How environmentally conscious are you?
Cleveland only has drop-off sites for recycling, but at least you don't have to sort every single thing. My partner and I usually recycle cardboard and bottles (Great Lakes Brewing would be proud). We also re-use shopping bags. I've been car-free for over five years, and my partner's car gets great gas mileage.

Yet another one moving to Cleveland! I need advice.
Bratenahl is about a 5-minute drive east of downtown Cleveland, on the lakefront: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bratenahl%2C_OH

Cleveland: Random Development and News
That's the second phase of an overhaul of the Celebreeze building. From Dick Corporation, who was awarded the contract: "Phase II will be a reconstruction of an “urban forest” in the exterior plaza that includes demolition, structural repair, waterproofing, fills, pavers, and extensive landscaping."

CLEVELAND - At the Clinic and it AIN'T pretty!
"Wow settle down.....the clinic aint beautiful, but remember what city it is in....cleveland....and you are right the neighborhoods around the clinic are horrible but the clinic is about all we have left in cuyahoga county. Hopefully you will get some pics of the new Heart center once it opens......it is not the clinics fault the rest of cuyahoga county is a crap hole..." No the Clinic isn't beautiful - and it's mostly their own doing, building suburban-style bunker buildings where a thriving neighborhood used to be. The new Heart and Vascular Institute isn't quite as terrible but it's hardly a piece of remarkable architecture. When the architects and planners employed by the Clinic realize that they don't operate in a bubble, and design their facilites accordingly - then I'll change my tune. And as others have said - if you don't like it, and Cuyahoga County is such a craphole, why are you here?

Yet another one moving to Cleveland! I need advice.
goviemom, welcome to the forum. You will be pleased to know that yes indeed, there are open-minded individuals in the Greater Cleveland area, just as there are narrow-minded twits everywhere, even in southern California. Keep in mind, Cleveland is home to Dennis Kucinich and if he isn't liberal I don't know who is. I'm not terribly familar with Painesville since it's about 30 miles northeast of Cleveland proper. I'm under the impression that it's basically a small town that's been enveloped by sprawl and there are some issues with crime/poverty but that's just what I gather from local media. I personally wouldn't live there because 1. it's 30 miles outside of a major city, 2. I'd probably have to buy a car, and I enjoy being car-free. If you have the option of living closer to Cleveland proper, I'd go with that simply because you'd be closer to more amenities. While Cleveland doesn't have a brewpub on every block like some cities, it has one of the best in the nation (as gavster mentioned). Great Lakes Brewing Company http://www.greatlakesbrewing.com makes some outstanding beers, my personal favorite being the Burning River Pale Ale. They're also very involved in environmental/green issues, producing the Burning River Festival which is an eco-friendly event held annually. Let us know if you'd like more information, and again - welcome :-)

Finding Specialty Items in Cleveland
You might want to call Cork and Beans (wine and coffee shop) in the Huntington Building. If they don't have it, they might be able to point you in the right direction. 216/241-4166, ask for Toni :) I can imagine Target at Steelyard would carry them as well, but that's a touchy subject in these parts.

I'm Afraid to Spray Windex
I'm surprised I have to explain this to anyone over the age of 12, but here's how it works (and this goes out to the idiots who "crop dust" gym equipment while I'm using the next machine over): 1. Grab a rag/towel/paper towel. 2. Grab the spray bottle of cleaner. 3. Spray the cleaner INTO THE F#CKING TOWEL. 4. Clean. That way, whatever it is you're trying to clean gets clean without it getting all over people around you. David, I imagine the lady was being a bit melodramatic, but seriously - if you work in a restaurant and need to clean tables while people are eating, use the method I described above.

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
I'll say this much - Prosperity is what you would have if you took a blue-collar spot and added: 1. A cool art-deco bar with nifty lucite lights 2. Good microbrews on tap 3. A lot of old-school signage (the old Zombie Club at West 3rd and St. Clair, spinning Strohs globes, an old menu board advertising "Sardines.... 15¢") 4. A jukebox with a great selection 5. An old-school bowling machine. 6. An eclectic crowd of hipsters, aged hipsters, blue-collars, bluehairs, etc. 7. Good, affordable food that's a comfy notch up from the usual deep-fried whatever.

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
Since tonight is Art Walk, most Tremont places will be busier than usual but I think 6pm is early enough to avoid the Mongol hordes. I like Treehouse, but it's more of a drinking pub than a food spot - and if you go, be very very careful if you order the Stoli-Doli (vodka martini garnished with a vodka-soaked pineapple). My personal recommendations are either South Side http://www.southsidecleveland.com or Prosperity Social Club http://www.pluggedincleveland.com/restaurants/538+prosperity+social+club.html If you get at either around 6pm, you'll have about an hour or two of happy hour prices :-D

Cleveland: Cuyahoga County Gov't properties disposition (non-Ameritrust)
How about some pics of 1020 Euclid? 1010 Euclid actually has some nice detailing: And I have to say that the Breuer Tower can look really sleek under the right light:

^^Four. The Mather Mansion at CSU, the Howe Mansion (now CSU Administrative/Parker Hall), the Stager-Beckwith (aka Myers University) and the Foundation House (down by the Clinic. "Also, it sounds as if a there is going to be protest/demonstration in front of the Breuer sometime next week." I keep hearing this - organized by who, and when? And so help me god, if they schedule it during work hours (lunch is fine, 10am is not) ... :whip:

Cleveland: Cuyahoga County Gov't properties disposition (non-Ameritrust)
When people refer to Cleveland having a sour grapes "anti-wealthy" mentality, that's a perfect example.

Methinks that math is referring to the less-than-svelte Spiderman in the second photo, heading for Greek Express. Just for sh!ts and giggles, here is a brochure that was posted on the Design Rag blog. Some of the sentiment is a little inflammatory (though I agree certain groups are playing too "nice"), and the font choice couldn't be worse, but they bring up some good points:
