  1. Fwiw, Heinens has grab and go sandwiches and salads - I'd personally prefer somewhere in downtown proper but Sauce the City might be doable.
  2. Pretty sure they aren’t open for lunch during the week. Market didn’t survive the pandemic 😕
  3. Best for a discussion in the ‘Cleveland projects- which will be next?’ thread.
  4. The biggest disconnects I’m seeing are the fundamental lack of knowledge of how construction and financing works with multi-million dollar projects, and understanding that publicly traded companies are under no obligation to blow the budget to burrow tunnels or add a super tall to our skyline 🤷🏻‍♂️
  5. I don’t mind at all, and nice job on the rendering! 👍
  6. The one and only place I lived on campus back in the early 90s - long before they redid the facade. You managed to make it look almost inviting (almost - it's still Tri-Towers, haha).
  7. If they go for a more textured facade (thinking like the vertical steel mullions on Key Tower), it could look great. If they go for just a flat glass curtainwall, might end up more of a 'meh'. This is their Denver tower that's been mentioned before - I think if the vertical elements had more depth, it wouldn't read so flat in the first photo. The second photos shows what I mean, especially near the top of the building.
  8. The forum meet we had at Great Lakes Brewing, I figured we’d have ten attendees at absolute most. Imagine my surprise when it ended up being over 20! So yeah, we may just have to go with name tags on the next outing 😆
  9. Sooo, should we break it out into multiple stages? Something like: - Happy hour for the ceremonial groundbreaking - Happy hour for signage announcing the closure of the parking lot - Happy hour for the fencing off of said parking lots - Happy hour for small to medium excavation equipment on site - Happy hour for heavy duty excavation equipment on site - Happy hour for mobile crane on site - Happy hour for completion of the tower crane(s) on site - Happy hour for the topping off ceremony - Happy hour for official opening 😁🍺🥂
  10. Looks like my lunch breaks just got a lot more interesting 😁 @Geowizicalthank you again! 👍
  11. Obviously it will be a while before shovels are in the ground, but that means there’s ample time to plan a place and time for a forum meet/happy hour to celebrate the groundbreaking 🥂🍺🎉 As the day gets closer, be on the lookout for info and updates. Also,@ColDayMan has offered to cover the entire tab 😁 (KIDDING!)
  12. I posted something similar back when the announcement was first made - feels appropriate for an update. It's one meme I'll happily put to rest once we see structural steel rise above street level 🙂
  13. With family in town, we've been checking out spots and activities we normally wouldn't do on our own. For instance, the Nautica Queen dinner cruise - all in all pleasantly surprised. The biggest and best surprise for me was the weather - about two hours before boarding, it was looking like a potential washout like we had for the Goodtime III. Not only wasn't it a not a washout, the air was insanely crisp and it was a beautiful evening, although the water was a little choppy.
  14. As I hinted in a post in the random photos thread, took a trip on the Goodtime III on Saturday. It certainly wasn't a sunny day but it wasn't a total washout. Apologies in advance for the quality on some of these, still figuring out settings on the new camera and Mother Nature wasn't in the best mood 😉 The entire top deck of the Goodtime was rooting for this guy and sure enough, he landed a doozy of a fish!

Taking the new camera out for a spin on lunch breaks - might have to make a separate thread soon, in case I have a Good time 😉
  16. @GeowizicalNo, we do not “seem” to enjoy your renderings, we F’n love them! Thank you for contributing, it’ll be interesting to see how things play out and if they match up with what you’ve shared. @Chazz Michael Michaels Although I prefer threads stay close to topic, you get bonus points for a quote from one of many favorite films from the 80s. “Herb, we got a cleanup in Aisle 5!!!” 😆
  17. Oh yes, I spent plenty of evenings at the Town Tavern, usually the second floor with all the other art/fashion school freaks 😈

A few standard skyline pics from yesterday. Not bad for a parking lot view (from the Avian on Carter Road).

Just a few pics from yesterday.
  20. Most of the opposition centers around the parking; and yes there's a sense of NIMBYism but it's not from relatively new residents. A lot are people who have been in Tremont for decades. It sounds like the block clubs are organizing against; I don't know about other parts of the city but in Tremont - if the block club is opposed, that's one tough hill to climb for any developer.
  21. You don't often see the earlier rendering of Key Tower like the rendering you've shared. The architects revised the design to preserve the view of the Terminal Tower from the War Memorial Fountain and Mall A, which resulted in the more sheer facades on the eastern and western sides and bumped up the height to 948 feet (including the spire).
  22. I can’t find the post but nothing will ever top the time I “lopped off” the top (more decorative) floors of the Terminal Tower waaay back in the day. Holy cow, a few people seriously blew a gasket on that one! 🤣
  23. Did any of our forum sleuths happen to get this in their email? Tower at Erieview owners appeal for historic tax credit variance March 31, 2021 In a first for the state of Ohio's historic tax credits, the owners of the Tower at Erieview have announced an appeal to the Ohio Development Services Agency for a recently awarded $5 million state tax credit. The 1960s tower's historic tax credits were awarded Wednesday, August 5, 2020. In an unusual move, the redevelopment plans retain the historic details of the tower, designed in the International Style while adding what the owners call "sensitive enhancements". The enhancements, partially revealed in a provided rendering include the addition of exterior elevators on the northern and southern facades, and the addition of spires atop the elevator structures. A notable mention in the press release was the potential for the reopening of the popular but long-closed Top of the Town restaurant. The firm TontAbril are listed as architects of record for the project. A spokesperson stated "these additions are harmonious with other buildings of the time, including the iconic Hancock Building in Chicago". Although aware of the strict guidelines involved, sources pointed out though the tower is near Burke Lakefront Airport, the additions have been cleared by the FAA, and will also provide income through leasing to mobile communications companies.
