@urbanetics_Thanks for posting these - crazy how much the area is changing. Did it look like the Towpath bridge over Literary Road was close to completion?

CLEVELAND - 2020 and crawling across the finish line
In keeping with this decade's theme thus far 🤪 there's no real order, rhyme or reason to these. I've been fortunate to have been gainfully employed (working remote) since the pandemic hit, so didn't get out as much as I'd hoped. I'm also in the camp of limiting travel so there's that, but hopefully 2021 and vaccinations bring more opportunities to get out with the camera.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
I've mentioned before that I really like a lot of towers that evoke structural expressionism (Norman Foster's HSBC building in Hong Kong, etc.). That Miami Worldcenter's cross bracing is along the lines of what I'm hoping for - provides visual reference to our iconic bridges without being trite.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
Any off topic posting in this thread will earn the forumer a week off. Think before you post. https://www.news5cleveland.com/news/local-news/cleveland-metro/heavy-local-and-federal-police-presence-at-steelyard-commons-for-possible-shooting

Cleveland: Steelyard Commons
Folks, if a thread like the Cleveland Crime thread is locked, there’s a reason. Don’t make an off topic post in a development/construction thread. If you happen to see an off topic post, don’t take the thread further off topic.

Thanks for sharing these, and yes we would love to see more 🙂

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
Okay folks, thanks to a few knuckleheads this thread was locked. Again. As usual, lots of tangental posts (which unfortunately may have had some good discussion points) got pruned. Other posts were nothing more than back-and-forth/stir-sh!t-up - if you're thinking "is that directed at me?", yeah - yeah it is. It's why we have a private messaging option - use it. That said - when the Admins and Mods are handing out suspensions (and it's the holiday season so we're in the giving spirit), we consider the forumer's overall contributions. Simply put - if we review posts and see nothing other than argumentative/off-topic garbage, the suspension gets a little longer. When we see certain forumer's posts rarely adding to the discussion of the core areas/threads (urban planning, development, etc.), that's pretty telling that the Admins/Mods will have to spend an inordinate amount of time dealing with them - and the suspension gets even longer. The non-core threads and sections like Current Events are offered as a courtesy. Membership and participation on this forum is a privilege and should be treated as such.

Orange Village: Pinecrest
We have a separate thread for retail/tangental discussions (which rehash the same d@mn thing every six months).

Cleveland: Random Development and News
Good article - they missed a few of the older redevelopments in the Warehouse District (Grand Arcade, Marshall Building, etc.).

Trying to imagine where these hundreds might go, but here's hoping 🤞

Burn it. Photoshop it out. Especially the scripty basic b!tch bon mots of what one should do when in a particular room.

Cleveland: Downtown & Vicinity Residences Discussion
Not sure about the right thread or not (I'll let the other Admins and Mods weigh in), and although decor is subjective - I have some suggestions about the listing photos (like my people usually do 🌈 )

Cleveland: Random Visualizations & Massings
@Pleco Just so it's clear - I think based on the response here, the answer to "should I post my renderings" in this thread is always 100% an emphatic YES - thank you for the effort and time you put into these.

I've been very fortunate to be busy with work lately, and fully admit I need to find some time to update clevelandskyscrapers.com - but a little history in the world of skyscraper geek websites: Back in 1997, I started my site on GeoCities (remember them?) and in 2000 I moved everything to the official URL. Back then, the skyscraper geek community was pretty small so it didn't take long for the folks at Emporis (then known as skyscrapers.com) to find my site. They really liked the level of detail I provided as well as multiple photos that really tried to showcase the best of each building. At some point - their contact person suggested a collaboration, sounded like a great idea. Until they put it out there that in their mind that meant me handing over all my photos and info that I had researched so they could be the "WAL*MART" of skyscraper geek sites. If you've ever met me, you can probably imagine my response (if I recall, it was something along the lines of taking their collaboration and aggressively inserting into the digestive tract in the opposite fashion that the digestive tract was intended to work 😉). That and what was essentially a cease and desist to remove any material I had already contributed. If you wonder why their Cleveland section has inconsistencies, that's a big part of it. Now sort of getting back on topic - Key Tower is 948 feet to the top of the spire, and 888 feet to the top of the pyramidal crown. Honestly, not sure of the height to the base of the crown but there are six mechanical floors tucked inside of it (which seeing that was a whole other story). To that point, I'm just going to leave these here from when I saw the crown and spire up close - REAL close 😁

Update of the Towpath along University Road; looks like they're adding lookout 'terraces' with grills.

CLEVELAND - randomly from here 'Tow' morning ;)
@mrclifton88Thank you and agreed ? I remember the initial plans for the Towpath on the east edge of Tremont waaay back in the day and thinking “ehhh, how’s that going to play out” and here we are ? In addition to the Buick reference, feel free to also use “not the sharpest tool in the shed” ?

CLEVELAND - randomly from here 'Tow' morning ;)
Another batch, pretty much all from the Tremont and Scranton Flats sections of the Towpath. First, let's start with a little love from 1111 Superior.

It was right up there with any new restaurant/bar/club announcing "a concept that's never been in Cleveland!". As if Clevelanders (prior to COVID) never leave their home or travel to the same places said people snagged their ideas. Anyway, to get back on topic - curious what they mean by "rivaling" Key Tower - are we talking a "hey, you've been the big cheese for a while so gonna stay in my lane of 700-800ish feet but we're cool" or "YO! I'm the new sheriff in town" - time will tell. ?

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
I know we're all excited about a game-changing addition to the Cleveland skyline, BUT the real question is - will it have this*? *For those who don't know, when the Avenue District tower was announced, the marketing materials included some hyperbole (typical for real estate and development). However, one of the phrases was that "world class signage" would be at the construction site. When that ended up being vinyl banners plastered on jersey barriers, there was some chops-busting and a little bit of derision on the forum, as you can imagine. ?

Okay, it’s a stretch yet tangentially sorta-ish on topic; on September 4th I posted a photo thread from a cruise on the Goodtime III. As usual I’m not always in photos because I’m behind the camera but for whatever reason my husband said ‘let me get your picture’ at this spot. Just now realized - the SHW tower will be filling the spot just above my Burning River Pale Ale (and their logo!). So was this my subliminal way of suggesting SHW light a fire under it? ? ? #coincidence?

CLEVELAND - randomly from here 'Tow' morning ;)
I was having some technical difficulties with this post, fully admitting I'm not always the brightest blinker on the Buick. Anyway, what's been 'keeping me sane/getting through the night/take your pick' is getting out with the camera in tow. For those who follow my Instagram, apologies for the duplicity but had a reminder of 'no matter what, the sun's still gonna rise' and took a few pics just to be sure. Apologies for the disparity in quality - sometimes I can bring out the DSLR, others (walking the dog) it's best to do my best with a point and shoot. Anyway, I've always loved early fall for photography - not too cold, humidity is dropping, lighting gets a little more dramatic. Subject matter is a little random but mostly downtown and views from the Tremont stretch of the Towpath. From Cliff Drive - I guess what struck me most was ... we've added three significant buildings (Lumen, Beacon, Hilton) and just the way things line up from this view, the only one making any noticeable impact on the skyline is the Hilton. To get through troubling times in society, it's Key to keep looking up ? From the architectural photography angle, not having people in the Arcade is a bonus. Gotta say I'd rather have those folks in the way, keeping the eateries and shops in business and cluttering the shot. FYI to anyone who (like me) favored this place at lunch hour - they've removed the seating and tables (at least as of Thursday, September 17th). Next up, some shots from the Tremont stretch of the Towpath - near the West 12th/Clark trailhead. Okay, some scenic vantage points. Lest we forget, this is old school Tremont (the Southside) so at this trailhead, you're treated to a sweeping view of Airgas, the impound lot and the steel mills. ?♂️ The good news is the remediation of Clark Fields is plugging along. On the other hand - if you want to check this stretch out, be aware it's a popular spot for coyotes so keep your puppies on a leash and in close proximity. The mounds depicted here offer some great views for those hardy enough to trek to the top (I've done it once, and being of a certain age - it might be while before I try that again) Electric Gardens apartments - guessing the homeowners in CityView who paid north of $500K for their places aren't too thrilled about this blocking some of their view? Looking forward to when this bridge is completed - for now it's an awkward transition from the trail to what remains of University Avenue. But can't complain about the views ? September 19th, reflecting on the passing of Ruth Bader Ginsburg - as I said in a post back in March when things started unraveling - no matter what, the sun's still gonna rise. Be healthy, safe and well and in the spirit of RBG - be brave; courage for our friends ❤️

CLEVELAND - Been waiting for a Goodtime to come back
Well, there was the "OHIO!!!" shot from Shooters in 'The Drew Carey Show' but I don't know how many episodes they used that. I have to admit, I never ever thought to frame it that way but yeesh, if you're right? ?
