CLEVELAND - 26 Snowy Pics
^The mural is by Scott Radke, and is on a market on Fairfield, just east of the South Side.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
There were a few cars in the lot as I went by the Market today. Considering my bus (the #81) got stuck at Abbey and West 11th, I was impressed to see that many people out and about.

CLEVELAND - 26 Snowy Pics
So my boyfriend found out his workplace was open today - wanting to provide moral support, I decided to go with him. In a foot of snow. I'd say I've earned some brownie points. I have to say that RTA did a good job of getting us from Tremont to downtown - getting stuck only once (how often have you seen an RTA bus get stuck??). So being the geek that I am, I decided to snap a few pics: I don't think too many pedestrians will be on the Lorain-Carnegie bridge today: A few hardy souls were out on Public Square: Well I finally made it: Since there aren't too many people at work today, I take a break and head up to the twentieth floor of my building: I doubt the tennis courts on the roof of the One Cleveland Center garage will be getting much use today: East 9th isn't looking too pretty as it heads north to the Lake: The Rock Hall: The big white dome isn't snow, it's an enclosed soccer field for Cleveland State University: Even on a day like today, some City Hall workers take a smoke break: I always liked this view of the Cuyahoga County Courthouse, Browns Stadium and City Hall: Sorry about the blurry shots - the snow was coming down harder on this side of the building: Pretty empty over in the Warehouse District: Cleveland Browns Stadium again: The Terminal Tower looks bundled up for the weather: Even the folks in the Pinnacle Condos have to shovel - their balconies: One last pic of the Courthouse and I have to grab lunch - stay warm out there! :-)

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
Hi folks - if a thread has been outright deleted (rather than simply locked), it's likely that: 1. The original poster requested the deletion, or... 2. Another forumer requested the deletion due to the thread's content and the Admins/Mods agreed with the request. You're also welcome to PM us with questions so we can keep the threads on-topic. :-) And I could use $20.00 - I accidentally backed my truck into a piece of rebar, and umm, yeah - $20.00 will cover towing an 8-ton truck :-D

IMPORTANT QUESTION - What browser do you use?
"can't you just look at the log file for the site and figure out who is using what? if not, there is a small script that can run and log this info." 1. I'm 98% right brained (aka artsy) - "log files" and "scripts" are not my cup of tea. 2. I asked on behalf of the admins and a forumer who is working on a site redesign. Anyhoo, we have a good idea of what people are using, so this thread can be unstickied.

Cleveland: Downtown Office Buildings Updates
Jacobs has owned that parcel for decades - remember, in 1989-ish they were set to build a 1198' tower for Ameritrust but the Society/Ameritrust bank merger put the kibbosh on that. I would imagine that while a parking lot provides a steady cashflow, the folks at Jacobs Group would prefer to have something a smidge more lucrative there.

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
^I agree - scalewise, that's probably ideal for the location. However, putting up faux-Colonial, faux-Classical, faux-any historic architecture that's already been done would be a huge mistake. There's one thing I'd like to see in and around the Flats, should the concrete companies decide to relocate. Rather than demo'ing the silos, they could be reused as awesome (and solid as heck) residential projects. Here's a pic from the Terminal Tower of one such silo: The rounded building in the center is an example of how that could work (from staff on the skyscraperpage.com forum):

Cleveland: Downtown: The Avenue District
"Federal Courthouse Tower sits on a concrete matt foundation (concrete pad). 515 does also and that is designed for 25+ stories. We can "create" bedrock or sandstone closer to the surface through these systems. " Right - but the height limit for concrete pad construction is a little over 400ish feet. Get above that, and you have dig - reeeal deep.

Cincinnati: Fifth Third Bank
Copperplate Gothic in small caps with a swoosh? Ugh... amateurish at best. I shudder to think of the money invested (design by committee) to come up with that crap.

Cleveland: Downtown: The Avenue District
Folks, you also have to remember the soil conditions of downtown Cleveland, especially if you want to build over the 400-ish foot mark. In places like Chicago and NYC, the bedrock is around 25-50 feet below street level - in Cleveland, it's generally 200-250 feet under a lot of glacial sediment. That's a lot of extra expense just for the excavation portion of a project. With the 10-12 story developments, they don't need to be anchored to the bedrock.

Rest assured, that will never happen. I've been MayDay since I signed on skyscraperpage.com's forum almost ten (TEN!) years ago and I'll be MayDay until my ticker (or liver) conks out.

Grays Green would have been some sort of project connecting Playhouse Square to Gateway, right?
-
Cleveland: Steelyard Commons
The one aspect of this project that's worth mentioning gets scuttled because of something discovered "late last year"? I smell a steaming pile of horsesh!t and if they lose out on the trail extension, there should be hell to pay. :whip: I'm not going to buy for one second that no one had a clue about this crap.

Cleveland: Downtown: The Avenue District
So the option is on the land that hugs One Cleveland Center's garage? I know that was marked in the plans as possibly being used for part of the Avenue District - that'd be nice to see!
