the biggest being the economy and lending environment, and it's not in prime shape right now.

A rendering of the Dollar Bank expansion at the Galleria - not exactly envelope-pushing but this will go a long way in lightening up that corner and opening up the views from inside the Galleria as well: The windows on the corner are currently display windows - I guess that's where the exterior entrance will be:

"I loved buildings from this era. That is some massive lettering!" Loved being the appropriate term:

It's either a smudge, or the empty field that might have been there - but that's where I-490 goes through. I've labeled some of the landmarks:

The two tall white buildings (and the shorter one in between) are now the House of Blues (as Florida Guy said, HOB is in the former Woolworth Building).

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
Case #8,206 of how completely ignorant *certain* local journalists can be  Feel free to comment at the following link: http://blogs.clevescene.com/cnotes/2007/10/clevelands_best_public_transpo.php Cleveland's Best Public Transportation System Ever Is Flawed After All Tue Oct 09, 2007 at 10:12:31 AM A funny thing happened on my lunch break yesterday. I was walking along the riverfront, near the Settler’s Landing RTA station, when I came across a strange creature. A tourist—backpack, sneakers, glasses and all—stopped and asked me for directions. He didn’t really know where he was going. He just wanted to get on a train and go somewhere. ........

"sweet, "ma, look i'm a graphicS designer now!" (I know you're being facetious, but please - don't spread the "graphicS" thing around.) No, it looks like they just didn't use clipping paths and plunked the images into Flash. That's just really, really, really bad.

I suppose they're somewhat related, but if we could keep the CVB posts in the existing thread that'd be great. Thanks! :-) http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php?topic=11531.30
