Cleveland: Cuyahoga County Gov't properties disposition (non-Ameritrust)
"You cannot compare the Justice Center with this." Amen. The Justice Center brought the leveling of much of the Warehouse District in order to provide ample parking. That won't be happening here. As far as the 1010 Euclid Building - it was slated to be demo'd way back in the early 70s (before I was born) for the second phase of the Cleveland Trust Tower. Sure, it's a decent old building but it's not terribly remarkable.

Cleveland: Tremont: Development and News
"Wow, I saw St. Theodosius last Wednesday after the Colectivo meeting and was surprised to see it lit up." Love it! Two other somewhat recent lightings are the Anunciation Church (Greek Orthodox), and Zion UCC on West 14th. One of these days while the weather is still warm (and my sinus infection clears up), I'll try and get some pics.

Cleveland: University Circle: Cleveland Clinic Developments
Two new pics of the Clinic Heart Center - the glass isn't my favorite but it's not completely awful. This building is somewhat of an improvement over the usual Clinic designs:

Hilarious spam messages - post yours!
I always get a chuckle when I get smut spam for some floozy with a webcam, but nothing tops the subject line of my all time favorite: "Let us help you meet well-oiled hoochie mamas".

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower at Erieview & Galleria Renovation
Although it largely failed on the original plan (retail in the heart of downtown), I actually like the building itself. The interior is bright and light-filled, and it's less "bunker-esque" than similar malls in CBDs:

Cleveland Design Competition
From what I gather, Marc Lefkowitz, who ran Hotel Bruce has chosen to devote his efforts to GreenCityBlueLake.

"I hate frank gehry. I enjoy the simpson's episode where he is mocked, yet I am unhappy he has enough notoriety to be the focus of a simpson's episode. It is quite the dilemma." He does make quite lovely jewelry for Tiffany & Co.

General Roads & Highway Discussion (History, etc)
I don't think it gets much better than MLK Drive through Rockefeller Park - granted they aren't gateways to neighborhoods per se, but you get the idea.

CLEVELAND - Holiday get-together December 23rd @ 1pm
Okay folks, I checked with Great Lakes Brewing and they said that we have two options. Option 1: This option involves a set-in-stone headcount, a One Check policy, a 20% automatic gratuity, a credit card to "hold" the reservation, a 48-hour cancellation policy with a $15 per person fee. I totally understand the need for GLBC to have this but needless to say, we will be going with Option 2. Option 2: A call-ahead seating policy. I will call GLBC around noon on Saturday and ask for a reservation for about a dozen people at 1:00pm. The reservation will be under "Urban". That should give them time to accomodate our group. If we have more than a dozen people show up, no big whoop - we can sit at scattered tables, play musical chairs and mingle. If however, GLBC is completely swamped or we have to wait three hours for a table, our contingency site will be the Old Angle Tavern, which is about two blocks north on West 25th. http://www.oldangletavern.com/

South Euclid: Cedar Center
Htsguy, I have to agree with you for the most part. However, the one thing I like about it is the fact that it occupies a smaller site simply by going vertical. They got it completely wrong on the pedestrian access and other merits, but if it had street level pedestrian access, and more transparency (windows that you could see through and thus see activity), I could see something like this working in other sites where massive swaths of land aren't available. Let's face it, we haven't seen vertical retail worth mentioning since the peak of downtown shopping. For example, I think a two-level version of this (of course with the aforementioned improved pedestrian/street integration) would be a good fit for the northeast corner of West 117th and Clifton Boulevard in the Edgewater neighborhood. It would replace obsolete retail space but could also be meshed with the adjacent former Church of Christ Scientist.

Urban Ohio "Picture Of The Day"
"its amazing how short the street looks fron that angle." It's the telescoping effect from when I maxed out the zoom - like my shots up Euclid that made Fenn Tower look like it was at East 12th. I mean, look at how close the Federal Building looks from the Arcade.

South Euclid: Cedar Center
"That's bad news for Univ. Sq., I just don't think the residents nearby have fully embraced the concept of a vertical shopping center." Correct me if I'm wrong - is the only way to access the stores via the parking garage? I don't recall any of the first-floor stores having any street-facing entrance.

Career Networking / Job Posting Thread
Folks - don't ever say "Graphics Designer" or "Graphics Assistant". "Graphic" is the preferred term - "graphics" is the term used by clueless soccer moms in the marketing department, or the annoying sales rep who thinks his one art class in high school is reason enough to tell you how to do your job.

Cleveland: Cleveland State University: Development and News
"Worried about people "making fun" of the university. That's one of the most ridiculous things I've heard in a while." I completely agree. Schwartz has done some great things at CSU, so this really seems out of character. Hell, they need to get Brokaw or one of the local agencies that does well with "cheeky" marketing. I'm completely serious - I say play up the "CSU - Good for a Screw/CSU- You'll like our Screw" angle (I'm not a copywriter for obvious reasons, but you get my drift). This is Cleveland and self-deprecating humor is what we do best - got a burning river? Make it into the best damned pale ale on the planet! Make it an environmental/green technology festival! Now we have cutting-edge technology PLUS the sexy euphemisms!?! There is so much potential here! I'm telling you - can you imagine a festival centered around this? Screwfest?!? If that won't attract college students, I don't know what will! Maybe have Great Lakes Brewing co-sponsor an event (they're huge proponents of this kind of technology) - call it "Brews at the Screw" or "Brew and Screw"? Sure it sounds a little racy, but it would definitely get peoples' attention! I agree with zaceman, it can't just be plopped on any site, though.

Cleveland: The Park Building
They typically just use "filler" for the taxes and maintenance fee fields before they market a property.
