For sh!ts and giggles, I made a Google map of the Oak Hill area and 'tagged' buildings that were vacant/collapsing as well as some of the photos posted above. That's Trinity Cathedral at Euclid and East 22nd which is sometimes open to the public. There's another square stout church at 30ish and Euclid which I believe is the Methodist Church - never been in that.

Here is a slightly altered version of a view from steelyardcommons.com: Also, one thing I noticed about the roundabout pattern musky posted and SYC's roundabout - if SYC's was one lane, I think it would be safer. Instead, it's two lanes coming in (and leaving) and two lanes around the entire circle.

This is a view from the hill leading down from the "vortex of death" (aka the roundabout). On the left is one of the former bridges from the steel mill, now used as an accent to the entrance drive. In the background is the main "strip" of stores, in the foreground is the site of Phase 2:

"Merrell and Metzner buildings are all very nice and immediately adjacent to some great bars and restaurants." Not just any great bars, but the source of the nectar of the gods!

Comparing it to other images on the site, I'd say that's a model for phases 10-12. Fortunately, it looks as though those have made accomodations for first-floor retail/offices.

*Ahem* inclement weather :-) I agree - take the Red Line to Tower City, and then exit to Public Square and walk to Ontario Avenue and then to the field.

^Yes, I've had to correct people who thought my screenname was in support of some revolution. :lol: I know he'd be embarassed but I have to say my partner is just awesome. Since we went out Saturday night, and my birthday was on a Tuesday I figured we'd just have a quiet dinner at Prosperity in Tremont. We get there, and lo and behold about 14 people - including my family - are there to help me celebrate.

Well since I'm celebrating a sorta milestone year at 35, I figured I'd do a sorta-retrospective of 55 images I've taken over the past few years. Enjoy! A friend who parks there (works at Tower at Erieview) said that they are closing the parking lot shortly (as in this week).

The official word about Progressive from Peter B. Lewis' spokesperson was that "It was a business decision made by the Board of Directors when Al Lerner was chairman." Now, I'm sure that there are plenty of bullet points that led to that decision but all I'm saying is that's the "official" statement. pope, Stern has worked on the following: Youngstown's Federal Courthouse: Philadelphia's Comcast Center (image from phillyskyline.com): And NYC's 15 Central Park West: Stern's work isn't the most envelope pushing, but they're generally high-quality (unlike some PoMo types).

To be fair - it's not just KPF, the same can be said for almost every Cleveland-based firm that I've approached (one firm was taken aback that I was even asking for information). However, Gehry Partners (along with Peter B. Lewis and his spokesperson), Cesar Pelli and RTKL have all been incredibly helpful and responsive.
