Urban Ohio LOGO Design Contest!
I'm not talking about software, I'm talking about a design that can be easily printed on any background (in one color if need be) and that would work well on a business card or a billboard. Just looking at some of the above, I can tell you we have some disqualifications. Believe me, I know there are some talented folks out there with some good ideas, and if said people want to ask other people for help putting their idea together in a workable format, that's called collaboration :-)

Urban Ohio LOGO Design Contest!
Sorry I have to chaperone this thread again but folks - keep it on topic. And please - don't just read the title of this thread, read what's required. If you don't have Illustrator or software that can create vector art, perhaps you can collaborate with someone who does.

CLEVELAND - Pinnacle update!
"From what I understand there are still penthouses available, maybe people have backed out?" Going by their website (I know, they aren't set in stone), I'm seeing 6 penthouse units available, with the lowest at $761K. I would guess that once you hit that kind of price point, the frequency of buyers in that range is lower. http://www.pinnacle701.com/pricing.htm

Today, I Overheard Someone in my City Say...
I relish some of the conversations I've had when it comes to commuters/exurbanites especially: Them: "Ugh, it took me an hour and a half to get to Avon - some stupid accident!" Me: "Ouch - so by the time you got home, I had gone to the gym, put a load of laundry away, and had my first happy hour beer." :-D

My feet are tired.
gotribe, I think you're right - but it's still river rat country! :-D

My feet are tired.
#5 is Stratton - that's the First Energy power plant. Great photos, but did you get enough "river rat" shots (Mingo Junction, Steubenville AND East Liverpool)?

Cleveland - next UrbanOhio forum meet will be....
Thursday, August 23rd 6:30 - Meet at Great Lakes in the main bar. Since they're expecting temps in the 90s Thursday, we'll be inside (otherwise I wilt). If it's insanely crowded, we can head to the cellar. I repeat - if it's insanely crowded, we will head to the cellar (since some people missed us the last time). 7:00-ISH - Head over to Bier Markt. Does that work for everyone? Obviously if you'll be dropping by later, chances are we'll be at Bier Markt. Also if anyone wants to grab dinner along with drinks, feel free to do so.

Today, I Overheard Someone in my City Say...
Although this should technically go into the "I Love Cleveland" thread (if it's still around), I think you have a good idea. How about people post things in this thread (good or bad) that you overhear? This can be for any city in Ohio. Good idea, Map Boy! :-)

Cleveland: Downtown: East 4th Street Developments
Alright, first the fussing about what to wear Thursday night at Great Lakes, and now you're saying things like "glamour poses"? That's MY territory, so step off!!!

Cleveland: Population Trends
"I am so SICK of this garbage from the PD!! If you keep telling someone they are ugly and worthless, for years and years, the individual will start to BELIEVE it. The PD is one of the biggest proponents of our "can't do" attitude that we have in the region. If anyone can find one larger than the PD, let me know." Imagine sitting at a party, across from a real estate agent - someone whose very livelihood depends on the health of the city and its ability to attract homebuyers - and listening to them passionately whine that "no one's buying those condos at that... what's it called? Pinnacle?" and "Stark can build whatever, but it's not going to help. Look at what happened to Tower City!". Before you ask, this is someone who lives in the city and does a lot of their transactions in the city, and yes I was happy to correct them on every incorrect statement - they still had the same attitude, though. Just like the PD is scaring away potential subscribers by putting the most negative news front and center, you have these unfathomably ignorant people making comments like that and then they wonder why their respective businesses are floundering. I'm not saying things need to be glossed over, but as an example - did a parking conflict at a new condo building really deserve above the fold front page placement? To those of you from the PD who read this (you know who you are) - if you're wondering why your subscriptions are going down - walk over to the nearest mirror or reflective surface.

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
"fully buttoned polo shirts tucked into pleated cotton dockers? Anybody seen these cats?" That alone is reason to tell them to shove their clipboards up their @ss. Dear god people, if you're going to have a cause - dress in a way that makes other people want to support it!

Cleveland Public Schools: News and Discussion
I would have opposed any kind of dress code when I was in school; especially considering I had one side of my head shaved, and my bangs were down to my chin, and wore black, black and more black like a good artsy alterna-punk. However, where I went to school had a 90ish% college placement rate and the worst gang activity was a fight between the hoods and the jocks. If a dress code helps get the schools back into shape, I can't really be opposed to it. :|

Cleveland: Downtown Office Buildings Updates
"better not suggest a 500 footer.....i got bashed for sayin i hoped for one in the pesht thread. i also remember gettin bashed a long time ago for sayin i predict there will be a new skyscraper under contruction by 2010" By "bashed", he means people simply pointed out pertinent facts and he took that as an insult.

You? Don't get out often?!? Wha? :wtf:

Cleveland - next UrbanOhio forum meet will be....
Okay, let me put it this way - the straight guys are more worried than *I* am about what to wear to go to a casual bar and grab some brews. I don't appreciate people trying to muscle in on my turf so all of ya just show up after work, and leave the fussing and primping to me, d@mmit!!!

Cleveland: University Hospitals Expansion (University Circle)
I'm not in love with it, but it's definitely an improvement.

Cleveland: Bob Stark Warehouse District Project
Now that is just awesome! :banger: I think what we're seeing in the second photo/bottom right is a separate massing at West 3rd/Superior. It looks like it may be part of the E&Y building, but a taller part than the section at West 6th/Superior.
