Really Stupid Art Question
Hmm, I appreciate it for what it is but it's not my favorite that he's done. I prefer the style seen in the first image I posted. I know he has a Cleveland piece similar to that.

Cleveland: A Christmas Story Museum
Hmm, they need to do some spiffying up of Rowley and West 11th before that happens.

Youngstown-Warren: General Business & Economic News
"What happens when MyNetworkTV goes out of business (which it will)?" Let me put it this way - you would think a series like "Fashion House" with over-the-top b!tchfights involving Bo Derek and Morgan Fairchild (and some nice eye-candy) could keep "my peoples'" attention. You would be wrong. It's that bad.

the new museum and the toledo museum
Believe me - I'm all for really forward-thinking and innovative work. I love the new Akron Art Museum (Coop Himmelblau), some of the work by Thom Mayne and Morphosis, Zaha, etc. As I said, I even like a museum that this group designed. A lot of people like to shop at Wal-Mart, but that doesn't make it right ;-) Just because a few people who never leave the architectural bubble say "it's FABulous" - it doesn't mean we can't have our own opinion. That said - I really don't care for this project, at least based on the renderings - I want to see the finished building. If it resembles the faceless plunked-together cubes that we see in the rendering, I think it's gimmicky. If the materials that are used somehow make those cubes work, I might change my mind.

the new museum and the toledo museum
I MUCH prefer Boston's new contemporary art museum or SANAA's design for the museum in Kanazawa, Japan. If MOCA Cleveland ends up looking ANYTHING like this bloated Jenga tower of cargo containers, I'll be seriously disappointed:

Cleveland: Local produce and greenmarkets
"My mother regularly sites Heinen's though as the number one reason why she'd never live anywhere else." When I lived in Westlake, I would always go to the Heinens in Bay (or Lake Road Market) - it was so much more pleasant than anywhere else. Clean, well-stocked, knowledgeable and helpful staff - and honestly, the prices were competitive with other grocery stores like Giant Eagle or Tops. They just happen to have more upscale merchandise next to the bargain-priced staples. "Buy local and get drunk!" You don't have to tell ME twice! :drunk:

Cleveland taxi cab stuff
^I would guess around $5-6ish plus tip. That's just a ballpark guess and a highball at that. FWIW, I've taken cabs from WHD to West 104th and Lake, and the total was about $9 or $10 plus tip.

Cleveland taxi cab stuff
"If you've ever tried to get a cab on Public Square" Yeah, I have - on numerous occasions, and succeeded with little (if any) effort. Here's a little tip - go to the lineups at either the Renaissance Hotel or the Marriott at Key Center and walk right up to the first cab in line. No, it's not the same thing as hailing from the street but it works. As far as the Warehouse District, I've never had a problem on West 6th - granted it's been a while since I've gone out there. I know there was an issue a while back about whether cabs could pick up passengers. When I used to go out, there was a designated spot near Johnson Court where they'd line up.

Why are people in Cincinnati so #$%^ing rude?
"you'd never see that kind of service at Heinen's" If you want to be a stickler, the parcel pickup boys need to learn that one doesn't slam doors or trunk lids shut. :-)

Possibly moving to San Francisco
"The job is in SOMA. No idea where I'm going to live, however. I'm open to suggestions." Fill a flask with equal parts scotch, vodka, brandy and gin - take a few swigs to prepare yourself for the sticker shock. Beyond that, good luck! :-)

Suburban Cleveland: Development and News
""I think the center is turning out fine," said McGill, who has been working on the project since 2002. "But the process to get it developed hasn't been the smoothest in the world." Oh gee, sorry that the EPA had the nerve to try and uphold some standards on an ill-sited strip plaza. Not that one is better than the other, but it wouldn't surprise me to see this center lose a lot of business to Steelyard Commons.

Why are people in Cincinnati so #$%^ing rude?
"I had a customer service job for the last two years and I know how important it is to appease the customers. You're there to work, no matter what it is." Whenever you hear people talk of a "Midwestern work ethic" - the words I bolded in your quote explain it perfectly. While you might not understand it now, believe me when I say that that very work ethic is a commodity; don't ever let anyone take advantage of it - but whatever you do - don't lose it.

Cincinnati: OTR: North Main Street Discussion
The Projects and Construction section is for actual projects only. I'm not discouraging creative ideas but this belongs in City Discussions. Also, there are a lot of Main Streets in Ohio - not just Cincinnati so I changed your title.

Well, the new menu is here - the prices are a smidge higher than when they were in Tremont but I guess that goes with their new flagship restaurant:
