  1. Lovely, in that sterile Stepford-wife sort of way :-)
  2. My understanding was the financing for the streetscaping was already in place... that's why I question the timeline.
  3. That really is a ridiculously long timeline for streetscaping - they built Key Tower in what, two years?
  4. Okay folks... this thread's gonna be locked for a few minutes and when it comes back it'll be cleaned up. Sorry if one of your posts gets deleted but 'dems da breaks. Now that it's back open, keep it on topic - and coherent. :whip:
  5. Edsiou, this isn't the elementary school playground - I don't care who started it, I'm asking *you* to shape up.
  6. Well said, TMH - but that's why the Commissioners and the CVB (and everyone else) have their work cut out for them. I'm being sincere when I say this - they need someone (like you) who can be articulate and passionate. Hagan and Dimora look and sound burned out whenever I've seen them discuss this project. We live in a world where people don't take kindly to having taxes (no matter how petty) forced upon them. Now, if they were presented with renderings, and realistic goals/expectations of the Medical Mart (and how it could benefit them for relatively little personal risk), I think they'd easily be convinced. Instead, you have Hagan and Dimora who people are justifiably leery of and then you have Kennedy (and I thought MY voice was nasal) - all I've heard from them is "if we don't do this, someone else will". A valid argument, but the threat of this project going somewhere else shouldn't be their primary focus. They should be telling Cuyahoga County what the Medical Mart could do for them. ;-)
  7. "Everyone hates it, but it would probably be a bad business decision to buy it, tear it down and build something nice." Bah, you Steelyard-shopping suburbanite! Who cares about whether something is good for business?!? This is Cleveland! ;-)
  8. I truly don't understand how f#cking incompetent the train driver could be - either wait until they're out of the way, or shoo them away.

That's one of those techy questions that rich might be able to answer :-)

"I am not an admin but I would think the avatars should be SFW or more importantly SF the little children." One of the reasons I'm adamant about it is that we do get students researching here, and I don't want any flak. Also along those lines, I'd prefer profanity be kept to a minimum or that people use #@% so the forum isn't blocked.
  11. Edsiou, you can leave the personal attacks out of your posts (and spend more time making them coherent)- the next one I see gets you a month off.

"And for avatars, they have to be SFW? I have a cartoony one that features nudity. Yes.

Publishing - specifically graphic design; side jobs include architectural photography (I donate my revenue to Cleveland Public Art) and published author:
  14. I think you've confused -tina with someone else MTS; try some de-caf and THEN re-read the thread :-)
  15. Welcome to the forum, and welcome to Cleveland! :-)
  16. I think it's a safe bet the following groups would vote in favor: 1. Unions, particularly construction/trades 2. Healthcare workers* 3. Hospitality workers* 4. Forest City employees* *It would behoove the leaders of each group to organize their members into a potent voting block.
  17. Now that's just FABulous!!!
  18. You will love Ty Fun... looove it. And amen on the request for a good Indian restaurant.
  19. I think they'd eat anything for three meals a day! I know musky - many moons ago, I was out with a friend who has a six year old and she asked if there was a place to grab lunch. I of course suggested a local coffee shop - I mean, the kid wouldn't scoff at a chicken-salad croissant, right? Little did I know... I think that would be one of the most difficult things for me - I'd be known as the "mean one who doesn't let us go to McDonalds!".
  20. The water looks cleaner than the Cuyahoga! ;-) Great pics!
  21. "unlike most on here i would not try to gentrify with 300k condos.....these would be affordable housing/apartment units." What forum do you frequent? I ask because I don't recall "most on here" stating that $300K condos were the end-all be-all. I know you like to project your issues on others but at least speak the truth when you do it.
  22. Hmm, I'll give you a heads up - Middlefield is about 35 miles east of downtown Cleveland and that's as the crow flies. It would be quite a schlep to commute from downtown or University Circle, but I think you could do the University Circle/Middlefield trip in around 45 minutes. I might even suggest some areas of Cleveland Heights which offer a pretty satisfactory "urban neighborhood" feel but put you a little closer to work. You'd also be close to a Whole Foods (in South Euclid), Cheesecake Factory (in Lyndhurst), Trader Joes (in Woodmere), etc.

^And I can vouch for it being decent. Monte, if you can get that deal, I'd pounce on it if I were you. It's in a restored building, and the furnishings were surprisingly decent for what you would think of a Holiday Inn Express:
  24. Ummm, keeping previous discussions and planning behind closed doors is why there is so much f#cking skepticism about this project. I find his honesty and openness a lot more valuable than Hagan's avoiding scrutiny and shooting down anyone who dares question him.

^True, though it isn't in the best spot for bar-hopping, etc.
