Cleveland: Marketing the City
Thank you MTS, I appreciate it. I don't want to jinx anything but some outlets might be interested in working with me but we'll see. As far as mentioning UO in the article, I'm guessing that since the forum deals with the whole state they may have wanted to limit links to Cleveland-specific sites. Just a guess, though.

"Is press coffee, not the greatest invention?! Its nice, strong and thick!" I could make a comment here, but I'll refrain ;-)

Cleveland: Cuyahoga County Gov't properties disposition (non-Ameritrust)
Okay folks - this thread is locked for a week. Any new threads discussing the Cuyahoga County Admin Center/Breuer Tower will be deleted and the forumer responsible for creating the thread will be suspended for a month - I'm not kidding. You can thank yourselves and the incessant bickering and insulting - I don't care who started it, but by god I am finishing it. I don't know what the problem is but lately I've had to be more of a babysitter than an Admin around here. Get a grip and some maturity, folks - learn how to disagree with people or voice an opinion without insulting them. I'm usually proud of this forum and how the members conduct themselves but over the past week or so, that hasn't been the case. Sorry to put the B in HBIC but I've been left with no other choice.

CLEVELAND - Fun and Sun!
We were blessed with 70-degree temps and non-stop sunshine, so I took advantage of it and took some pics: Convertible + nice weather = cool skyline shot My motorcade - I let Governor Strickland borrow it for an event ;-) What I see when I get sushi for lunch: I kinda like the "trees" at Medical Mutual Plaza: Full patio and pedestrians - told you it was nice out! I miss the days of working here: Two outta big three ain't bad: Intricate! Nobody works in downtown Cleveland any more  It'll be great when it's finished but ugh... Yep, downtown's a ghost town during the day  Right on time! Jaywalkers! Scofflaws! Earth, wind, war memorial? The future Staybridge Suites and a chisel: Galleria and pedestrians - yes, even there: Went to get a haircut, had to make the requisite stop on Cliff Drive: Back downtown, cool brick warehouses (and not-so-cool utility poles): North Point Tower: Fast forward to the weekend, we head over for lunch to Cyrus - a new spot along the west bank of the Flats. On the way, a peek down the Viaduct: I'm thinking the former Arhaus building (the yellow one) would make nice lofts: My boyfriend was extremely patient and tolerant of my geekness: Goodtime III couldn't have had better weather: After lunch, we take a walk on the boardwalk by Shooters: Just a few bridges around the Flats: Stonebridge Plaza leads the parade: Next up, we wanted to check out Wendy Park - highly recommended. Anyhoo, the entrance is shared with Edgewater Park, where kites abounded: Once inside Wendy Park, it was quite a layout - volleyball courts, lakefront, skyline views. Too bad we haven't had more rain, the grass could use it: No the Federal Building really isn't right over the hill: But these views are: Wendy Park - seriously, check it out: The Coast Guard station - rehab the thing already!!! What kind of geek goes to a park to take photos? Oh that's right, I do! Windsurfing - great day for it: See ya next time, Wendy Park! One last peek at Stonebridge and downtown: Hope you enjoyed!

Cleveland - Saturday, June 30, 2007
"Oh, and what is up with the "Venus de Milo" on the US Federal Courthouse. One question - Why? Odd I thought . . . never noticed that the last time I was in Cleveland." That was part of the General Service Administration's public art program for all new federal buildings. They chose Jim Dine (a Cincinnati native) whose most famous work is paintings of bathrobes (if you saw 'First Wives Club', Elise Elliot owned one). He has also done a series of homages to the Venus de Milo, in various states - in the case of the Cleveland work, it's headless and armless, just like his work in Cincinnati http://www.sculpturecenter.org/oosi/sculpture.asp?SID=965. Apparently he chose this approach instead of the typical "justice" statue. Great photos, and glad you got to enjoy the city! :-)

Cleveland: Cuyahoga County Gov't properties disposition (non-Ameritrust)
w28th - I don't mind you disagreeing with people, but I draw the line at comments like "you're too stupid to recognize architectural integrity". You have one day off to cool your jets. For that matter, I don't mind people being passionate about this issue (one way or the other) but the comments like "f*ck Frank Jackson" or whoever else aren't necessary and they're grounds for a one-week suspension. Those of you who feel it's necessary to sling profanity and personal insults can go over to the forums at cleveland.com, because your antics aren't going to fly here.

At least she doesn't try to guilt her child into subscribing to her beliefs, or make threats. Obviously her beliefs have made her a happy joyful person.

Ohio Economic Trends (CLE, CIN, COL, PIT)
It is promising, but the quantity of jobs lost in the old economy industries is so massive that it'll be a while before there's a real offset from the healthcare sector, imho.

Cleveland: Downtown: East 4th Street Developments
""And wouldn't that just encourage a lot of dine-and-dashing?" If someone is going to pull that sh!t, they're going to do it no matter what. It's one thing to accomodate safety vehicles and provide a nominal amount of security against things like "dine and dash" but at some point you're designing to the lowest common denominator when it should be the other way around. That mentality is the same reason that the ugly fences are up along the Detroit-Superior Bridge promenade - "oh no, people will jump!", "oh no, people will throw things!" - if that's how we're going to plan and build our city, we shouldn't even bother.

^I agree and I could be wrong, but that may be a State liquor issue (alcohol not permitted beyond certain point crap).
-
Cleveland and Grafitti
In some cases, yes - but the majority of graffiti in Cleveland isn't gang turf-marking, it's idiots (often teens who don't even live in the city) "tagging". While I think they should be prosecuted to the fullest, I don't see the CPD dropping their drug busts to take out taggers - as a city resident, I'd rather my safety forces have their priorities in order.

Cleveland: Downtown: East 4th Street Developments
BlackFinn is slated to be at the corner of East 4th and Euclid; Wonderbar is mid-block on East 4th.

^I believe that there is legislation along those lines in the works for Cleveland.

Strip District proposed in flats???
When you're in peabody's situation - it's essential to convey property ownership. There's nothing wrong with renting, rentals, etc. - but the perception is that they haven't made the level of investment in their neighborhood as homeowners have.
