The Official *I Love Cleveland* Thread
My experience was a little different - when I heard the DJ announce "slow skate, all skate, LADIES CHOICE" (aka ladies picked a guy to skate with along with whatever REO Speedwagon ballad), I made a beeline for the arcade area. In a somewhat related note, the soundtrack to 'Xanadu' was one of my favorites and for years I was reigning champ/high scorer on Ms. Pac-Man 🏳️🌈

Cleveland: Historic Photos
As I usually do on the rare occasion I have some downtime, I'm going through old memory cards to archive the thousands of images I've taken over the years. Came across a batch from 2015 - I'm fully aware these might not fall under the traditional definition of "historic" but there's been so much that's changed (or unchanged, in some cases), I figured why not? No particular order, hope you enjoy a trip down memory lane. Public Square from 200 Public Square: 200 Public Square atrium: Icon from Saint Theodosius Russian Orthodox Cathedral: Saint Theodosius Russian Orthodox Cathedral: Main dome interior of Saint Theodosius Russian Orthodox Cathedral: Saint Theodosius Russian Orthodox Cathedral - in case you didn't know, the building caught fire this year and is currently being reconstructed. Hilton facade under construction: Scranton Flats Towpath: Scranton Flats Towpath, this land has since been leveled and the Collins apartments are under construction: The Federal Building was still undergoing a facade replacement which seemed to take forever: Hilton construction: West 14th Street and Innerbelt construction in the Tremont neighborhood: Detail view of Euclid Grand apartments, before restoration: Senator Sherrod Brown and Connie Schultz on the steps of City Hall, when the Obergefell v. Hodges decision was handed down (not long after, my husband and I joined the ranks of the happily married - well, I'M happily married, lol!). I recall Connie Schultz declaring "the dragon is dead" in reference to the anti-LGBTQ+ sentiments - wishful thinking I guess. Hilton construction: Walnut Wednesday at Perk Park: View of the Sherwin Williams HQ tower site from Prospect and West 3rd. Now demolished, Haabs Bakery in Duck Island: Hilton construction from the Goodtime III: Skyline from I-77 northbound: MetroHealth buildings under demolition, where the Glick Center now stands: Euclid Avenue at East 4th Street - pre-Beacon and Shake Shack: View from the 1010 Building rooftop: Rose Building, former United Church of Christ building and the Schofield: Key Tower and the PNC (Previously National City, Pittsburgh Not Cleveland) building: View looking west from 1010 Euclid: East Sixth Street looking south from St. Clair Avenue - the former National City Building's parapet is under repair after it collapsed and crushed a vehicle but fortunately no one was injured Protest to recall former Mayor Frank Jackson - thought the individual in the center with the blue baseball hat must have had something to hide 😉 View from the Convention Center Roof/Mall B: Workers installing the Hilton facade: Schofield under redevelopment: Main Avenue: Duck Island: Drury Plaza (formerly Board of Education): Indians (now Guardians) Opening Day at Huron and Prospect: Former United Church of Christ headquarters (700 Prospect): East 4th Street, Opening Day: Public Square from Soldiers and Sailors Monument: Public Square from Soldiers and Sailors Monument: Former National City Bank Building - click here for a more current view: Former Jewish Federation of Greater Cleveland Headquarters, now site of the Edge apartments: Kesicki Hall/Welsh Academy on the campus of Saint Ignatius - click here for more current view: Flats East Bank apartments: Steeple of St. John's Cathedral with Hilton under construction: The Ivory under redevelopment: Hilton construction:

Cleveland: Random Development and News
It is - AI has improved a bit as far as rendering hands but is still laughably bad when it comes to rendering skylines with any accuracy. For example, here's what Adobe Firefly (their AI platform) within Photoshop produced with a prompt of "A photo realistic image of downtown Cleveland that accurately shows landmark buildings in the skyline." Maybe other platforms are more accurate but that would be a topic for another thread.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Market District Hotel
Done, and thanks for posting the thread for redirection, makes it easier for us. I think the scale is good and the outdoor spaces will be a nice add for the area. Hopefully they don't go with the same reflective glass they used for the Edda coffeeshop at INTRO on the ground floor.

Cleveland: Downtown: The Centennial (925 Euclid Redevelopment)
Folks, we have a place to discuss and speculate about projects that are in limbo, or maybe in jeopardy of demolition (not the case here, at least not for quite some time) or planned uses that are a ways off from materializing. If it turns out we have to move some posts back into this thread because the 925 Euclid lobby is going to be repurposed into a Target/Bloomingdales/amusement park, great - that means some positive movement for the building. Also, a friendly reminder to refrain from giving the Admins and Mods grief over a request to keep a post on topic. This forum has been around for over two decades because we generally run a tight ship. Let's keep this thread for actual activity that's directly related to the building's redevelopment.

Especially in an area that was an abandoned wasteland for so long - here's two throwback photos to April 2018 when the land was being cleared.- Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
Found an old flash drive, pics are from around 2006-2007. I need to get back up to the Terminal Tower observation deck now that the signage has been installed.- Cleveland: Downtown: Rockefeller Building Rehab-Additions
To be clear, the Admins and owners of this forum do not encourage or endorse criminal trespassing. What’s interesting is I’m 99% sure this is someone I’m distantly connected with on social media, and they’ve posted photos where it’s unmistakably them (and they’re of an age to know better). Yes, this is criminal trespassing and yes, people have gone to jail for it.- Cleveland: University Circle: Cleveland Clinic Developments
New light rail lines, road conditions, the merits of BRT ... all might have appropriate threads for discussion. Just not here.- Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
My guess would be exit signs.- Cleveland: Ohio City: Irishtown Bend Park

Want to discuss tariffs and the global economy - there's either a thread for it, or anyone is welcome to make one.- Cleveland / Northeast Ohio: "What If/Hypothetical/Dream" Construction and Projects Discussion
Yes - absolutely the correct thread for musings like this! Also a good spot for super quick crappy Photoshop jobs 😁 A second Sherwin Williams tower would go a ways in filling the gap between the new building and the Courthouse tower. As far as the gap between SW and Key from this angle, it really depends. The Courthouse tower is 430' but I have to double check if that's measured from the West Huron Road elevation or from Canal Road. Based on renderings/massings we've seen, it's hard to tell what heights are planned. So far the tallest appear to be two towers that mirror the Skylight Office/Ritz "twins" on the southern side of Huron, flanking the main concourse of the Tower City atrium. What I've hastily put together would be two 400'ish towers but back when the Courthouse was constructed, they ended up lopping off a story from the original 25 because of the costs involved with the geotechnical conditions along the riverfront (I recall the phrase "swiss cheese" being used). If they did end up being taller than the Courthouse, you get an idea of what gaps they might fill.- Cleveland: Tremont: Development and News

Folks, we try to provide some wiggle room with the project threads, but things were starting to get a little too far off topic. Getting back on track, some photos from Oct. 20th.- Cleveland: Downtown: Huntington Bank Field
Well, I know of a photo taken on a lunch break that was uploaded to a small site on the internet that ended up opening 128 episodes of an award-winning TV show in 170 different countries, but I know - that's not the topic here. 😉😁 Getting sort of back to the topic - we're seeing the whole "flight to quality" play out with commercial office buildings where everything has to have all the accoutrements and be the "shiny new object". Anything perceived as "less than" is going to be right-sized, repurposed, or razed - or relocated; why should sports complexes be exempt? 🤷♂️- Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters

Moved some posts to the "What if/Dream" thread. Some clearly are a better fit there, and others might fall into a gray area - I'm the first to vote for rail service to Blossom but again, What if/Dream 😉 - Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
