ColDayMan is Nice?!?!?
Didn't you try this a while ago? Why would we want ColDayMan to be nice? That would be like me going hetero, and what would be the point of that?!?

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
I've been going there since it was first Miracles (awesome potato pancakes), then Oz, now Sage. In each case they had a really great atmosphere and good food but I think the drawback was that there are only so many people in the region to be able to sustain independent "bistro" style places. That was especially true with Oz and Sage - great food, and not super expensive but pricey enough that it wouldn't be an "everyday" place a la South Side, Waterstreet, etc. The Sage people did come up with a wonderful "5 after 5" offer - 5 small but decent dishes for $5, and $5 for a limited martini menu. I don't think they promoted themselves at much as they could, to be honest. Given the high-traffic site, I doubt that space will stay shuttered for long. I just think it may need a different concept than bistro food. Honestly, I think Tremont/Ohio City are getting saturated with the bistro-level concept with Fat Cats, Lolita, Lago, Parallax, Fahrenheit, Flying Fig, etc. The area could use more Lava Lounge, South Side, Prosperity kinda joints if you ask me.

As one Tremont spot opens, another closes. Sage Bistro is closing October 1st according to a post on cleveland.com's Food Forum by the owners of Civilization :-(

Ohio: GM, Ford, and Chrysler News & Info
"Stefanini said his Ford dealerships have had a bit of a lull after coming off the most successful buying program ever -- zero percent financing for 72 months -- last week." What does that say about their vehicles if their most successful sales came from offering absurdly low financing - rather than actually offering such wonderful product? Monte, I have to agree - domestic automakers are able to be forward-looking when it comes to the bottom line, and that's a sad way to approach business.

Show a pic of yourself!
I hear you Rob - my S.O. has a lot of flowers in his garden that are on their way out. I'll miss the 8-foot hollyhocks the most :-( Here's a pic of me and my galpal from Cincy, at her wedding reception :-)

Cleveland: Downtown: The Avenue District
If I understand correctly - we would be standing at the southwest corner of East 12th and St. Clair (by the One Cleveland Center parking garage), looking northeast. St. Clair curves slightly north just east of East 12th, thus the curve in the building facade.

Cleveland Neighborhoods in 2016
^I don't disagree that the stock needs some sprucing up, but in some cases it's a matter of how things are configured. I've seen some living rooms in lovely older homes that were nice, but they wouldn't fit a sectional, entertainment center/armoire, etc. Same thing with bathrooms - there's a reason that having double sinks are also called "marriage savers" ;-)

Columbus: Arts News & Discussion
"The operations endowment currently stands at $12 million. A separate endowment, at $8 million, generates revenue strictly for art purchases." So a total endowment of $20 million. To put things in perspective, the Cleveland Museum of Art has an endowment of approximately $700 million. Glad to hear Columbus is getting a boost - they need it!

Cleveland: University Circle (General): Development and News
"Like EWWW Gag me with a pitchfork! That crap looks like someone "threw up" Miami on a neighborhood and said "its hot"! I don't think so!" Riiiight, there's certainly no need to improve on these beauties!

Cleveland: Downtown: East 4th Street Developments
I personally try to avoid eating after 10pm - a girl's gotta watch her figure, y'know ;-) Maybe they could recreate the Big Egg somewhere along East 4th!

You could also try PJs Luncheonette in the Colonial Arcade - it ain't haute cuisine, but it's definitely greasy diner fare (and dirt cheap). Another healthy option is Octane Cafe on Euclid near East 6th: http://www.octanecafe.com/powerbreakfast_05.htm

Ohio: Casino / Gaming Discussion
"Language that guarantees Learn and Earn funds will not be offset by cuts in state funding. That's what happened to casino receipts in Detroit, Jackson said. The city is "worse off" despite three casinos, the mayor said." I'm not opposed to casinos/gambling (though I don't partake other than a dollar once a week on a lottery ticket), but my biggest concern is that the legislation is worded to prevent what happened in Detroit.

Cleveland: Stonebridge Phase 5
Welcome to the forum! It's coming along nicely - see the lighter-colored steel in this photo? About three or four more floors have been completed since it was taken:

"I already contacted the downtown alliance about volunteering, and never got a response." I wish I could say I was surprised. That's absolutely pathetic on their part.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
^That also gives you an idea of just how unstable the hillside is. Franklin, especially near the crest of the hill near the Transitional Housing is in awful shape and buckling severely. Stupid glaciers!* *The glaciers that carved out Lake Erie deposited a lot of shale and sediment just south of the shoreline (aka downtown and whatnot), thus making for really bad soil conditions. :speech: Here's a pic that shows the amazing view (one of my favorites):

"waiting to be turned into a park that nobody will use." I have to disagree - one thing that Ohio City lacks, especially along the West 25th corridor is greenspace. I think if it was properly re-done, it could be a great asset to the neighborhood.

"^ I 'll let Marinucci know about it. I don't think he is aware" Not aware??? If that's the case, that's completely unfathomable to me. I can't imagine a CEO of any organization, much less a "not-for-profit advocate dedicated to building a dynamic downtown" not being aware that one of their most potentially powerful marketing tools is out of date, and obsolete. That's very telling.

Well, considering that Downtown Cleveland Partnership, *ahem* Downtown Cleveland Alliance STILL hasn't updated their site (other than having the new URL link to the old site http://www.downtownclevelandalliance.com/), I'd be reluctant to put them in charge of branding anything. Sorry, it's just a flat-out embarrassment that the latest press release is from January of 2005, and the latest newsletter is from August of 2005, AND there's no direct email link on their contact page - that particular aspect is the worst, imho. It's 2006, folks - get some spam filters, get some technology, take a class on how to use email, and get with the program. An organization's site is its calling card, and when the image they promote is one that needs updating and doesn't embrace communication - what does that tell you about their level of commitment? Sure, my site hasn't been updated since July of 2006, but then again I don't have a multi-million dollar budget, corporate backing, or a staff of more than one
