  1. I presume he means the Statler, but auto-correction strikes again.

I always make a point to grab a drink at the Orchids at Palm Court (in the Hilton next to Carew Tower). Drop dead gorgeous interior - probably my favorite in Ohio.
  3. ^Agreed but as they are a for-profit entity and are using the image to promote their business, PoshSteve is well within his rights to request reasonable compensation, not just credit as the photographer.
  4. Flattering, but sad they couldn't give any credit to where they found it lol Not just sad, but unprofessional and a violation of federal copyright laws.
  5. Not sure about useless, but redundant and wasteful - absolutely.
  6. New York Spaghetti House demolition under way.
  7. From Monday.
  8. Cross-posted from the demolition thread - Haab's Bakery building was demo'd earlier this week:
  9. Snapped two shots of the Haab's Bakery building coming down earlier this week (West 19th in Duck Island):
  10. Just an fyi, if you need to address multiple posts, you should use the "@" feature rather than create multiple new posts for each quote.
  11. View from Cleveland Browns stadium (better view than watching the game today!).
  12. Just an fyi, it is against forum rules to post articles in their entirety (except for press releases); doing so is also a federal copyright violation. What *is* permitted is the title and author, the first paragraph (3-4 sentences) and then the link to the original article. Thanks for your understanding and cooperation.
  13. Great job - thanks for sharing!

It was a smaller turnout (myself, Paul in Cleveland, TPH2, gotribe, and Oldmanladyluck) but it was a good time. We'll have to schedule another meetup soon.
  15. Whatever it is, any chance there's a larger version? Love that angle!
  16. Okay, I'm stumped - helicopter ride or earthcam on a cell tower?
  17. For those wondering how they deconstruct the tower crane, from the earthcam.

A reminder for today's lunch meetup - I'll grab a table on the southern end; as you exit the checkout area, turn left toward Euclid Avenue.
  19. I stopped in Geigers today - great looking space and good variety as far as style and price. I'm not the target market for their more outdoorsy/Patagonia goods but they had some cool sweaters, t-shirts from GV, and accessories that I plan to buy on my next visit.

I've been to Kafeteria quite a few times - they have a pretty good salad bar and grab/go foods - some of the prep stations get backed up but never ridiculously so. My suggestion - I can get there a little before noon and grab a table so everyone attending can just grab lunch first and find our spot. It'll be easier that way than meeting in the lobby, then trying to find a larger table, etc.
  21. Lots and lots of hydraulics and a smaller crane is brought in to construct/deconstruct the components of the tower crane. In some cases, the smaller crane is hoisted to the roof of the building. Going to miss seeing this in the skyline, hopefully we get a few more to take its place.
  22. I think podcasts could be interesting, but only if the emphasis was on factual insight as opposed to commentary. Still, if you get a guest speaker, let's say from a major project under construction - they might have all the insight in the world but contractually or legally, they may not permitted to discuss any of it. So if it's just a few people discussing what they *think* or yet another pontificator who thinks they're the only one with a contrarian view ... well, you know what they say about opinions. ;-) There might be more ideal formats than the forum setup and I'd be interested but there are still the questions - who runs it/pays for it/maintains it, is there really enough of an audience out there?
