  1. " Where is the mayor holding a conference to change the police policies???" Last I heard, he was with the family and fellow officers at Metrohealth expressing his sorrow. Of course someone might come along and claim that this dirtbag (and yes, I think he and any copkiller is a dirtbag) was somehow a "victim", but knock it off with the idea that Clevelanders don't support cops. Every time I've met one of Cleveland's finest - the first thing I do is thank them for doing their job. I recently told the folks at 2nd district that they're underpaid and they did a fantastic job when I recently needed their help.

Unfortunately no - but I'll have my camera and I think the rehearsal is downtown so I'll try to get some pics while I'm there :-)

I'm only in from Saturday to Sunday, so my spare time will be spent going from rehearsal to rehearsal dinner to the hotel to the wedding to the reception to the hotel and back "up where we belong" ;-) And Cincy-Rise doesn't play on my team!
  4. The guy I'm referring to doesn't come any further south than Lake Avenue (he patrols Lake, Edgewater, Harborview, Cliff, etc.), and he doesn't have a ponytail.
  5. As awful (health-wise) as they sound, my guess is that they're deep-fried clumps of mac-and-cheese?
  6. Hmm, $8.35 for a small Hawaiian pizza sounds pretty good for lunch! :-D (yes, I'm the only person on the planet who likes those!)
  7. Hi folks, I'll be visiting Greater Cincinnati this weekend for my galpal's wedding. She was thoughtful enough to have it at a winery so it should be a lot of fun. :-D Obviously I'll be taking I-71 so I checked the ODOT site for construction and it seemed like there are a few spots south of Columbus that might be of concern (construction-wise). Has anyone traveled that way recently, and if so - how bad was it? Also, I know there's a game at OSU on Saturday - I'm guessing taking 270 West is the best way to avoid the traffic there? Thanks in advance for any tips!
  8. He's employed by the Edgewater homeowners' association. I've met him while I was out taking photos - he's a pretty nice guy.
  9. "You asked for it, you're getting it." Easy there, skippy - you do realize that in some cases, you're preaching to the choir?
  10. I guessed a few already, so I'll let some others have a crack :-)
  11. "COPE2" He was at the 2005 fest - they brought in a vinyl-wrapped Scion xB for him:
  12. ^ink, they produce more than the canvases you see. Many of them work as studio artists or graphic designers and they make a good living at it. Some have sold pieces in galleries for healthy four-digit amounts. The dancers are often members of local dance groups - some of them offer lessons and thus generate income that way. I know that graffiti has a somewhat-deserved stigma, but when we're talking about people using this style of expression in legal venues - I'd say they're doing the right thing. Vandals aka "Taggers" on the other hand, deserve to have their thumbnails removed using pliers
  13. "All that potential wasted..." How so?
  14. It is indeed Higbees - the "Ho ho HO" is how the deranged Santa Claus in "A Christmas Story" greeted Ralphie. For those who don't know, that scene and many others were filmed in different Cleveland locales.
  15. Yes, and yes! Good job, guys!

peabody, do you go to Zen? So does my S.O. :-)
  17. ella, you're absolutely right! 8Shades, no one has guessed either of those (yet). I added a hint for #4 :-)
  18. Where do you get your info about Riverview?
  19. Part 2 of City Xpressionz: These two got a jump on the dance competition Still spraying away: The West Side Market looms over the festival: Someone takes a more abstract approach: This guy brought his compressor so he could airbrush: DJ Onit spins away: Some completed pieces: The airbrushing allowed for some nice detail work on this piece: Unfortunately I couldn't stay for the dance competition but plenty of others did. Hope you enjoyed! :-)
  20. Early in the morning, only a few people out and about and a lot of blank canvases: One artist gets an early start: Corporate sponsor, Scion had these nifty miniature xB's: The larger canvases were awarded to winners of a competition: Minute by minute the canvases are transformed: The MC working the crowd, while DJ Santina plays some great tracks: Future breakdancers! Shoppers from the West Side Market take notice: Eek! Fun place for a date: Looks like Scion is getting some potential buyers: Another large canvas gets under way: Not part of the event, but a sweeeet set of wheels! Downtown off in the distance: Another canvas gets going - this was this artist's first time at the event: Two art forms, one place (Cleveland Film Society HQ in background): Two more canvases, and the crowds start to show up: Taking a quick walk up West 25th - these vendors are usually in the park, but they've been moved onto the street. Made for quite a festive atmosphere: This project is underway, two blocks north of the festival. The Jay Hotel (former flophouse) is being reworked and expanded into a condo project: They're making progress! Part II, coming up! :-)
  21. Fair enough - I added some hints :-)

Barber? There are plenty of regular barber types around downtown (and salons as well). I can recommend salons since I'm admittedly a little more high maintenance. Dentists - I've heard good things about Superior Dentistry in the Leader Building (East 6th at Superior). Feel free to ask more info :)
  23. ^True, but it seems like he's maybe downsizing his investments to a more manageable level?
  24. ^Little trivia tidbit, Harvey Oppmann owned the Arcade before LR Development bought it and turned into the Hyatt.
