Cleveland - Step by Step
About 7,500 steps (need a few more to get rid of the 'quarantine fifteen') and 40ish photos from Scranton Flats trail this morning Always a good day when one of the freighters shows up - the Menominee (and incorporated barge) are twenty feet longer than the Terminal Tower's height: I knew they were working on the Lorain-Carnegie/Hope Memorial Bridge but didn't know a paint job was part of it: Lumen loomin' Not sure how long this building will last but that second floor has some interesting 'green' features: Fyi, the random white specks in the photos are the seedlings from the white flowers in the foreground. Not sure what they are - part of me thought "cool, it looks like it's snowing" but then again it's too nice to mention that 's-word'. Like peas in a pod.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
The only issues I have with profanity in posts is for those viewing the forum from work and potentially being blocked by filters, etc. I’m not an IT guy but if that’s not an issue since it’s a gif/meme, have at it. And if it features a sassy drag queen? Heyyyy gurrrl! ? (side note, who knew we have a respectable showing of the Rainbow Tribe on the forum?) As far as Bounce becoming a co-working space - can’t say it was ever my favorite club but glad to see the site is still viable. I just wonder about the co-working business model in the time of a pandemic. As far as the neighborhood changing, it’s just the pattern of redevelopment; back in the day it was the Warehouse District - “our people” and the creative crowd set up shop, others took notice, and the rest is history.

Show a pic of yourself!
So a while back, I purchased a few facemasks from Yellowcake (Cleveland based design shop) and they asked me to post a review on their Facebook page and a photo of me wearing the mask. Fast forward to today - Fox8 did a story on Yellowcake's plans to get facemask vending machines in grocery stores, etc. Guess who made a brief cameo for a hot minute? ?

Exploring the Towpath
Yep, it's so nice to have such an amenity in walking distance - thanks for the pics. Fyi, although it may not look it (and obviously watch your step!) but University is somewhat navigable by foot going east and some great views of downtown from there.

Cleveland - I'm getting out
Second verse, same as the first - but tack on an extra couple of miles ? Yeah the entry point of this stretch of the Towpath features views of the Industrial Valley and the impound lot... guessing the tourist brochures won't be focusing here. Winding paths going by the chemical processing plant: Nope, not landfill but mounds -recommend the furthest east for the better skyline pic (see upthread): Tremont has always been a bit unorthodox ... oh wait ? Let's try and lift our spirits. View just steps away from the former Valleyview. Okay folks, time to take down the holiday decorations! 'AVEn't got a clue. Lots of old school southsiders (and some not so old school) give this the "who'da thunk?" Terminal goals. Like a bridge over ... well, Literary (the Towpath will eventually include a bridge from the dirt mound to the paved area in the foreground) We've got it down Pat... Pat's in the Flats. Getting to the good parts. Choo choo!!! Big three. Big pic ?

Cleveland - I'm getting out
Wish I could say the same about me but I'm pushing 48, my gym is closed and I haven't been to my hairstylist in so long I'm *this* close to having my alterna-goth-emo bangs from 1988! ? @mrclifton88 for the first four photos, that's the stretch that runs along the eastern side of Tremont - not the most traditionally scenic but also a little less crowded and the 490 skyline view from the mounds is pretty cool. I typically hop on at the top of the hill at West 11th and Clark (see below where the arrow points to Stage 3:2018, short walk from West 14th and Clark; if you're driving there's a parking area accessible on the north side of Clark at the bottom of the hill before you reach Quigley. For the rest of the photos, multiple access points along Scranton Road between Carter and University and also by Sokolowski's on Abbey between West 11th and West 14th, parking adjacent/under the Innerbelt bridge at Abbey.

Cleveland - I'm getting out
No, I'm not going anywhere any time soon and have no plans to leave but for sanity's sake, getting out and taking photos when I can ? Glad to have the nearby legs of the Towpath in easy walking distance.

Another day, another walk... annnd I forgot to put the memory card in my DSLR so crappy phone pic it is ??♂️ Apparently the Cuyahoga is at record levels today ?

Cleveland: Historic Photos
I always enjoy these but this one is technically incorrect (doesn't change how cool it is, though). The original construction consisted of only 14 window bays spanning the Superior side. In 1910, four additional bays were added - see the thicker vertical strip on the left side - that's where they were added.

@mrclifton88 that can't be the Athlon/CAC ? Apologies for being away from the forum - I work in the insurance industry; if anyone ever wants to suggest insurance is boring, after the past week or so, I highly beg to differ. That said, I finally found a quick moment to get some CDC-compliant socially distant fresh air on the Scranton stretch of the Towpath today.

I was maintaining the Cleveland development thread at the skyscraperpage.com forum for almost two decades but eventually the site's management let everything go to h#ll (trolls, site security, updating the software, etc.). So I decided if they aren't going to invest in the forum, I'm not going to bother spending my time there. It's still a good resource for other cities but for Cleveland, the most current info is here on UrbanOhio. Back on topic, please! ?

CLEVELAND UrbanOhio 2019 - Wednesday, December 11th Noon @ Market/1801 East Ninth Street with SPECIAL GUEST
It was Pho Thang on Rockwell/Ninth; love the place but 1. not everyone loves Vietnamese food and 2. in the interest of time and amount of people showing up, best to stick with more “fast casual” spots - so Masthead might be a good choice ?

Enjoying your photo posts; if you’re posting one or a few pics, could you post them in the Cleveland: Random Photo thread? Individual photo thread posts are better suited for batches of images. Thanks!

#ijs ya fetuses! It was posted in the Retail thread but getting back on topic... Wish I had chance to check the place out; maybe they were just a little ahead of their time - a lot of adjacent construction but not enough completed and residents to sustain the business?

^I wouldn’t be able to make it there during the week but great suggestion; been meaning to try it out. ? On second thought ?

^Thought about that, and in theory it'd be great but a few concerns: First floor is a non-starter - too much commotion especially at lunchtime for a large group Second floor (north/Euclid side) - their communal tables only hold eight each and not sure if those are movable? I think our last meetup at Market we had about 16 people ? Second floor (west/East Ninth side) - last time I checked, we'd need to probably take over every non-hightop they have

Yes, I guess we're due for another meet up. I'm struggling to think of somewhere other than Market that's: Centrally located (downtown/CBD) Easily accessible via main transit/trolley lines Can accommodate our group without major hassle (anymore we routinely fill at least one of the communal tables at Market) Offers variety of dining for anyone with dietary constraints Relatively budget friendly If anyone has suggestions, let me know - thanks!
