  1. Looks like the remaining pieces of the facade are finally being installed.
  2. Folks, if a post clearly isn't development related, please make the effort to put it where it belongs.
  3. Guess this video could go anywhere but since it has a quick glimpse of the Neurological Institute construction, figured I'd put it here. IMG_9199.mov
  4. Not exactly an update on developments for Sherwin Williams HQ but hey it looks good flying into CLE. IMG_9200.mov
  5. Two quick photos from I-71.
  6. Wine & Design in Tremont (next to St. Theodosius) is closing the brick and mortar store after 15 years.
  7. There was a block club meeting along with Tremont West on January 15th. https://www.facebook.com/p/HBR-MCC-100064881240075/
  8. A few things regarding the 2915 West 14th development: Years ago, the section of Tremont south of 490 was proposed to be included in the Historic District, but residents voted it down. The general sentiment from many long-termers was "don't tell me what to do with my house". And look at how that's starting to play out. Not that it would necessarily prevent these homes being torn down and replaced with the proposed dreck, but who knows at this point. As a nearby resident, the homes proposed for demolition may "look fine" from the outside and might very well be in great shape, but I'm willing to bet that's not 100% the case. More than a few of the similarly-sized homes along West 14th (most built between 1890-1910) were converted to multi-family, reworked or redone to the point the historic character was irreparably damaged or removed. For all I know these might be historically pristine inside but again, guessing that's not the case. Also, while not an apples to apples comparison to the historic homes like mine - as @Jukeboxer alluded to, I'm selfishly curious about the pricing. Speaking of dreck - I get the notion of breaking up the bulk of the facade with different materials but these just look so haphazardly thrown together. It's the same firm that designed these and while that approach isn't exactly my taste, it's less helter-skelter.
  9. A few more from the archives - happy to provide more detail on these, just ask.
  10. Yep - for perspective, it's a little over 70 feet shorter than 200 Public Square but the square footage is about 200K larger - built around the same time and same architects as well.
  11. Same as it ever was - it’s a matter of flight to quality, amenities and the “shiny new things”.
  12. I'm on a roll 🙃 I know it encompasses more than Sherwin Williams but it's the most obvious change since 2009:
  13. The parade folks need to stop the alarmist BS and clutching their shamrock beaded necklaces. The same argument was made back when the route was on Euclid. As far as room for spectators, apparently they didn't attend the Cavs championship parade - spectators have no problem making their own space. The St. Patrick's Day parade in 2015 on Superior - would you look at that, they simply shifted and the spectators responded accordingly.
  14. Another result of going through my memory cards for archiving - from March 2012 to last week.
  15. Found a comparable view from 2009, created this to show the difference 15 years can make.
  16. As you may have seen in other threads, I've been going through old memory cards - here's a few pics from March of 2008. Please try to tie comments into the original thread topic, thanks.
  17. Dug this up from November 2011, view from the Terminal Tower observation deck:
  18. In the never-ending process of going through my memory cards for archiving, came across this from November 2011 - now the site of the Cleveland Clinic/Cavs facility. The only concert I ever attended at Tower City Amphitheater was Nelly Furtado - thankfully she was awesome because that was a truly awful venue in so many ways.
  19. From the article: “Everything I’ve seen is special interest politics. We’re talking to the LGBTQ+’community, who I think need to be heard. We are talking to environmentalists, who I think need to be heard. Where the city is now, I think we need to start listening to the parents and the citizens of Cleveland.” Sooo, no members of the LGBTQ+ community are parents or citizens of Cleveland? But at least she's so benevolent she thinks they need to be heard 😒
  20. Sooo it's not exactly the centerpiece of the video but hey, it's captured during a GULLNADO! 😁 IMG_9022.mov
  21. While we (Admins and Mods) try to provide some wiggle room in the threads, please try to provide some context. Yes, we all want to see the downtown Heinens be successful, and yes the recent announcement of the second floor closure is concerning, however: As mentioned above, the residential population of Buffalo is much smaller than downtown Cleveland's. From what I could gather, Buffalo is around 3,000 tops - Cleveland is almost seven times that. Braymillers Market in Buffalo has been around for about 70 years with (now) one location, located about 15 miles from the city center. Heinens has an almost 100 year history with almost 20 locations in northeast Ohio (plus a few in Illinois). Braymillers Market opened at quite possibly the worst time and barely had a chance to get any traction. Plus it sounds like there were other issues at play that aren't apples to apples. Heinens opened their downtown location in 2015 - after almost ten years, it's hardly surprising they're reconfiguring their model. Yes, something to be watched and I'll personally miss the quieter spots upstairs for sitting down for lunch. Everyone is free to discuss ways to get more foot traffic - if that involves Santa providing multi-million dollar investments into infrastructure and transportation, we have threads for that - not this one, though.
