  1. ^Yes, there was a bank branch there. These are photos of just the vestibule area so you can imagine the main banking "hall":
  2. It’s not an entirely inappropriate response - you might want to review the last sentence in your quote I’ve posted above.

Another pic from Schaaf Road - I wonder if the Beacon crane will still be up when the Lumen crane is jumped.
  4. Growing up in a somewhat rural area, there's no substitute for going to an actual patch where you bring a boxcutter, tromp through some mud patches and grab one off the vine. None of this BS like Szalay's or Mapleside of paved parking, corn mazes, face painting or the absolute worst - 'pumpkins and gourds artfully displayed on primitive farm equipment' (aka a sh!t spreader cart). Unfortunately, those places seem to be the norm any more. With that, I like Monroe's in Hiram - and grabbing a bite in nearby Garrettsville or if I have to, Sunrise in Burton https://monroesorchard.com/2017/02/14/autumn-at-the-orchard/

  6. ^^ It might help their cause if the staff could acknowledge when a customer is in the store but we have a thread for retail discussion. Getting back on topic, I have a direct view of these buildings so as soon as I see construction activity, I'll post some pics.
  7. This doesn't focus on the Lumen construction, but oh well Guess you have to click on it to see the full size version?
  8. Early 70s, moved away in the early 90s. The big employers were the manufacturing plants near South Ellsworth - American Standard, Eljer, Mullins Manufacturing, Deming Pump, and Salem China and a sizable amount of people worked at the GM plant in Lordstown - of those, only American Standard is left and it's nowhere near the capacity it used to be. There are a few manufacturers in the area but again, not employing the numbers that the area once had.
  9. I grew up in Salem, Ohio - some trivia: East Ninth Street aka Route 14 goes through downtown Salem and it's where Alan Freed spent his formative years. That said ... My hometown doesn't even have a birth rate as of June 30th of this year. And it's literally falling apart. And they're relying on murals to cover that up. There was a chance to stabilize or even boost the population, but a few provincial bumpkins didn't want "those people" around. Growing up, it was like Mayberry from 'The Andy Griffith Show'. Those days are gone.
  10. If you draw a straight line, disregarding the fact Philadelphia is about 80 miles away from NYC, and disregard Atlanta's location between the East Coast and Chicago ... ?
  11. Guess I spoke too soon ? FE0C95C1-ECC4-40A8-8AFB-B20EBAB3FD97.MOV
  12. First post via phone on the new forum setup - last of the first crane sections going up.
  13. Hmm, not sure - @richNcincy is there a setting I need to fix?
  14. Technically the garage is rising already - hard to see from this angle but the lowest level ramp is taking shape:
  15. It's rising :)
  16. "3) Everyone tripping over themselves to trash the design as "ugly" are premature and also look pretty immature IMO. Maybe you simply don't like contemporary architecture (fine), but you should at least understand the amount of hours that it takes being poured into this day and night by a whole team of people working hard to make a project of this scale happen" I'm happy to cite some amazing contemporary work but let me guess - you're on that whole team of people? ;)
  17. ^Presuming KJP is referring to this: https://www.clevelandconstruction.com/portfolio/kimpton-schofield-hotel-and-residences/
  18. This is hilarious. Why would someone sit on the corner of a busy intersection? Waiting for their Lyft/Uber?
  19. I don't usually weigh in on Columbus project threads but ugh - you deserve so much better than a mashup of the convention center Hilton and 250 South High.
  20. After seeing the Kimpton Schofield restoration work and the visual impact made at the corner of Euclid and East Ninth, I cannot wait to see this piece of the puzzle brought back to life:
  21. "None of us have done the types of studies or research that the developers have so let them do their thing with the land they purchased." Although I'm not at liberty to disclose, I can assure you this forum has quite a few members who are in just about every aspect of the construction, development and real estate industries.
  22. From closer to ground level:
  23. Tower crane base has arrived:
