Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
Yeah, there aren't any patrol cars downtown, especially around Ontario and St. Clair  "That's why I'm never afraid to speed heavily when the opportune arises." Yeah, getting ticketed is the only thing to worry about - never mind peoples' safety (including yours).

Don't give me any "back on topic" crap folks, I'm taking a photo at lunch today :-P

Abandoned: Solon: Central Park Lifestyle Center
Interesting to see Crocker Park/Westlake being threatened by development in Avon, so I wonder if the Beachwood/Legacy people are concerned about this proposal.

Geauga Lake
"Solon, Streetsboro, Aurora - that have excelled at combining strong residential neighborhoods" Cul-de-sacs are neighborhoods now? Yeah, Streetsboro would be a lovely model to follow

Youngstown, Ohio: Seat of Mahoning County
First it was Boardman Plaza along Rt. 224, a strip plaza which still exists today which was one of Eddie DeBartolo's first projects http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_J._DeBartolo%2C_Sr.. After that, it was Southern Park Mall and to some extent Eastwood Mall, though it targeted the Warren/Niles area and mostly northern Y-town neighborhoods. Wikipedia's entry for Boardman basically sums it up: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boardman%2C_Ohio

Youngstown, Ohio: Seat of Mahoning County
I posted this in a previous Youngstown thread - this is the Oak Hill neighborhood just to the southwest of downtown Youngstown. The tags are mostly abandoned buildings which have been photographed (and posted on urbanohio.com's main photo gallery). But zoom out and look at how many vacant lots exist - and remember these streets used to be packed with single-family and two-family homes: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=111501388969053870983.0000011257530374ea6d6&ll=41.09077,-80.662222&spn=0.01145,0.018668&t=k&z=16&om=1

CLEVELAND - Forum Meet on the Goodtime III - Friday, Sept. 28th!
According to the gal who I spoke to (very helpful and friendly by the way), the crowds are pretty light this time of year. Bad for them, but good for us :-)

Cleveland: Marketing the City
"Also, the city of cleveland website has a scroll that says "No News is Good News." Is this a joke? was this site hacked? or are they serious?" It would be incredibly helpful to say exactly where this is rather than just posting the city's homepage URL.

Columbus: New York Times articles
"Although this may incur the rath of the Cleveland and Cincinnati area posters" Hardly, and I don't even know why you'd suggest it would. However, that first article is a little behind the times - as if the Short North being a destination is a recent thing, and as if the Limited and A&F have created any of the development downtown? It'd be nice if it was accurate.

CLEVELAND - Forum Meet on the Goodtime III - Friday, Sept. 28th!
Just confirmed - they don't have Great Lakes :-( but for $10 and happy hour pricing, I won't complain too much. Also, the boat opens for boarding at 5:30pm, and leaves the dock at 6:00pm sharp (don't be late!) - that gives everyone a little extra time to get dolled up for the evening ;-) The forecasts are calling for highs in the 60s, so bring a light jacket or sweater - it gets chilly on the Lake!

Is Cincinnati a good place to move to?
"All I want is to meet people and hang out with friends when I move. THATS ALL I CARE ABOUT!! I can do it here, but I'm tired of this area. I'm ready to move to a appealing city and I just want to meet people. I'm scared I'll move and never meet anyone and be lonely my whole life" As someone a bit older than you, I feel obligated to tell you that you can move wherever you want, but moving alone won't change you into an outgoing happy-go-lucky person. It's not as if moving to a new city suddenly makes people flock to you just because you're the new guy in town. If you're not active in your efforts to expand your circle of friends now, why do you think you'll suddenly blossom into a social butterfly just because you change your zip code?
